This.

It's not utter bollocks. As TS said, you can't hit a ball boy. No one is condoning his actions, he should be punished, but Hazard kicked him and you can't do that. Hazard undermined the referee by going over to harass the ballboy for the ball. If he just left it the ball would have been back in play faster and the ref would have added the time on anyway for the delay.

Pat Nevin's comments are the worst: "I would have done the same." how is that justification for what Hazard did? Fucking pathetic.

I can understand if it was a young lad, but he is a 17 year old little prick. Deserved it.

Oh he's definitely a prick, no doubt about that.

I think it only took people 30 minutes to find his Twitter haha.

The ball boys a cock, but how anyone is using that to excuse Hazard I don't know.

It's obviously not in the league of Cantona vs the Palace racist, but a three game ban can't be argued with.

I doubt Hazard knew he was 17, could have been 13 or 14 for all he knew. You don't try and boot the ball out of a ball boy's hands regardless of his age.

Looking forward to the final btw. A massive day for both - Swansea's first ever major final and Bradford's first since 1911, iirc. It'll be an amazing story whoever wins and a more interesting final than if it was just two of the top teams from the PL.

Genius! That should be the final word on the matter. Much like the initial furore over RVP's "He could have been KILLED" this should now just be resigned to an amusing aside.

Hazard broke the rules by interfering with the ball boy

Woah woah woah, you can't be throwing accusations like that around.

Why the fuck are people still talking about, he clearly gave the ball a quick prod with his toe and his shin hit the teenager (not boy) very slightly. People are trying to make out that he went over simply kicked him and then walked off.

Fucking mountain out of a molehill as usual on here.

We'll have to wait until Saturday and hope a player dives to win a penalty, otherwise this could drag on for a while.

We need Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer back in the same team.

I want him to call a ref unfit again. That was hilarious.

Got a touchline ban for that (but he always gets away with it dont forget!). It's ok when Mancini says it though.

Brilliant.

I don't think many predicted a Swansea-Bradford final. Bloody marvellous.

I really hope Bradford have got one more big performance in them, It would be a shame to see them knock out Wigan and Arsenal and then spank Villa just to freeze up and get molested in the final.
If they play like they did in the first leg against Villa then I think they will do it.

In a court of law, 17 is a child. You cannot assault someone who is not active on the field. He should get a Cantona-esque length ban

Why do you honestly feel the need to go stupidly over the top about pretty much everything?

You know it wasn't an assault and you know its not worthy of a very lengthy ban, yet you still say so?

For once I agree with vp.

He tapped the ball from under the ball boy.

If he had done the same to a player on the field I'd be surprised if he even got a yellow.

People are making out like he drop kicked him in the face.

Look mate, people are trying to score points over a seemingly grey situation. Don't fuck this up for them.

That's irrelevant though - you can't touch the officials, ball boys or stewards. Pardew barely touched the linesman earlier in the season but was rightfully reprimanded because you simply can't tolerate players getting physical with match officials, no matter how hard or how soft the contact is. I don't believe there was any malice from Hazard and he was genuinely trying to get the ball, and that should hopefully influence the decision regarding his punishment. That said, Hazard full deserved his red and I'd fully expect his three game ban to be upheld.

Also, have people really been exaggerating the contact Hazard made with him? The majority of what I've read and heard has been in some sort of defence of Hazard.

It is legally assault though... The ballboy is not even an active person on the field of play yet he was kicked (all GIFs show this) when all Hazard had to do was wait as the ref has to stop his watch anyhow.

You're such a cunt. Me touching you on the arm is technically common assault. Stop being a bore.

Three games for Hazard is fair enough. Any more is insane.

Saying that, there's limits. Any police investigations are AOT, and some of the coverage - not least one newspaper column where the ballboy was described as "everything wrong with modern Britain" - is almost beyond insanity.

So, does anyone else think this whole thing about Hazard and the ballboy is the most tedious sporting news story since...well since a week ago when a linesman told a Man City player to go achknowledge the fans.

Every week we seem to have some 'drama' bullshit, where its all anyone goes on about, so boring.

This incident was funny at the time, and that was it. All this posturing is just pathetic.

Can't believe the editorial lines of some of the tabloids about this incident- acting as if it's outrageous that a 17-year old be allowed to outwit and then not take a kick to the ribs from a multimillionaire with the dignity of silent reverence.
