This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2022 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs, as well as Manchester Utd, to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Another editor data file creates the Ajax non-playing staff and the German national team manager missing from the database due to licensing restrictions. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.
You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down menu
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.
STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack
STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

COPY the 11 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack

This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
As stated by SI themselves, for Gamepass, however:
You are not able to change the user data location as such but you can use the user data folder in Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2022 to store facepacks and graphics.

By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2022’[/spoiler]
This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese and German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Is it just me or the three letters names during the matches for spanish team are a bit off?
Osasuna is ATP for example, Villareal il VLR, Athletic Bilbao is ATB.
Also, is Juventus three letters name now JUV or ZEB? Anyone checked?

make sure that you're using only the latest version of the editor data, if you're using more than one then i would imagine that they can interfere with each other

Ive been trying to add these files to my SI folder but my PC wont let me have access. I just saw you updated the files today but i have no files in my modified windows folder.
Any work arounds on this?

I have made the changes but they're still not reflected - ie Zebre is still there - when I start a new game.
Is there any reason for that? I have done the changes several times in the past and had no issue.

1) I deleted 3 files ( lnc, edt and dbc) and I put the 1.2 files in the right place.
2) I edited the "Club Name Changes" file in FM 22 Editor like this.
3) I'm pretty sure I then select the editor data files when opening a new game.
4) This is the new game picture. Nothing in the team name has changed.

in xbox app go to the page of FM2022, click on the three dots “…” on that page and then “Enable MODS”. accepts all warnings, than click on “open mods folder”. it will give you access to the install folder with “data” and everything to mod.

Did you check Juventus as well? With the beta fix, juventus three letters name was ZEB for me (I did not try with Spanish teams though in the beta).

Remove the file titled Ajax staff from your editor data folder, which should look just like the screenshot in the main post.
There's a handful which need changing and they'll be in place for the next version of this file. Osasuna certainly but I'm not sure there's too much wrong with the other two tbh.
I'll be updating the Gamepass installation instructions shortly with screenshots on how to do so (thanks to @MrGizMo for this)
You haven't installed it correctly. Works fine for me. Check the installation instructions carefully and install it again. If you're positive you've done so correctly, send me a screenshot of your editor data folder so I can see if anything is the matter within there.
There are installation instructions for Mac (in spoilers) in the main post. Do they not help?
I imagine you meant the dbc folder. Those files aren't there in the build released yesterday, no.
If you're playing in Polish, you'll need to manually input any changes you wish you make yourself into the lnc file.
You can open the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file with Notepad and input the changes yourself using the same coding convention, with the difference that in the final inverted commas you insert the word Polish so that the game only makes the change when using the Polish language, as well as removing the # from before the code.
e.g.

I support Liverpool, as per my (now outdated) avatar, but I don't really play FM all that much tbph.
I'm not sure how to solve it, and just deleting one of them will cause all sort of problems in terms of scheduling etc., so I'm happy to leave things as is on this one.

Downloaded and copied and pasted everything via instructions. But it's not working properly. The Brazilian colours are right as is the German national team. But Man Utd's name isn't right and it's also my face packs and kits and logos packs seem to have been removed.
P.S I'm very new to all this, so please be patient with me.

Load up your FM and start a throwaway career, when you go to save, take note of the path used to save the file. Navigate to it, and that's your user data folder and where you need to place the editor data files from this download.
If the path in the installation instructions for this bit is not correct, please let me know - I don't have Gamepass so will need the assistance of the community on this.
What's wrong with the Man Utd name as it stands? This file doesn't edit any graphics stuff, which go in a different folder entirely, so I have no idea how they could have been removed. Can I have screenshots of your editor data folder and your graphics folder, showing clearly the full path?

That's the short name - when you click on it, you'll get the full name in the titlebar, which is how it's intended to be displayed

I got yourself to add the European Competition title bar colours in a few years ago. Thanks again for that.
However, i've noticed the colours don't seem to be working correctly in this update.

Good question and I've added it to the FAQ.
Reason: These persons do not appear in the default database for licensing reasons. This means that this file was forced to add them manually. However, this means that their UID (which is what is used to map a person's image to the right individual) is different, and so the game cannot assign the image to them from your existing facepack.
Solution: Individually download the cut-out faces that you want from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).
What do you mean? The FM22 skin doesn't display titlebar colours in the way we're used to. Is that what you mean? Or is the case of the wrong colours appearing?

They don't appear they way they used to but they still have a foreground and background colour like over at the top left hand side.
The colours seem to come in as default colours. Especially the Champions League one which is default grey. I tried editing these myself and got the Europa League and Europa Conference League colours to work but the Champions League doesn't seem to work still.

Nope he was removed from the FM22 database for licensing reasons, which is why I had to add him from scratch and why his face won't show.
Adding his history wasn't really a priority yesterday evening, especially since I had an unfeasible lot of trouble getting him to show. In the coming days, perhaps I can find some time to add it. Or some kind soul offers to do it for me (in which case get in touch via PM and I'll send you the file and tell you what needs doing 👍 )
