Cristiano Ronaldo wants to see out his Real Madrid contract

Cristiano Ronaldo says he wants to stay at Real Madrid until his current contract runs out, but admits he is unsure what will happen beyond then.

The former Manchester United forward's deal at the Bernabeu expires in 2015, but he has been linked with a move away from the Spanish giants.

"I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid - I'm very clear about that," the 27-year-old told Fifa's website.

"After that, well, I don't know what'll happen in the future."

Speaking in an interview at the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony that was published on Fifa's official website on Monday, Ronaldo revealed his plan to stay for at least another two years at Real Madrid.

It comes after he admitted in September that he was "sad" at the reigning La Liga champions.

The Portuguese forward joined Madrid in 2009 in a world record £80m deal from Manchester United.

Ronaldo will face his former side for the first time since his move when Madrid take on United in the last-16 of the Champions League in February.

With Jose Mourinho's side 18 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, their main focus will now be Europe's elite competition.

"Every Madridista wants that 10th European Cup - we're more than aware of that," Ronaldo said.

"It's not going to be easy and I reckon the odds are about 50-50, but I'm still very confident.

"Manchester United have started the English championship race very well and are a long way ahead of the rest, but still, if we play the way we're capable of, we can beat them."

It would be great to see him back in a red shirt but i have to questions about it.

1) How long is his current contract? (Basically what age will he be by the time it runs out)

2) How much would he (His agent) want and would Fergie, any possible replacements or the board pay that much

He'll be 29 when his contract ends, I think.

Fergie would, no questions asked.

Tbh, Ronaldo is a big enough marketing tool that any wages probably will pay for themselves.

Bowel op i've heard. Massive shame as he was getting back to a great part of our side. He was still so influential. Hope it all goes well.

No he wasn't.

He's been shite since he's come back, and I mean that in the nicest way.

If this surgery can actually solve the problem (I had heard it was untreatable, but maybe not) he will be a lot better for it.

If you needed any proof that there is a media witch hunt against De Gea you just need to check the papers.

2 or 3 world class saves, a player left unmarked in the box and boom De Gea is shite.

Yeah but tbf, goalkeepers are one area where Neville talks a lot of shite.

He basically admitted to it when he started out, he said something like 'goalkeepers, for me, are always at fault when a goal is conceded' and he's pretty consistently attacked every keeper for the smallest of errors (except Hart, who he gives a very free reign, but I suspect that's because of his England commitments).

EDIT: I don't mean that in a 'Hart gets away with out criticism' type of way, just that in general Neville is very uncritical of his England charges.

I think its ridiculous to be honest. How old is De Gea? Early twenties and bought to replace a guy who was 40 and had done everything. There is no way that De Gea was going to have the all round ability and consistency of VDS. Of course he is going to have his faults but what player his age doesn't? He has definitely improved since his arrival and is one of the best keepers in the league with shot stopping. He just needs to improve with the ball in the air in the box but the whole thing with buying someone young is you are buying into their potential - very rarely is someone his age the finished article, especially in his position.

Fucking ridiculous piece by Hansen

It's not like De Gea made some top saves in that game or anything, if anything he won Utd a point

I think aswell he's been a bit hard done by on the goal aswell. He's had to reach above two players and if he'd punched half a yard further to Lennon's left then it would've been fine.

The worst part is the suggestion that dropping him for Lindegaard would be an improvement. Utterly ridiculous.

If Lindegaard had started, we would have lost 3-1 or 4-1. He was the best player on the park with the exceptions of Carrick and Lennon.

He was at fault for the goal though - regardless of how many good saves he made before that.

His punch could have been stronger aye, but it wasn't his fault that Lennon was left on his own by Evra and Dempsey was unmarked nor, longer term, that our only way of holding on to a lead seems to be retreating further and further back and ceding massive amounts of possession to everyone and anyone. Pressure was always going to tell.

I can see why we were looking at Nathaniel Clyne last summer- he's been terrific tonight and would be great cover in both full-back positions. Clyne and Zaha in the summer would make me a happy camper.

De Gea has improved a lot this season tbf...

Still makes the odd annoying mistake and he needs to stop that, but all in all he's been much better, more confident I'd imagine and hopefully he'll keep getting better.

yeah he is nowhere near as bad as people make out. and still only 22 ffs, his shot stopping is unreal at times. yeah he needs to be more of a presence in the box but hes only a little guy, that will come, and i know i wouldnt wanna shout at Vidic when im only 22 hah, would be terrifying

The only annoying thing about him is he'll make stunning saves you don't expect and then make a silly error, that for me personally is the most annoying thing about a keeper when they make freakishly good saves and make silly mistakes.

He's definitely improved, he's probably got the best distribution in the league.

He's still prone to an absolutely game changing error though - something a Man Utd keeper really can't afford to do.
