This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in the Beta, FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2018 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. The latter are fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. Due to licensing reasons, the number of Ajax non-playing staff is quite small and this file contains a fix to restore them. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file

STEP 1.
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2018\data\database\db\1800
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2018\data\database\db\1810
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2018\data\database\db\1830
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

Notes:
\Program Files (x86)\
could be
\Program Files\
depending on your set up.

Mac
OPEN
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2018 / data / database / db / 1800
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2018 / data / database / db / 1810
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2018 / data / database / db / 1830
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

OPEN
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2018/data//database/db/1800/
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2018/data//database/db/1810/
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2018/data//database/db/1830/
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

Please note that the Local folder is hidden. Press (ctrl + h)

[b]OPEN
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm18\files\installed\data\\database\db\1800
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm18\files\installed\data\\database\db\1810
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm18\files\installed\data\\database\db\1830
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and Inc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in both the 1800 and 1801 an folders:

https://i.imgur.com/qDCcSOy.png
https://i.imgur.com/VLVqYin.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2018\editor data
This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

https://i.imgur.com/fD6OfXK.png

STEP 6

If you had already used previous versions of this download, you will need to delete the files named:
Susie Real Name Fixes - Abdelhak Nouri removed_6B282152-37E5-4FFE-9159-07277A5FD537.fmf
and
Susie Real Name Fixes - Ajax staff FM18_51792081-6A2F-4EF3-8781-F6D8D9E2A331.fmf
from within the editor data folder as they are no longer needed. Retaining them will see a duplicate complement for Ajax staff members.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. The Japanese national team will be populated along the same lines too, but any Japan-based players are not in the official database and need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

I have. I'm on a macbook pro

Try downloading this file. It's the correct one for sure, so if it doesn't work, it will inevitably be an issue at your end. Can you give me a screenshot of the location the downloaded file is in, if that's the case?

I'm using UnrarX instead of Winrar, but that shouldn't matter. I've never had problems like this before. I just downloaded the file you linked to in your message, and it's still a VLC file, but it has .rar. at the end..

Then can you please try using Winrar to extract it? It's the program with which the file was created and will definitely work, unless you have changed some file permissions at your end.

Do you have a valid link for Winrar download?

Try right clicking on the file and choose 'open with', then select UnrarX, though downloading Winrar or 7zip should sort it.

So me and my friend both downloaded this file the exact same way. I even told him how to do it.

I have looked and my Competition names are now correct but the team names are still 'RBL' and 'Gelschenkirchen' instead of correct names, however he has all correct names.

I have my game saved on an SSD whereas he does not. Is this an issue?

That's simply not possible. The Ajax staff added in this patch can't have faces as far as I know.

That'll be it, yes. Have you changed the user data folder on Steam so that the game can recognise files not in the default Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2018/ folder?

I have yes, my facepacks and logos work and are basically saved in the same folder in my documents. So no idea, I just tried again but this time with FM on my Hard-drive and the same problem occured.

Like every year, big thx Mons!
in a future update of your file, could you change:

- name stadium OH Leuven: shoulp become "King Power at Den Dreef Stadion" not "Leuvens sportcentrum-Den dreef" "every language"

- for RSC anderlecht, they have a derby versus RWDM and WS Brussels: it should be "Brusselse derby" not "brussels derby". all other derbys have an "e" at the end. "every language"

- the old uefa cup, in game called "uefa cup winners' cup": in dutch it should be "UEFA Beker voor Bekerwinnaars". "dutch only"

Stadium and competition name change have been added, thanks Re derby name, I'm not sure I should edit it in this pack - Brussels derby is perfectly fine in English...

Do Dutch leagues need to be added for it to work?

Depends on what kind of database size you're running. Also, the file needs to be in place before starting a new game.

The only way I can get it to work is if I load dutch leagues. So I guess it won't work without? Is there a way if so, to then get it to work without the need for dutch leagues?

It's got nothing to do with what leagues you load but with the database size. If you have a small database size, the game probably assesses Dutch staff member and decides they shouldn't be loaded.

Right, for some reason i can't get the game to launch with the latest version of this installed. If I remove them, validate to default, the game launches. If i install these via the instructions, it won't load! Any ideas on why that would happen?

I've loaded a new game quickly. If you scroll through the other Dutch clubs, they also have hardly any staff loaded. Could be that SI have made some changes under the hood to reduce staff loading in non-active leagues. Either way, there's not much I can do about it...

I'm 100% sure the file works if installed correctly. Since it's not working, then I'm afraid you must have done something wrong without realizing along the way.

If you can post those screenshots, perhaps I can spot where you went wrong...

1. Deleted the 'dbc', 'inc', and 'edt' in the database folder and replaced with the ones from the Real Names download, as per usual.

https://ibb.co/ePxJOG

2. Placed the Real Name Fix files in the Editor Data folder, as per usual

https://ibb.co/dKquxb

3. This worked with the FM2018 file uploaded prior to 11/11 - but today's version won't let my game launch from Steam. If i delete the installed files, Verify and install to default, it works!

Thought there might have been something wrong there, but no.

What about that Legends at Youth file? No idea what it is, but could you try loading a new game without it?

Also, what is the exact error message displayed?

It's a database i'm making with legends @ 16 years old.

With regards to errors, there aren't any - double click on the game in Steam, says 'Running' - then goes to 'Syncing' as if syncing saved data, and .. that's it. It prevents the game from launching at all.
