Trying to start a new game and had hoped to export some of the custom data I had created from my 2018 game. I have some wonderkid fmf files for example that I have created and wanted to bring into FM 19. However, the FM 19 editor doesn't even recognise these .fmf files. I have tried exporting into dbc also, but can't open in the new editor.
Is there a way to convert or export this older info? Surely I don't have to make new files for each created player etc? Surely the huge databases of offer in this community aren't manually recreated? Seems a bit of a ball ache.
Thanks for help.

Use the FM18 editor to export the fmf file as a dbc file.
Use the FM19 editor to import the dbc file

I have tried that but they just keep saying "Could not load file" - any further ideas?
mons
Worked fine for me on multiple files so it's likely you're not doing it right.
Did you save the FM18 file as uncompressed? You may need to do so before exporting it.
If that doesn't work, send me the file and I'll see if I can do it for you.

OK, some files have worked. The ones I have been able to export into xml load up fine, but the dbc ones won't load. I will try resaving them now and see if that helps. Thanks so much.

Hey,
Resaving the files in 2018 and exporting uncompressed into xml has worked. Thank you. That has saved me hours. Really appreciate the help.

Excellent. You're welcome!

I'm trying to import latest data update (Fm 2020) into Fm 2017. Is it possible using this method?
Thank you

It has mixed results but you can try it

I've tried using fm data update (xml) version from sortitoutsi, but loading it in fm editor, don't see any changes.
I've tried fmf file from fm 2020, but when I tried to load it in fm 2017 editor, unfortunately it doesn't appear in the list for load (I've put it in editor data as always)...

That's just a notification and doesn't stop you from using the file; the error message is not an issue in itself. Just click OK and you should be able to proceed to view the file in the editor.
Have a look at the file>database tab (I think that's what it's titled) in the top left section within the editor itself to see if there are any failed changes. The more basic the file, the less failed changes there will be and the more likely it is that it'll work in FM20, and vice versa, naturally.

As mons says just press ok that is normal
Just check the file for errors
Save it in FM 20 editor and try it in game
