This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

I can hardly release a file for a game which hasn't been released yet, can I? 😀 I'll need to test it a bit at least.
Rest assured, I'll do my best to release it as soon as possible after the release of the FM21 beta. Iirc, there were some files which couldn't work with the beta version last year due to validation issues, so we'll have to see if it's the same this year too.
MT55
No problem man, thats all I wanted to know, will it be after the beta or main game. I only use the beta to get used to the game so I'll like real names for main save.
mons
As always, I'll aim to release the beta version of this file for the beta version of the game as soon as possible after the beta release of the game, and the full version as soon as possible after the release of the full game. I already have in hand most if not all of the files I imagine will be required. It's usually within hours or minutes of release of the game depending on whether I'm near a PC or not 😀

This was one of the patches i used on my latest save and i kind of had some problems, probably not caused by this one but i'd still like to know if any other person had it. However when i search on google i didn't come across anything similar to my problem.
The thing is European cups are broken. Like ECL seedings are broken and you pretty much randomly get seeded in groups. UEL did play out normally in my first seasons until group stages. For a whole year it got stuck there and nobody advanced to knockout stages even after they played all 6 games. Until a year later, i went on holiday and knockout stages started to be played. And then on 3rd season UEL group draw wasnt made. So i quit and started a new save and the same thing happened again with UEL.
Has anyone ever experienced something like this? I really would want to know how can i solve this without deleting everything i patched.
PS: I had the same patches before and played 11 seasons without any problems then i had to format my pc.
mons
Nothing to do with this pack, which doesn't edit competition seedings.
Without knowing which files you have at your end, it's a bit hard to pinpoint where the problem could be. Whenever you're using custom editor data files, there's always the possibility that these kind of issues may arise, unfortunately, especially if they're not tested properly.

I'm not aware there have been any updates released for FM20 in the last few days. Did you need the verify the integrity of the game cache on that day perchance?
Anyway, whatever's happened at your end, if you redownload and reapply the file, then you shouldn't have any problems at all to get this file working.
Tommy Hughes
Just like mons said, I haven't noticed Steam updating FM 2020 either, so the files you mentioned should not have been changed recently by an update. There must be something else causing the issue.

If it's in the middle of a save game, you just have to wait till the national teams get called up again.
If you've started a new game and they don't appear, make sure the 2040 edt/permanent and lnc folders look EXACTLY like the ones in the screenshot.
Delvi
It is a save game, I will wait then. Thank you.

What language are you playing in?
Halil Veli
Im playing in english - I have updated the 2nd team name section the editor as well, so it matches up with the with the main club name but it doesn't translate into the game.
I'm 99% sure that I've done what you have done with Zebre U23's - but when I change the name it doesnt update
mons
I know there were issues with this fix being somewhat temperamental in languages other than English, so that's ruled out.
Are you starting a new game after making the changes?
Halil Veli
Yes, after I make any changes in the editor I always start a new game to see if the changes I have made in the editor have been made in the game. They all work, except for the French 2 team's.
I've tried to edit the "FM21 Sortitoutsi Licenses Fix - Club Name Changes" file - again only tried to update the french 2 team names so they match but its not changing.
mons
Is this for FM21? Why have you posted in the FM20 thread then? 😀
Halil Veli
Oh mannn! Yes this is for FM21, I have no idea how Ive managed to post this in the wrong comment section 😢

a) This file is for FM20, not FM21; are you sure you're in the right thread? 😉
b) You'll need to be more specific on any problems you're having if you want help to be provided.

This is the FM20 version of this fix not FM21 fyi.
Whichever the version, you need to be sure that the dbc/permanent folders look like they do in the respective screenshot in the main post.
Girito
Yes, I'm playing fm20. I've downloaded it a couple of months ago from Epic Games. I think it's got something to do with that, because I followed every step in the main post carefully. Take a look at my folder configuration if you can. Some files have been regenerated. Thank you again!
mons
You're probably looking for this file then 😉
