Earlier in the week the Champions League qualifying rounds kicked off, though a lot of us were elsewise distracted!

The British & Irish teams were a mixed bag of results. Celtic got a comfortable 3-0 away victory on Tuesday but TNS ended their away journey with a 5-0 thrashing. Cork City couldn't quite hold their own against Legia Warsaw and fell to a 1-0 defeat at home.

Wednesday saw the biggest defeat though, with Crusaders falling to a heavy 7-0 defeat away at Ludogorets.

It's a bit of a joke that someone like Ludogorets has to begin in the first qualifying round.

Could you not say the same about Celtic?

With limited places though, someone has to. Don't know the teams who are in the next round pot.

So Celtic advance thanks to a mirror scoreline of their first leg, though making it a bit harder by going down to ten men. They now face Rosenborg in the next round, who advanced thanks to a goal from world beater Bendtner.

TNS almost made an epic comeback, but fell just short. Surely some pride was restored with their 4-0 victory though, unlike Crusaders who fell to another defeat and lost 9-0 on aggregate. Disappointment for Cork City too who failed to overturn their first leg deficit.

Well Celtic didn't have the best of starts against Rosenborg but managed to pull it back just before half time and end up with a 3-1 victory.

Even so, I still think it will be a tough game and one of those where they potentially lose the second leg but still go through. Could that early concession prove their undoing?!

A bit of an echo chamber in here but I'm sure it will pick up some when bigger teams join!

Just watched the second leg of the Celtic game. Bit of a wet flannel really. Rosenborg had most of the possession and the attacks but about as sharp up front as custard. The odd times Celtic got the ball they looked more dangerous. 0-0 and Celtic progress on aggregate to face AEK in the next round.

Celtic are out, first year under Rodgers that they've not made the group stage. Instead they head into the EL qualifying rounds now.

Think they stand a better chance there! They were poor against Athens.

Some tough groups for the English teams there. City arguably the easiest group out of those.

Bayern or Porto probably have the easiest groups overall though.

Lionel Messi vs Danny Rose, what could possibly go wrong. Man Utd get a hard group for once.

Spurs were classic spurs last night

But what a night at Anfield! battled well, thought we deserved the win personally and glad we grabbed it late on with one eyed Bobby and his celebration! Salah looked very tired imo!

Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford (well, eventually, when the team coach arrived!)

Well we made a right meal out of that but we made it out somehow. That's what Inter get for playing for a 0-0 against us at Wembley.

Inter were always going to bottle it against PSV, it's so typically Inter, especially with Spalletti in charge.

Obviously its been a while since the last posts here but blimey there's been some utterly crazy games in the Champions League this season, even before the sheer lunacy Man City and Spurs came up with last night.

So... today wasn't mundane at all despite the edge-of-your-seat miracle last night.

Its extraordinary that we're in a position where we have to decide which of Liverpool and Spurs was the more improbable comeback. Ridiculous and highly entertaining week.

I can take Tottenham getting to the final, especially the way it happened but they cannot win it ffs.

Well @VP. you got your wish, but I doubt you're as happy as @Dan !

Pretty dire final though.

Well done Liverpool!

Didn't watch it but I did gather a tournament of some ludicrous games leading up to the final delivered a tournament decider that fell way short of expectations.

Still not sure about the handball, even if I'm aware VAR requires a harsher interpretation of the rules around it.

Indeed very happy! Glad we got across the line but you're right, the Final was awful! Penalty was harsh if its given against you but you'll claim it all day long if its for your team, one of those!

Glad Origi came on and scored again!
