This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

I wonder if you can help with a technical difficulty?
I have downloaded and installed. All seems to be working well (I've got the real name for the Premier League etc). However, for some reason I have countries and club nicknames in (I think) Spanish.
Eg: Belgium showing as Belga, MUFC nickname "Red Devils" as "Diablos Rojos"
Can you assist in correcting?
Thanks
L0L0_Z
That happened with the last update of FM... =^/
Estudiantes changes for Forge FC
Banfield for Edmonton
Racing for Cavalry

Do you have some other editor data files installed perchance?
Try downloading and installing the latest version of this file. If that doesn't work, can you please give me the screenshots I requested?
L0L0_Z
Sorry for the inconvenience, everything is fine now, I didn't download the last update
Just an other thing, I have some files more than in the description, is it normal...? ^^'

All's good, don't worry. They're just the files added in the most recent hotfix, and I hadn't updated the screenshot yet, which you've reminded me to do

When you have the files in place, click the red advanced setup button in the bottom right of the screen, which will take you to a section where you can choose which nations and leagues to load. You then select the team to manage once the save game is loaded

i download FM20 Sortitoutsi Licenses Fix - Brazilian kit colour changes
but can somebody tell me why this 2 brazilian kits dont show real kits.. how to fix that
mons
This file removes the fake kits being displayed, like for example Fluminense kits being blue and white hoops. Those are indeed the correct kits. If you want the actual kits, you would need to download a Brazilian kitpack.
Hajdučki sin
Where can i get the normal Brazilian kitpack?
mons
I haven't found any, the latest SS kits I've found are from 2018.

Probably, but it's not my file and I'm not on my PC so I can't tell. Why not try it out yourself?

Dont understand mate..its ok mate
mons
I thought you were asking a question "is this ok"
I'll download it and use it in my save then, thanks
Hajdučki sin
Understand mate hahaha

I've been using the face packs and logos for years until earlier today. I installed kit packs for the first time earlier and they were all fine. So the final piece was to add these licensing and real name fixes! I should have quit whilst I had 99% of what I wanted, but trying to get 100% has actually put me back to 0%.
From the attached screen shot PDF is there any simple way of fixing what I have done wrong?
Cheers.
mons
What you've done is not read the installation instructions carefully. I ask for the dbc, edt and lnc folders to be deleted, but you've gone and deleted the 20xx_fm folder(s) as well, which as you will now have guessed include the actual database
Thankfully this is very easy to rectify; you need to verify the integrity of the game cache from Steam. Watch the gif on this page - it may be from a different game but it's the exact process.
Once you do it, you will need to install this file again; make sure you read the instructions more carefully this time

Anyone know if there is a fix repairing / adding diacritical marks to players from countries of former Yugoslavia?
mons
That is something which would need to be done manually for every name and surname (and possibly for every individual player as well), and I don't think anybody's taken such a thankless and gargantuan task on.
Jogo Bonito
I think I got messed up because I tried another fix, but I wasn't satisfied I had done it right then tried to remove it before applying your fix. I don't recall removing that extra folder but could easily have done when trying to remove the other files! Anyway, I verified the integrity and the other instructions were followed carefully and happy to say that upon launching a new game it appears to be all in order now. Thanks so much for your help!
For some reason it's not picking up the Chinese Super League kits that I have installed, so I will remove that and try again (whilst looking also for Brazil club kits and Mexican top flight ones).
Thanks once again mons. I might be in Malta soon so owe you a drink if that happens
M6
Not good. We in Poland have fix file adding diacritical marks
mons
Not sure what the issue could be for the Chinese kits. As for Brazil kits, someone posted them in this very thread a few posts above if you want to check I don't know of any 2019 Mexico kits, though
Hope you have a good time here. Feel free to ask if you have any queries, more than happy to assist
Yay for Poland. In the meantime, perhaps you'd like to provide this file adding these diacritics for former Yugoslav nations?
Jogo Bonito
It's taken a while to get to this stage but should be well worth it..Will PM you if my trip to Malta comes off

could try but I don't promise

Thank you for all your work!

Hi there, I'm just not sure what you mean. This is what it looks like with the club name changes editor data file loaded:
What's wrong with it as it stands?
zumraw
I did a few more tries and it's appearing Halmstads BK with all languages except French and German. No idea why, it's weird but not a big deal! Thank you again for checking
mons
That's a bit strange, I can't think of any reason why that could make a difference tbh! Surely a name is a name in whichever language.
Anyway, if you want it to be correct in your save even when using the French language, add the below to one of the lnc files and it should be save-game compatible
"CLUB_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 1796 "Halmstads BK" "French"
"CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 1796 "Halmstads BK" "French"
