CLUB #2 - RFC Liege

I'd been out of the management gig for around 2 months when RFC Liege came calling asking me to interview for the vacancy manager role. I went along, and was offered the job the next day. It's not an easy job, as they're struggling massively in the bottom tier of Belgian football, but I have half a season or so to turn the luck around and keep them in the league so we can build on it next season. I'll introduce you to the club now like I usually do.

CLUB OVERVIEW:

RFC Liege are a professional football team playing in the bottom tier of Belgian football: Nationale 1. They were the 4th team to register with the Belgian National Federation and were the first ever winners of the Belgian League back in 1895. They were actually founded in 1892.

The club focuses on it's tradition of playing local young players and on a popular faithful support. They were known for being homeless from 1995 & 2015 but have since moved into their own ground: ‘Stade de Rocourt’ in Liege itself.

More famously the club are known for not releasing one of their players Jean-Marc Bosman after his contract ran out, leading to the Bosman ruling; a European Court of Justice ruling that caused major changes to the structure of European football.

CLUB FACILITES:

Stadium: Stade de Rocourt
Capacity: 4,416 (1,500 seated)
Training Facilities: Average
Youth Facilities: Good
Youth Recruitment: Good
Youth Coaching: Above Average

Crazy final day of the season, congratulations!

Good luck for your next adventure in Liege, I understand that repeating this season in Latvia would have not been easy nor interesting that much.

The Season So Far | RFC Liege | Belgium

5th January 2026

I've taken over RFC Liege midway through a season, and it's a season that they are drastically struggling in. Before the season the media had them predicted to finish in 10th position. I can tell you they are dramatically below that prediction so it's my job to try and get them back on an upwards trend and climb that league table so we are safe for next season. That's the aim this season anyway.

The club has won a pitiful 2 games all season long, but have lost only 7 out of the 17. That means there are far too many draws that can be turned into wins for my liking. It's a stat I will intend to improve quickly. An odd goal here or there can turn this clubs fortunes around and turn them around on the quick.

The club hasn't won since the first month of the season and are on a 16 match winless run which is very concerning. I'll be looking to make some sweeping changes, get my 4-2-2-2 formation in play and get that building some chemistry. Can I turn it around? Who knows, but we're out of the Croky Cup as well after being knocked out by RWDM.

LEAGUE TABLE:

The league table isn't reading pretty as of now. The club sit in the relegation zone in 16th position. We have 14 points to our name and are currently 4 points off safety. It's not a huge gap and one that can be closed down very quickly. We can still win the title, but that's just a silly thought right now. Let's see how I get on this season anyway…

January 2026 | RFC Liege | Belgium

24th January 2026

One month into my career here in Belgium, and things have gone pretty darn well. I've installed my favourite 4-2-2-2 formation that relies on the 2 Segundo Volante's to get tup and down the pitch, and my two forwards to score the goals. It seems to work pretty well anyway, so I'll stick with it for now.

My favourite part of managing in Belgium, is the pretty favourable selection of beers, and the unlimited portions of fries on offer. Oh and the waffles. I'm happy here. It's my happy place, and I'll treat myself to a waffle and a beer after every win. That'll incentivise me for sure!

RESULTS:

10th January | SL16 FC | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

Well, what an introduction to life in Belgium. The club hadn't won for a long time, and it was long overdue, but even I didn't expect a 4-0 victory! We were magnificent. Maybe the lads wanted to impress me. Anyway, we took the leader as Schäfer finished off a good team move to give us the leader. His strike partner Tahiri headed home a second 9 minutes later. In the second half, winger Zidda added to the lead and Rousset headed in a 4th. Good start.

17th January | Zebre Elites | Home | Nationale 1 | Win
Make that 2 wins on the bounce. We narrowly overcame a good Zebra Elites side. After taking the lead early through Zidda, we made a poor mistake at the back and let them in to equalise 2 minutes later. We pushed them back though and took the lead just before the break through Schäfer. A close fought second half brought no more goals so the 3 points were ours. A fantastic start.

24th January | KSK Heist | Away | Defeat

It'd be unreasonable to think we'd win more games than not, so this result isn't a surprise to me. We weren't good and they deserved the win. 4-0 up with all goals in the second half for them before we got on the scoresheet through Zidda. Nothing more than a consolation goal, so we'll move on quickly.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Well, we've moved up 1 position and now sit in 15th spot after overtaking Rupel Boom. We have 20 points to our name and are firmly in the battle to stay out of the relegation zone. A couple more months like we've just had and we'll be safe and pushing up towards the top half of the league! It's quite closer still so lots to play for. Early days for me, but 4 months left of the season.

