Alian62 over on the Sigames forum has discovered a hidden stadium editor within FM21, while it is very limited it does help add an extra layer to the 3D match engine. I have had a play around with it and have decided to include some stadium edits within the adboard patch, original thread here: https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/551501-stadium-editor

here are some examples

Bordeaux

Braga

The stadium editor is accessed via the FM21 editor place the attached file into this directory in order to unlock it; C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2021\data

Once in the editor search for a stadium and access the new stadium sides panel. through this menu we can add and remove stands, set a stand to be a terrace or all seater and add or remove roofs. This is all we can do though, we cannot change stadium models/textures, add or remove tiers from stands, add boxes/tv screens or have stands at different heights and/or lengths.

From playing around with the editor I have the following observations:

  • When changing a stand, it works best to remove all details effectively resetting that stand to 0, then making your changes.
  • When editing a stadium the capacity of all 8 stands must match the actual stadium capacity.

Here is a map of which stand is which

I am prepared to take requests for these but it is strictly limited to 1 stadium per person, also please note as these are done via a datafile they are not save game compatible.

Before requesting be mindful of the following

  • Stadium models/textures cannot be changed,
  • The number of tiers in a stand cannot be changed
  • Boxes/tv screens cannot be added/removed
  • The height and lengths of stands cannot be changed

Could I possibly ask for Aldershot Town to be done pal? Please let me know what you require from myself to assist with this. I have tinkered with FMRTE as I mentioned but then that needs doing for every new save. I can help with any images that you may wish to assist getting the stadia closer to the real thing (within its limitations).

For some reason one of the corners wont show the roof, but ¾ is better than nothing

If there is anything you think needs changed let me know, unfortunately it is not possible to increase the length of the side stands so it looks a little disjointed

Hi there, thanks for that. It is a shame that the main standing area behind the goal (East) and the corner (North) can't completely join up. Also I noticed that to make the East stand more realistic (ie: no entrance tunnels at the front of stand, I had to keep the stand capacity under 1000. It was a shame as Havant and Waterloovile have a more realistic looking ground but could never quite replicate it. The north stand (seats) runs the length of the pitch, whilst as you have it, the East Bank is covered. The way I did it with FMRTE, was to have no roof on the corner of both corners of East Bank, that did make it look a bit better. Thanks in advance.

I've played around with the stand sizes and even at a capacity of 100 the exits remain im afraid

There is nothing I can do to the Mercedes-Benz Arena, it is as close to looking like the real life stadium as FM21 will allow.

“we cannot change stadium models/textures, add or remove tiers from stands, add boxes/tv screens or have stands at different heights and/or lengths”

Why exactly is that ?

Do we know where the stadium files are stored ?

I'm talking editing or creating a stadium from scratch in a 3D program of your choice - this must be possible somehow, no ?

There are no options to do this within the editor. Sigames use their own bespoke software to create stadium models and so far no commercially available 3D programs have been able to open these files.

i prefer, that you talk with the amazing progaming genuie “juce” he create “sider” for pro evolution Soccer and much more. (in evoweb forum) He is brilliant. maybe when the full Community ask him , he will help for the FM Game. that would be amazing and a 100 % Game Changer.

Well that's dissapointing, but, do you, by any chance, know where these files are stored ?

The stadium models are kept within the simatchviewer.fmf file (kept in this location; C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2021\data). You will need to use the FM Resource Archiver to extract this folder. The file extensions of the stadiums are .sia and and .jsb

Thank you very much. It seems these models are made with “Silo” - but i will check that out and see for myself, maybe there is something i can do with this information.

Again, thank you, you were very helpful.

Cheers

I tired opening these files with Silo years ago, I could only get 1 file to open and the model in the file was locked for editing. Good luck!

Celtic Park with its smaller South Stand (I think it would be top left, top and top right in the editor) would be class. Do you know if it's possible to change the surroundings of the stadia too as I'd like to have a go myself and put Caley Thistle ground beside the Moray Firth where it belongs and not in the middle of a city!!

Thanks @rabcp

There is nothing I can really edit in Celtic Park or Anfield

Once again please read the limitations before requesting, this is only really suitable for stadiums which are massively inaccurate such as the examples of Bordeaux and Braga in the first post.

Before requesting be mindful of the following

  • Stadium models/textures cannot be changed,
  • The number of tiers in a stand cannot be changed
  • Boxes/tv screens cannot be added/removed
  • The height and lengths of stands cannot be changed

That option exist a long time ago in FM21 pre-editor. What we really need is a visualizer in pre-editor. At moment we just have FMRTE with a viewer option and isn't too good. Hope for viewer in the future or someone launch a free editor.
