This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in the Beta, FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2018 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. The latter are fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. Due to licensing reasons, the number of Ajax non-playing staff is quite small and this file contains a fix to restore them. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file

STEP 1.
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2018\data\database\db\1800
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2018\data\database\db\1810
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2018\data\database\db\1830
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

Notes:
\Program Files (x86)\
could be
\Program Files\
depending on your set up.

Mac
OPEN
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2018 / data / database / db / 1800
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN

DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2018 / data / database / db / 1830
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

OPEN
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2018/data//database/db/1800/
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN

DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2018/data//database/db/1830/
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

Please note that the Local folder is hidden. Press (ctrl + h)

[b]OPEN
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm18\files\installed\data\\database\db\1800
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm18\files\installed\data\\database\db\1810
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders
OPEN
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm18\files\installed\data\\database\db\1830
DELETE the dbc , edt and Inc folders

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and Inc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in both the 1800 and 1801 an folders:

https://i.imgur.com/qDCcSOy.png
https://i.imgur.com/VLVqYin.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2018\editor data
This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

https://i.imgur.com/fD6OfXK.png

STEP 6

If you had already used previous versions of this download, you will need to delete the files named:
Susie Real Name Fixes - Abdelhak Nouri removed_6B282152-37E5-4FFE-9159-07277A5FD537.fmf
and
Susie Real Name Fixes - Ajax staff FM18_51792081-6A2F-4EF3-8781-F6D8D9E2A331.fmf
from within the editor data folder as they are no longer needed. Retaining them will see a duplicate complement for Ajax staff members.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. The Japanese national team will be populated along the same lines too, but any Japan-based players are not in the official database and need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Hey, @mons , I edit the long name of portuguese teams in the txt, but it does not change in my save game. For portuguese teams, the long name is always the same of short name.
Spanish, german, italian teams and anyone else have different long and short names. The exception is the portuguese teams: long name reflects the short name.

How can i workaround?

I use a Mac and FM 2018 version 18.1.2.

Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid this is a hard-coded licensing restriction for Portuguese clubs; the only way to edit names is using the editor data file and editing club names through an lnc file is not possible.

I don't know who moms is

No, it's been the case for the last 4-5 years ever since Portuguese club names were changed for licensing reasons. I've left them in the file in the hope that one year SI re-enable lnc changes for them...

One last question, @mons .

As spanish and german teams have also this same issue of licensing, why is it possible to edit their long names in the lnc file?

SI must have had different licensing arrangements in place specifically for Portugal, but obviously this is only speculation.

This file does not add Japan as a playable league, nor the other 2 countries you mentioned. You need to download files like claassen's (do a search of the forum) to possibly enable them.

I see. There needs to be 150 eligible players loaded in a save game for a national team to be able to be managed. Unless you've loaded all Japanese players, it's unlikely this number is reached since there aren't many Japanese players in the database. This file only allows real players to be called up, but doesn't add any new players to the database. If you want to do so, you need to use this file, which adds players in the top 3 tiers of Japanese football, and also allows you to manage in Japan.

Hello, I don't know if it already indicated, the Fussballclub red bull salzbourg as changed this year and it rename FC salzburg

This is the club's official website. There is reference to Red Bull Salzburg all over the place, including the URL, the logo and text throughout. Can you tell me where you got this info from please?

All I know is that, for licensing purposes, they cannot be referred to as Red Bull Salzburg in UEFA competitions, but that is their full name wherever I've looked elsewhere.

OK I saw there made that he changed name only for the matches European.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Red_Bull_Salzburg#The_Red_Bull_takeover ( The red bull takeover )

Thus they have 2 names and 2 logos for this season. I think that it is not possible of coded that it changes in game according to the competition?

No, it isn't. And given that the whole point of these files is to remove licensing restrictions, it wouldn't make much sense to have the name in that way

I've just had the time to have a look at this. It's Merthyr T in my files and in the official database, so I suspect it's another editor data file which is causing this issue for you...

As for these, I'm afraid I couldn't use them, because the reason there is a (WAL) behind most of them in the official database is that there is a higher-reputation club with a similar name already in the database, and having 2 clubs with the same name may cause confusion.

Thanks @Private Joker

Hi Mons, fair enough on the WAL versions, but either way Merthyr should be the shortened version (I'm only using your editor files )

There's the old Merthyr in the database still, and you can't have 2 clubs with the same name...

The stadium name change for Vålerenga (Norway) is wrong. It changes the name of Ullevaal stadion (ID 117250) to Vålerenga's new stadium. The correct one to change is ID 53136988 ("Vålerenga stadion" - or technically "Vålerenga Kultur- og idrettspark", it's now named "Intility Arena" for sponsorship reasons.

I need to know specifically which entries you've changed from your last submission, so that I can copy them only and not the whole lot.

No idea, I only have FM Classic. I suspect some of it may but not the editor data files. Why not try and let us know?

Oh dear, will fix this for the next update.

Thankfully, this is save-game compatible so all you need to do in the meantime is open the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file with notepad and find 117250, and replace it with 53136988.

Hi,
Anyone knows a way to make this work in the IOS FMT version?
When i acess FMT18 via itunes i have acess to the following folders:

- chanllenfes
- custom pools
- db setups
- editor data
- exported teams
- filters
- games
- graphics
- languages
- match plans
- matches
- pictures
- set pieces
- shorlists
- skins
- tactics
- uploads
- views

I've try to put the content from the "editor data" folder from your zip file into the "editor data" in the Ipad, but nothing happen. Still the same team and competition names.
The others files from the zip file, i don't know where to place them. Any ideas?

@Keyzer Soze , I'm afraid that I neither play FMT nor on iOS, so I can't really help.

What I can say is that is the folder structure where the editor data files should go; are you starting a new game after applying the files? A screenshot of where you placed them would help.

Secondly, the game itself is installed elsewhere, you need to find that location

Thks for the reply.
I did start a new game, but there were any effect.
About the location where the game is installed, my Ipad is not jailbreak, so i can't acess any others files/folders apart from the ones mention above.
Perhaps only with a jailbreak devide it's possible...

The only thing I may have to change from your suggestion is to make it Keshla instead of Keşlə, going by the names of the other Azeri clubs, but I'll have to check on that.

Hi, I started a save file and then applied the German National team fix after. However, for the past 3 international fixtures the players seem to be greyed out for Germany. Is there any solution or must I start a new game?