February 2026 | RFC Liege | Belgium

22nd January 2026

We're absolutely flying through the season now, having completed our 2nd month in charge of RFC Liege. Living in Liege is a wonderful life. Like I said, I've been treating myself to a beer and a waffle after every win and it's safe to say I'm putting on weight. I took my backroom staff out for a few scoops and we all bonded as a team. I managed to even sneak of early so that I didn't have the pay the bill. I'm not as stupid as I may look.

Anyway, I've managed to work the loan market for a couple of players as the squad was looking a little thin on the ground. I've got a few players not happy with the teams performance and they want to leave. I've said they can as I can't be bothered dealing with crybabies. We're on a good run of form and if they don't feel that, then they can go.

RESULTS:

1st February | Jong Genk | Home | Nationale 1 | Win
This is a fantastic win, considering Jong Genk are up at the top end of the league. A well worked move into the saw new signing Eldek get chopped down giving Besson the chance to score from the spot. He took it to give us the lead. In the 2nd half they equalised mid way through, but we went straight on the attack and managed to get a lucky deflection from the defender into his own net. A 2-1 win!

7th February | KSC Lokeren-Temse | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

I think this is the first time we played a team who were struggling like ourselves. My new tactic seems to be working and we're scoring goals for fun. A 5-0 battering away from home is a good result. Yamac Eldek got his first for the club, before a Zidda got the first of his 2. A Besson penalty made it 3-0 before the break. A second half stunner from Zidda made it 4-0 and a lateish Merlen header made it 5. A great result on the road.

14th February | Olympic Charleroi | Home | Nationale 1 | Win
The second time we've played a team battling it out at the top this month, and a second time we've come away with all 3 points. We were very impressive in this one. So many shots on the Charleroi goal and just dominating possession. I couldn't ask for more. An own-goal, a Zidda freekick and a Yamac Eldek side foot finish from 8 yards saw us come out 3-0 winners.

22nd February | RAAL La Louviere | Away | Nationale 1 | Defeat

We travelled to the team leading the pack at the time, and came away with an absolute ass whooping. We weren't great but they are a good team. They starved us of possession and we barely made a chance on goal. Not disappointed as we've been good so far since I took over. Bound to have blips along the way.

LEAGUE TABLE:

We've gone from 15th to 10th in the space of 4 games. We now have a 6 point gap between us and the relegation zone which is fantastic to see. The ultimate aim this season was to survive and then make a push, but we're doing that with ease at the moment. There's a little gap between us and the top half but plenty of time to close that and try and push up some more.

March 2026 | RFC Liege | Belgium

28th March 2026

We're edging closer to the end of the season and I think we're in a pretty good spot this season anyway. We had some fantastic news come through at the end of this month after weeks of receiving conflicting reports. The club has been taken over by a new owner and he's already put money in to fix our massive debt. We were operating at -£850,000 and now have a positive £250,000. It's already proving to be a fantastic time and I'm happy to be the manager. Time to kick on and tell you about the month we've had results wise…

RESULTS:

1st March | Diegem Sport | Away | Nationale 1 | Win
A game we should be winning, but one we struggled to gain any control in. We dug deep though and managed to stumble to a victory. We went ahead through Zidda after he did well to win it back deep in their half and score. We went 2-0 up through recently recalled to the 1st team Van der Ackerveken. He was dropped due to moaning about wanting to leave. He scored what turned out to be the winner as we conceded late in the game.

7th March | Verbroedering Geel | Home | Nationale 1 | Win
Another game where we stumbled over the line. The important thing is that we are managing to win these games. Under the previous manager the club would've drawn or lost these games. Ive instilled a desire to win into the team and it's showing. Van der Ackerveken got his 2nd in 2 games when he curled a beauty into the top corner. He's a good player and I'm glad to have him back. 3 more points.

14th March | RC Harelbeke | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

Our best performance yet against a good standard of opposition. Away from home as well! We went 1-0 up through center back Buisson. Schäfer fired home a second, before Gosselain netted a third. They clawed one back when we had taken the foot off the pedal, but we immediately put it back on. Omerovic headed home a corner before Eldek netted a 5th. Good result and a solid performance.

