11/06/2021: V3 Now Live!
This updated package contains four different versions of the Club World Cup.
Version 1 is an extension of today's annual 7 team format.
Version 2 is played biennially, featuring the 12 existing and previous confederation winners.
Version 3 is also biennial, with 24 teams in the main draw, following a single qualification round in June.
Version 4 is similar, but with 32 teams in the main draw, following two qualification rounds in January.

Please see the file guide for full details of each format, including which teams qualify.

This latest update was developed in partnership with Carlito85, and is now fully compatible with his latest UEFA Revival files, which you can find here:
https://sortitoutsi.net/content/58284/uefa-revival-12-featuring-the-european-super-league-fifa-club-world-cup-oceania-much-more

If you don't plan on using his UEFA revival kits, you can simply use type A of teach version, which is compatible with the base game and most other custom files

To install, simply place the .fmf files in your documents > Sports Interactive > FM21 > Editor Data folder and then load the relevant one in-game.

This is an amended FIFA Club World Cup designed to raise the profile of the tournament and bring more top teams into it without reducing it's level of exclusivity and legitimacy. The number of matches that teams play is kept to a minimum but the quality and significance of each match is improved.

Hi bud this file is awesome. I know how to fix the stadium issues. In each group schedule go to offset dates. Set up the fixtures for the group so in a group of three there would be 3 fixtures. Set each of the three fixtures to specific stadium in the drop down menu then pick each stadium for each match in relation to the host stadium. Also to the right set the fixture to 0, the second to 1 and the third to 3 so they don't clash on same dates.  Does that make sense lol??

Think that's how it is set up already? Works for some nations just fine, but then some nations just pick one stadium and hold all matches there (which obviously couldn't happen IRL because the matches are happening simultaneously at times).

Will keep investigating.

Attached are some examples ive just done. For example if it were in Japan as follows;

some countries have more stadiums than others. So if you picked Japan and put in 40000 capacity you will get 15 stadiums to choose from. Qatar is about 16 stadiums and so on. So again using Japan as an example pick 12 stadiums you want to use put them in a certain order for the first four groups then reverse the order for the next four groups that way you will not have any stadiums having matches at the same time on the same day. You can also do this for the Quarter-Finals, Semi's etc. Just below the dates tick offset dates and put in specific stadiums. I would then pick 4 Stadiums to use for the later stages.

This would just for one year only mind you!!!! For each year the competition is run you would change specific stadium to ask competition [Neutral]. This would also apply to the fixture dates you set up instead of stadium 1, stadium 2 etc.

This would just for one year only mind you!!!! For each year the competition is run you would change specific stadium to ask competition [Neutral]. This would also apply to the fixture dates you set up instead of stadium 1, stadium 2 etc.

So this is the issue- you can set specific stadiums for fixtures in ‘Stadiums for fixture’ or in the stages themselves, but this won't affect host selection. Do if you run that database, your hosts will continue to cycle through Japan, Italy, Holland ect. ect. whilst the matches will continue to be played in Japan. Equally, change those stadiums to three in a different country and the ‘host’ will still be Japan for the first edition, regardless of where the matches are actually played.

I could make multiple versions of this competition with different stadiums in each year, but the ‘host’ wouldn't match the actual host.

The issue is even if I list all the possible host nations, and specify the stadiums included, random hosts (individual stadiums) are still sometimes selected. When you specify a list of host stadiums, the host should be selected exclusively from that list- so it might be a bug.

Have also tested every combination of the ‘Host nation’ ‘pick from…’  setting- still doesn't work.

I have put use the stadiums for a number of years as 10 assuming you used a particular country twice within those 10 years.

Hi bud I have tested the competition in the editor but it has multiple errors. It's not working

Yeah, gave that a try too but I think the issue is that certain host rules are hard coded into the competition and can't be overridden.

I think I've solved the issue though. Just want to extensively test, but will upload later today if it's all working.

I copied the competition into a different advanced rules file to break the connection with the competition ‘file’, which sometimes breaks some of those hardcoded rules. My initial test suggests the host selection is still random but multiple stadiums are always used, which is good. Going to try to limit the host nations to a more limited and realistic pool, but if that can't be done, I'm not too worried.

No not yet. I thought I'd cracked it but still not working, still playing entire tournaments with a single stadium.

have you got your fixture dates set up correctly

like this so stadiums get shared around by Hosts-

L55DS

Yep, fixtures are set up right. The competition works correctly about 50-60% of the time, with eight stadiums holding matches as they should, but sometimes the host ois a single stadium and all matches are played there. Screenshots below to demonstrate-

2021- Competition correctly held in Japan

2023- Competition held in Estadio La Cartuja de Seville, Spain

2025- Competition held in Celtic Park, Scotland

2027- Competition correctly held in Brazil

2029- Competition correctly held in France

2031- Will be South Korea, I expect this will work correctly

Have attached the latest file if anyone else wants to look. Also contains other club competitions I was working on, based on an original database by @rabcp

I've realised this issue exists in the default 21.4.0 database too. The new structure only begins in 2025 and works correctly in Japan that year, but every tournament beyond this is held in a single stadium, see below.

Therefore if you use the default database, only 3 club world cups will be played between 2022 and 2030 (they start being played every 4 years) and beyond 2025 the host stadiums are broken.

Have raised in the SI bugs forum but won't hold my breath for a fix.

Hi Bud just a thought in the editor could run the file from 2021 to 2025 and then duplicate it and then run it from 2027 onwards??? That could break the cycle of it not working after 2025. I am not saying it would work but it might do.

Hi, testing something along those lines and results are looking positive so far, will let you know what happens.

Updated the OP now, but the issue isn't fully resolved unfortunately. Seems to behave as expected more often then not, but will occasionally still host an entire tournament in a single stadium. One caveat is that matches are being offset, not being played simultaneously, so it's at least possible for a stadium to hold a tournament in this way, however unlikely.

Will continue to explore ways of fixing it but kind of bored of trying to be honest- I'm fairly certain the issue is hardcoded into the game as it affects the default Club World Cup even more severely. I'd still recommend using this database as it's an improvement on the in-game default.

v02 live now.

  • Improved (but not fixed) the issue above with host / stadium selection.
  • Also added a rule so that the previous edition's CWC winner and runners up automatically qualify for the Preliminary round.

Hi bud thanks for your hard work with this file. It works really well now. I have updated a little and added a 2020 version in Qatar as IRL hope you don’t mind. I have been trying to create a working version of this file for a long time now and could never get it to run past the first season so we’ll done. This is probably the hardest tournament to recreate or adjust in the game and this seems to be the only file out there that works to the real life version so again well done!!!

Hi! I'll test this next week and let you know. If its one that merges CONMEBOL and CONACAF then it won't work, but if the two confederations are kept separate it should still work as planned.

I can made another version of this which is compatible with the CONMEBOL/CONCAF merger.

Well thank you very much, if it is a function that I think would look very good with your database

V3.0 is here, which will most likely be the final edit to this.

It includes 4 different CWC versions and was developed in partnership with Carlito85 so that it is now compatible with his excellent UEFA Revival files.

Any questions, let me know.
