Apparently the government are going to send monthly letters to part-time workers to tell them they would be better off if they worked longer hours for more money. Great use of resources that.

Finally got some medication from the doctor, after three weeks of being in bed. On codeine and amoxycil. I love prescription drugs. They gut you jacked.

It's a shame they cannot cure AIDs.

How do you guys study? I've exams starting next week (like preparation for my main exams in June) and all I've been doing is my homework. Once I'm done that, I don't look at a book again until school the next day. I mean I'm literally going to do awful in my exams next week. I want to do well, mainly for my parents (my brother didn't do particular well in his exams either) so I don't want to do as bad as him (he's doing well now, took a year out working, made a couple of grand and in collage now).

But I just cannot study. I can't sit down and read over a book for a few hours. I tend to write notes and keep reading them aloud to myself, but its too much effort and time consuming writing the notes out. But I'm not one of those who just look at the book and know it off by heart. I mean when I do study and revise my notes for exams, I do well.

I've had a fair few distractions though, (Nan and aunty passing away, sick a lot of the time, having an operation, and now having a slight problem with my heart...) In order to get the course I want to do in collage, I need something like 350 points (out of 600...) I can apply for a programme which will add 40 points to whatever score I receive in my exams in June (can apply for it since I've missed so much school and the stress the operation and heart problem caused me).

Its very irritating, as when I do put my mind to it, I've very capable of getting a good grade. But I'm to lazy. I rather take the easy option, watch tv, go on Twitter/Facebook etc instead of study. So, any one of you wanna share your secret as to how you study?

I don't. Which is why I didn't go to university.

I struggle to revise as well most of the time. When it gets close to exams the pressure/need to do something finally kicks in.

Personally I like going over Problem Sheets and Past Papers. Working through all the questions again from scratch, without looking at how I previously answered them, unless I get stuck. I tend to use the past paper answers to give me a list of key things to know, try and fit all the important stuff onto two sides of A4.

I'm not sure who easy that would be for some subjects, in terms of what questions you have to go over and how similar exams are from year to year. I do Physics, and the exams tend to have a lot of overlap so that works out pretty well.

I find it helps to do something. Like writing notes out, or condensing them onto flash cards and working through questions. Definitely forces you to concentrate more on what your doing and that helps stop you get distracted as easily

I've never actually sat down and studied. I rarely did any homework either. I can't do it, just like I can't read books or sit and watch long films. My mind just completely drifts off and I'm left where I was before but with some stupid idea in my head. I made attempts at it but I always got distracted by something. If I was in an empty room I'd still find something far more interesting to do or think about than study. The pressure never really got to me either. There were times I was up to like 4am with an exam the next day with the intention of studying or writing an essay or whatever, but I just pissed about. In fact, I didn't even read your whole post because I got bored of it.

I wouldn't advise this method.

Got an iPhone 5 the other day and the charger didn't work.

Think that's me and Apple done and dusted. Can't see myself buying another phone of them again.

Couldn't get my contact lenses so my optician took them out for me. He put some iodine in them to make sure there were no scratches and everything was sound. Got home and sneezed and the tissue paper looks like it's been covered in yellow highlighter fluid. It's pretty cool but I'd like it to stop soon.

Sears, I also suffer many of the concentration problems previously mentioned so I don't have much advice I can give you about that.

What I can tell you though is that the place you go to learn is spelt 'college' not 'collage', that's something quite different.

Don't mean to be patronizing but maybe meant to say collage? Maybe his brother returned from a year out and is now part of an actual human collage somewhere? Yeah, that's it.

Pretty much everything I was going to say after seeing Sears post on the other page. I agree that you really need to do something, if you just sit and read a textbook for a couple of hours as the chances are you're not going to take most of it in. So aye, past papers, old homework assignments/questions, extra study questions etc. I'd also buy study guides that have questions etc for stuff like Physics and Maths, or condense the subject for things like History and Geography.

I'm not sure if any of your mates are in the same situation as you, but it's a lot easier to study with someone there to quiz you etc.

We live and learn bro, we live and learn.

In all honestly spelling college as collage is infuriating, always see the odd person on fb/twitter do it. Hope for Sears sake that my theory was correct

Wait, I meant collage is in university? So Jumberto is right, my bad, silly spelling mistake.

And thanks guys. For example, for English lately, I've done some exam questions, so I may use the same method for the other subjects. I mean I've 7 subjects to study, so I may need to come up with some sort of schedule because at the moment I'm all over the place. Was talking to an ex-pupil at training and he told me to keep doing exam questions, so considering I won't properly study this may be the best method available. I just want enough points so I can continue studying history in university, which I should probably be able to get.

Honours Irish is simple to study, it's all memory. It'll be drilled into you soon. Same with your other honours subjects, all just reciting from memory essentially.

Oh and don't worry about the mocks, they mean fuck all and are useless to worry over.

English has fuck all to do with memory, as long as it's Literature.

Just go in and right any old bollocks and make it sound convincing and you're golden.