21st March | KVK Tienen | Home | Nationale 1 | Defeat

Our first bad performance of the month but it was bound to come. We've been excellent but couldn't quite keep those standards up in this game. We look tired and lacked energy and they made us pay for it. We only went into the break 1-0 down but they put the pressure on 2nd half and scored a further 3. A bad day at the office but we put it behind us quickly.

28th March | Jong AA Gent | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

This was much more like it and a fantastic way to end the month! 3-0 up before the break thanks to goals from Omerovic, Zidda & Gosselain meant that we were in complete control of this one. They clawed two goals back in the second half but we were still in control and forcing chances. We put the result beyond doubt when Gosselain scored his second and claimed us the 3 points.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Another 2 places climbed in the league as we've hunted down the teams above us. That's us up 8 places in 3 short months. That's some rise! Anyway, we're actually only 6 points off the playoff spots which would be a crazy turnaround. We have 6 games left I think so anything can happen. I'm excited to see what does happen, but I'm pretty confident we won't be finishing in the relegation zone now.

April 2026 | RFC Liege | Belgium

18th April 2026

I thought that the new owner had pumped his own money in the club to clear the debts, but that wasn't the case. I received an email from the board saying we were now starting to pay back the loan we've just taken out. Don't worry, it was only £1.5m! Crazy money at this level. I hope this doesn't come back to bite us somehow. I need the club to be making money, not losing it.

RESULTS:

11th April | Tubize | Away | Nationale 1 | Draw

When you head on your travels to the team leading the way, you know it's going to be a difficult game. We put in a real shift and deserved the point we got. In fact we had a chance right at the death to steal the 3 points but we smashed it wide from point blank range. Anyway, before that Eldek had put us ahead in the 19th minute with a superb strike from just inside the area. Perfect placement and power on it. We looked good value for the lead but they played a lovely ball into the box and the striker out jumped my defender and plonked a header past the keeper. A hard fought draw.

18th April | Rupel Boom | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

A game we should've won, and we did! However, I'm not delighted with the performance. We were sloppy in possession but we eventually made our quality show and pulled out the win. We went behind but were ahead at the break thanks to 2 quick goals from Schäfer. We went further ahead through Eldek before they pulled another back. We were disciplined enough to see out the game safely and secure those 3 points.

LEAGUE TABLE:

No more places risen in the league this month but we're still in with a shot of claiming another few spots over the last month. 3 games left so we can finish no higher than 3rd, but no lower than 12th. Job done ultimately, as we've secured our position in the league for next year which wasn't looking too likely when I first took charge!

End of Season Update 2026| RFC Liege | Belgium

23rd May 2026

That's the 2026 season done and dusted. Finito. Donezo. Completed it mate. What a half-season it's been for me since I took over. We took over the team when they were marooned down in 16th position and in the relegation zone. The aim was to make sure we survived in the league. The media had predicted us a mid table finish and that's what I was trying to salvage. I didn't expect us to have the half-season we did.

RESULTS:

3rd May | Young Reds | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

A crazy last 5 minutes was the story of this game, as it included 2 goals and a sending off. They went ahead just before the break with a stunning strike from distance. Just after the break Schäfer tapped home the equaliser, before putting us ahead 2 minutes later with another simple finish. It went quiet for a bit, but the craziness started late in this one. Omerovic was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving us a man down. They took advantage of our disorganisation and levelled the game up a minute later. We weren't done as a minute later Zidda went on a solo run and produced a lovely lobbed finish to give us the win.

9th May | Royal Francs Borain | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

The run continues as we pull of a stunning 2-0 victory over Royal Franc Borains. Eldek and Van der Acerveken with the goals in this. A simple performance with 2 good team goals and that is that. 3 points.

23rd May | Vigor Wuitens Hamme | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

The final game of the season is a fantastic one as we win 3-0 away from home. I always like the final game to be infront of our fans but that's not my decision. We went over and applauded the away fans who had travelled and thanked them for supporting. I promised them next season will be one to remember! Gosselain, Omerovic & Schäfer with the goals, all before the half time whistle.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Look at that final table! We started half way through the season in 16th position, and we managed to climb all the way up to 5th. If I had been in charge all season there is no doubt in my mind that we would've won the league. We only finished 7 points off the top spot, and 2 off a playoff spot. That's insane!

Definitely something to build on for next season! I'll be expecting a top 3 finish next year for sure!

