This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in the Beta, FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2018 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. The latter are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. Due to licensing reasons, the number of Ajax non-playing staff is quite small and this file contains a fix to restore them. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Loads more than that. Do you have Holland as a playable nation though? Most won't show if it isn't, though.
If you install this file correctly, you will get the correct Brazilian names into a new game, as the way they are "hidden" is different to that of other clubs and different to change.

I mean for an existing game that is? So because of the way they're hidden it means that it's not possible to change the file to have them work in an existing save, even by doing the workaround of losing the nickname?

Oh, I didn't realise what you meant as there were two comments of mine in the post you quoted and I got confused.
Using this file, you have to start a new game to get the correct Brazilian name changes, I'm afraid...

Since some of the files deleted by this download may be recreated when SI release an official patch, I recommend that you re-install this download every time an official patch is released, mostly to be safe. It's not that the fix stops working, it's just that there be elements of it which are toggled off and which be re-applying this download you then re-toggle back on.
On the section in bold, the second sentence is correct.

Good work with the Ajax staff file. As I'm a stickler for detail, I've gone through all of the new entries, and added their previous playing and staff history, achievements, changed some roles (Johnny Heitinga to under-19 manager, rather than Jong Ajax coach) etc.
I can send it to you to incorporate into the file, if you like?

I've just had the time to have a look at this. It's Merthyr T in my files and in the official database, so I suspect it's another editor data file which is causing this issue for you...
As for these, I'm afraid I couldn't use them, because the reason there is a (WAL) behind most of them in the official database is that there is a higher-reputation club with a similar name already in the database, and having 2 clubs with the same name may cause confusion.

Hey, @mons , I edit the long name of portuguese teams in the txt, but it does not change in my save game. For portuguese teams, the long name is always the same of short name.
Spanish, german, italian teams and anyone else have different long and short names. The exception is the portuguese teams: long name reflects the short name.
How can i workaround?
I use a Mac and FM 2018 version 18.1.2.
