This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2023 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Premier League displaying instead of Premier Division. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Napoli) and French clubs, as well as Manchester Utd, to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Another editor data file creates the Ajax non-playing staff and the German national team manager missing from the database due to licensing restrictions. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Alternatively you can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down menu
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to English Premier Division in your saved game, and it should be renamed to Premier League. If you are in the middle of a save-game when you install this download, Japanese and German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Some organization names are not written in Turkish. For example champions league etc. but there is in the patch.
mons
Read this on how it isn't working right now 🙂
El_Fenomeno9
I did what you said but nothing changed. When it is fixed, it should write "UEFA Champions League" in Turkish, but it remains in English.
mons
Did you shut down FM and load it up again? Can I see a screenshot of what you did?
El_Fenomeno9
Yes i shut it down but nothing changed. I tried to replace #"CLUB to "CLUB but my problem is about the competitions name.
mons
I never mentioned editing the club name changes lnc file. The change to competition names is in the file with that name, and the one you provided a screenshot from 😕
El_Fenomeno9
I copied the files as described. Where else could I be doing wrong?
mons
In the screenshot you posted earlier of the Champions League code, you need to remove the hashtag from the front of the respective lines. It's really that easy 😕
El_Fenomeno9
there is no hashtag in front of the line.
mons
But there was here in your previous screenshot 😕
Have you shut down FM and reloaded it?
El_Fenomeno9
I fixed them. Yes, I turned it off and on again. I also reinstalled the files but unfortunately nothing changed.
mons
I see 😢

Portuguese Competitions and Awards have several mistakes in terms of names and grammatical construction.
2 files with the correct names as of this year and correct grammatical terms.
Hope this helps.

What does the file named editor data do I wonder?
Ollie 23
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the Germany & Japan national team. I’ve had the v0.2 fix files applied since the start of the game & I'm into December without those national teams having called up real players?
Thanks in advance
mons
No editor data files are in place yet, and when v1.0 is available, an explanation thereof will be added to the main post.
Then you haven't installed it correctly. Can you compare the screenshots of the edt/permanent and lnc folders in the main post with the ones on your system? If they're not the exact same, then you need to download the file again. If you think all is fine at your end, can you upload screenshots of these folders?
unbroken
The team names on the special signs for the cups do not reflect the truth, for example, the olympiacos club is actually abbreviated with 3 letters, but it is written as olympi in the game, can you fix it?
mons
I'm not sure what you mean. Can you give me a screenshot? Keep in mind that some things cannot be edited until I get my hands on the editor.
SJMurfin
Hi - I think this is by far the best real name fix for FM23 that I have seen so far - Great work!
The only thing I have noticed whilst playing up until now is that whilst in a match, Napoli's 3 letter abbreviation is still PAR instead of NAP or whatever else it should be.
Thanks!
mons
As per the previous post, please keep in mind that some things cannot be edited until I get my hands on the editor.
GodAtum
I'm confused. How come you have those limitations with the beta but FMScout does not?
mons
What limitations does this file have at present that others don't, exactly?
GodAtum
mons
And which of these are present in other similar files? None, because the methods to add the above changes cannot be done without the editor, which is not available and won't be until the game is released next week.
GodAtum
I assumed that because that site doesn't mention any limitations there aren't any. So FMScout aren't actually clear on their website unlike your post 🙂
mons
It's always a good idea not to assume anything not being explicitly said…
MortenDalhaug
Hi. Great fix. Just wondering if the nicknames of the teams are gone in other peoples saves?
The nicknames of the clubs in premier league are there, but they are missing in Serie A, Ligue 1, La liga, Liga Bwin and Bundesliga on all the teams. Any fix for that?
mons
Until I get my hands on the pre-game editor next week, this is unavoidable since all club name changes are done through lnc files and doing so automatically replaces nicknames for those clubs.
MortenDalhaug
Ah, i see! Not a big deal anyways. Thanks for your work year after year.
Siven
So if i install this now, will the additions when the full game is out work with an exisiting save or will i need to restart?