Pre-Season 26/27 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

12th August 2026

Welcome to a new season here in Liege, Belgium. I'm currently in charge of RFC Liege in the Nationale 1 which is the lowest level on the Belgian football pyramid available on the vanilla database. I took over half way through the season last year, and took them from the relegation zone to 5th in just a few months. It was sort of like a miracle, but I'll always back myself to do well at any club.

There has been an array of changes at the club, with a number of key players for me last season departing the club as they didn't want to be part of the ‘Tongey Revolution’ as I'm calling it from now on. They left the club as their contract ended. Disappointing but I want players who want to be here, not some billy big bollocks who think they are better than us.

FRIENDLIES:

Our first proper pre-season is over and we've had a very productive set of friendlies in my opinion. We've played lower ranked teams, giant teams, and some teams around us so a variety of opponents. We got stuffed by Feyenoord but played pretty well, and had some massive wins to end the pre-season against KWS Clube Lauwe & RCS Verviers. Overall I'm happy with what we've done and now it's time to get going with the season.

August 2026 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

31st August 2026

I know it's been a long time since I updated you, but I've been away again. I'm back and about to start back at work which is disappointing but I've got time to play a few more seasons at the moment.

A recap, we're here in Belgium managing RFC Liege in the Nationale 1 which is the 3rd division in Belgium. We had a fantastic end to the year last season storming all the way up to 5th when I started in the relegation zone when I took over. It's time to now push for the title this season which I think is definitely within reach after last season's heroics. Time to bring you up to date on how August has gone.

Results:

16th August | KSC Blankenberge | Home | Croky Cup 3rd Round | Win
A massive victory at home to start the season. It's definitely a game we had to win as they are in the non-league portion of Belgian football, but a 9-1 victory is a bit mad. Omerovic, Malam, Goseelain (4), Lietaert, Debrouwere & Van der Ackerveken with the goals. I didn't start my first team but had the experienced players inter mingled in there to provide that know-how. A good start and into the next round we go.

19th August | SK Sint-Niklaas | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

A nice solid win to kick start the league campaign! Can't complain when you start with a clean sheet and 3 goals! An own goal just before the break gave us the lead before Rousset came on a sub in the 75th and scored 2 right at the death to make the win nice and comfortable! 3 points on the road.

23rd August | Diegem Sport | Away | Croky Cup 4th Round | Win

We power on into the 5th Round of the Croky Cup after another win against a non-league side. New signing Malam was on fine form netting twice in this one. He used his pace on both goals racing in behind the defence and firing low past the keeper twice. An excellent performance that ensures us our passage into the next round.

28th August | RAAL La Louviere | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

We just keep rolling, and hopefully, it wont' stop anytime soon! A nice 3-1 victory to round out the month! Raal La Louviere were one of the better teams last season so to beat them comfortably is pleasing. Nekadio got us off the mark with a bullet head in the 29th. Malam once again got on the scoresheet when he rounded off a lovely team move with a simple tap in. Lietart then rounded it off with a third in the 54th.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Only 2 games in the league so far, but we're on top of the pack, level on points wtih Virton & Zebra Elites, and also level on goal difference with Virton. Long way to go yet, but it's a fantastic start to the season.

September 2026 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

29th September 2026

September. Done and dusted, and we keep steamrolling along producing win, after win, after win. A little bit of news regarding my contract situation. It was running out, and the board decided they wanted to keep me on. I've signed a brand new deal which expires at the end of the 27/28 season. I'm now earning a huge £1,100 a week. Not bad eh?

Results:

5th September | Zebra Elites | Away| Nationale 1 | Win

A big game at the top of the table between two big teams! What a performance from the lads and what a game for the neutral. 9 goals in total! I'm glad we were on the right end of the scoreline though. Omerovic & Gosselain put us 2-0 up before the 10-minute mark hit, but they got one back in the 16th. Straight down the other end we went and Malam hit the first of his two goals. Goals weren't done in the 1st half just yet, as it was 5-3 when the whistle went. 2 after the 45 were up too! Malam & Debrouwere with ours. Debrouwere got his second of the game in a slower and less eventful second half. 3 big points.

12th September | Verbroedering Geel | Home| Nationale 1 | Win

Another game, another win. This one is not as exciting but just as important in our journey to the title. Malam, Debrouwere & Pulpito with our goals before they got a consolation in injury time. Brilliant performance and just what we needed to do.

