This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in the Beta, FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2018 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. The latter are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. Due to licensing reasons, the number of Ajax non-playing staff is quite small and this file contains a fix to restore them. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Susie Real Name Fixes - Ajax staff FM18_51792081-6A2F-4EF3-8781-F6D8D9E2A331.fmf
from within the editor data folder as they are no longer needed. Retaining them will see a duplicate complement for Ajax staff members.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. The Japanese national team will be populated along the same lines too, but any Japan-based players are not in the official database and need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Thanks a lot for this fix, been using it for years now, top top stuff and makes the games all that much better!
I'm waiting for the full game to start my long-term save, and planned to also wait for the full-game-version of this fix to get all the editor files etc. Any idea when it'll be out?
Or, will the files that impact saves when they're created be the same for the full release as they are now anyway, giving no need to wait for them...?
mons
My intention is to have the file out on the day of release. The present release is missing the editor data files, as they don't work with the beta. They need to be in place before starting a new game...

Thanks, great news!

According to this post from the middle of October, the competition names changed from the start of this year (in fact your link is for the 2016 season). I'll check again to see if they're displayed in the correct manner in the file, though as I'm a bit confused now...

Just checked in-game and it looks like the names in this fix are correct for the present season
d4ky
Hi @mons also there is a new competition the u18 Premier League Cup (England) may also need adding to your list
Cheers mate

I'll need the editor to be sure, but I think I've added all the new English competitions since the beta version of this file was released, and they should all be included in v1.0, which should hopefully be available within the next 24 hours
FCSB already has the correct name in the FM18 database: https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-2018/team/1513/fcsb
Are there any other Romanian First Division names from these which need to be changed please? https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-2018/league/7540024/romanian-first-league
d4ky
Spot on pal.
I’ve noticed there is an u18 Division 3 cup that’s been added this year. I believe that is called the Youth Alliance Cup, although you may have added it
mons
I do believe so, yes
d4ky
How could I ever doubt you? 😂

I will never understand why they dont release the editor with beta so those of us wanting to use it can do editing pre full game release
I have asked SI and got a BS response
it should be out in a few hours
MetaLchesH
The full game has been released.
I will start a new game.
Can you please post link for the editor data?
Best Regards.

A bit of patience, mate. It's only been out maybe 10-15 minutes! I need to check it actually works

Works fine for me. You do need to make sure they go in the 1810 set of folders rather than 1800...
bucket_legend
Hello mate, I've done that but the correct leagues come up but not the team changes like Schalke? Any reason why?
Thanks
mons
As always, since a new release of the game has been made available, you need to redownload and reapply the files in both 1800 and the new 1810 folder.
2 new additions to the usual files this year:
a) As @d4ky pointed out, there is only a very small amount of Ajax non-playing staff included in the game for licensing reasons. I copied the missing Ajax staff from the FM17 database and they are included in an individual file in this download.
b) Also for licensing reasons, Ajax wanted Abdelhak Nouri to be included in the game. I have removed him from the game in another separate file containing only this change.
Known minor issues:
To get this file out, I wasn't been able to check a handful of submitted proposed changes, which will be added at a later stage and should nonetheless be save-game compatible. I also still need to check what competitions/awards etc. have been added and to see whether they need licence fixes.
That said, these would be very minor changes and will not impact those wishing to start a new game.
Enjoy your game!
mons
Redownload and reapply the fix
Above goes for you too

The editor is out
mons
I'm afraid you must either have a separate file running or you must have applied some other patch.
Look at the below screenshots.
d4ky
will this fix include ajax staff or is that something only the editor can do?
mons
It's late and I appreciate you're tired, but they are included in this file already
d4ky
I just noticed as I went to copy and paste etc. great effort this