19th September | KVK Tienen | Away| Nationale 1 | Win

We keep on rolling, and the boys put in another good shift to gain another 3 points. Lietaert got us ahead with a thunder strike from the edge of the box, which meant we were ahead at the break. They were level 2 minutes after the whistle went but Malam then took over. He dribbled round the defence and slotted home his first to give us the lead back. He got his second and our third in the 73rd minute with a well-placed finish from a tight angle. A good performance.

26th September | Lommel | Away| Croky Cup 5th Round| Win

Well, well, well. We dispatched a higher-ranked outfit in the Croky Cup. We were brilliant and fully deserved it too! Malam did what he does best and put us ahead in the game, before they rallied and were level 9 minutes later. We went in happier than them as Pulpito rose highest at a corner and plonked his header firmly past the keeper. The drama wasn't finished as Gosselain received a straight red in the 74th to leave us a man down with 16 minutes to navigate. They pushed, and pushed but we held firm and sent them packing out of the competition. It likely ends in the next round as we faced Jupiler League side Gent.

29th September | Lommel | Away| Croky Cup 5th Round| Win

We power to another 3 points and another month where we didn't lose. That's two in a row now to start the season. Impressive form which I hope will last. Debrouwere was the man of the match as he netted a superb hattrick! Nekadio & Malam with the others as we secure. 5-2 victory over relegated Virton.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Looks pretty doesn't it? 6 wins out of 6 and a lovely little 5 points gap to 2nd placed Zebra Elites. That's what it's about here in Belgium! We're outstanding as of now and deserve to be top. We just need to keep it going. Look at the goal difference too! A massive +15. Go on lads!

October 2026 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

25th October 2026

Good news keeps rolling in for me. I've finally completed the ‘Continental A’ License which took absolutely ages to complete. The minute I completed it, I asked the board whether I could start the next badge, and they came back two days later and said I could. I didn't expect that because the club is in serious trouble financially! It's definitely a pleasant surprise from a board that obviously supports me, and wants me at the club.

Things are just good here in Belgium, and the winning streak means I can continue the streak of sampling a little Belgian beer every evening with the backroom staff after a win. Excellent news and good times are being had. Onto the October results…

RESULTS:

3rd October | KSC Lokeren-Temse | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

The closest game we've had all season in the league, and I'm glad we just about squeezed through it. We weren't at our best but we did get the 3 points which is all that matters. Malam weaved around the defence and found the bottom corner to put us 1-0 up before they hit back just before the break to make things level at halftime. Debrouwere then raced past the last man and half-volleyed a fine finish into the back of the net to give us the win.

11th October | Oudenaarde | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

Back to being our very best as we put Oudenaarde to the sword in a 4-1 victory. Debrouwere was a fiend up top and notched another two onto his goal tally. Goesselain then made it 3-0 in the second half with a flukey finish at the back post which deflected off a defender and into the net. Centre half, Bery made it 4 with is head before they got a consolation. A good performance and win.

17th October | Jong AA Gent | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

The win streak continues, and against a good side in Jong AA Gent. We were 2-0 up within 12 minutes thanks to goals from Dobrouwere & Nekadio from the spot. The latter got his second from the spot as well, and was unlucky not to grab a hattrick at the death when his effort hit the post. 3 more points.

25th October | KSK Heist | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

YES! That makes it 3 months unbeaten and without anything other than 3 points each and every game. It was that man again who stole the show, Debrouwere found himself completing the easiest hattrick he'll ever get. One at the start, one in the middle and one at the end of the game. All 3 finishes were easy. Unbeaten.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Obviously we're still top of the table as we haven't lost at all. 10 games, 10 wins, 30 points on the board. The gap has stretched to 7 points between ourselves and Zebra Elites who occupy 2nd. How far can we go with this winning streak? I hope it's a full season!

November 2026 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

28th November 2026

The winning run comes to an end this month as we struggled to keep the same levels of performance up for another month in a row. Luckily, we've still been very, very good and have picked up points along the way this month. Just want to keep going and get out of the league as quickly as we can. We're more than good enough to do so. This has been a surprisingly enjoyable leg of the save so far…

RESULTS:

 1st November | UR La Louviere Centre | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

The winning run did continue against a very mediocre side. All the gals came in 2nd half in this thriller with the usual two goalscorers getting on the scoresheet. Malam & Debrouwere with a goal apiece with Omerovic getting one from a direct freekick right at the end. A brilliant goal from a Centre-Half.  Go on lads.

7th November | Olympic Charleroi | Home | Nationale 1 | Draw

Our first dropped points of the season, and it came as against a pretty decent team. It was bound to happen eventually and it came when we didn't perform very well. Nekadio did put us ahead in the first half with a good finish from the middle of the box. We gave them a penalty with a rash late challenge and they put it away to level. Not a lot happened after that, but a point is still better than none. Need to bounce back and not let a run of bad results happen.

14th November | Dessel Sport | Away | Nationale 1 | Defeat

One bad result turned into another one. We have actually lost a game in the league for the first time this season. Dessell are challenging us as best as they can at the top and they deserved all 3 points here. It was an action-packed 2nd half which started with a sending-off for Nekadio who received 2 yellows in quick succession, They then took the lead in the 71st, before we levelled through winger Lietaert. It wasn't to be held onto though as they took the lead again in the 83rd. We did hit the post in the 87th but that was about it for us. Our first defeat.

21st November | KVV Thes Sport |Home | Nationale 1 | Win

What a fantastic game for any neutrals in the ground! Sure this will be played a lot on the highlight show that evening! It took an 89th-minute volley from the edge of the box to win the game and that strike deserved to win it! Before that, Pulpito had put us ahead with Malam & Gosselain putting us further ahead. They did get two goals back before the break meaning it was 3-2 at the halftime whistle. No worries from us as Bery made it 4-2 with a tap-in at the back post. They then reduced the deficit to 1, before piling on the pressure. They equalised in the 86th and I thought that was it. Cue the madness and the celebrations as the volley hit the back of the net!

26th November | Gent | Home | Croky Cup 6th Round | Win

The giant killing of all giant killings! What the hell has gone on? We hosted top league side Gent in the 6th round of the cup and sent them away having been knocked out and with their tails between their legs. We were behind at the break and probably deservedly so. They were in control and dominated that first half. Second half though, we were a different gravy! Debrouwere got us level before they took the lead once again in the 69th. We weren't behind for long as Malam raced through a minute later and popped it home. Nekadio curled in a freekick to make it 3-2 and Rousset made sure with a powerful first-time strike. A monumental day for the low-league side!

28th November | Vigor Wuitens Hamme | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

Back to business in the league and back to winning ways. Debrouwere was in fine form netting both goals for us. He's an absolute menace up top that's for sure. He got goals on either side of the hosts' goal to give us the win. A nice way to end the month after struggling early doors.

LEAGUE TABLE:

We're still sitting pretty at the top of the pile. We've opened up a 10 point gap now which should be good enough to stay here for a while. We just need to continue that form and the title will be ours. 13 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss and 40 points on the board.

December 2026 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

24th December 2026

I'll just crack straight on with the results as there isn't much more to say! We have an absolutely monumental result in there this month, so keep your eye out. Won't take much to figure out which one it is…

RESULTS:

5th December | RC Harelbeke | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

A brilliant start to the month as we secured all 3 points at home. Comfortable and in control from start to finish. Schafer put us ahead with a downward header which found it's way into the far corner. We had to wait until the last 10 minutes to score again, but Malam rounded the keeper and tapped into the empty net, and then Pulpito curled one in from the edge! 3-0 the final score.

13th December | Young Reds | Home | Nationale 1 | Draw

An absolute sucker punch to deny us 3 points at the end of the game. We deserved all 3 but only got the singular point. Gutted! Leitaert put us ahead and it should've stayed that way until the end, but a last-second error at the back meant that we ended in a 1-1 draw. Not good enough for me I'm afraid.

23rd December | Antwerp | Home | Croky Cup 7th Round | Win

YES! last game we were on the end of a last-second goal, and this week we were on the right end of a last-second goal! This is the second time in two rounds we've sent a top league side packing! I'm delighted and can't quite believe what we're doing. Malam put us ahead with a nice finish from close range. They did draw level before the break with a good team move. They were putting the pressure on. Pulpito got on the end of a low cross to put us back ahead, but they once again drew level i the 82nd minute. We were trying to see the game out to extra time, but Nekadio had other ideas! He dribbled past 2 defenders and found the bottom corner! HE WENT CRAZY! THE CROWD WENT CRAZY! I WENT CRAZY!

LEAGUE TABLE:

We still have that 10-point lead at the top of the table with Dessel Sport sitting in 2nd place. I'm hopeful we can stretch that lead over the next couple of months and secure the title as soon as we can!

January 2027 Update| RFC Liege | Belgium

31st January 2027

Welcome to 2027. I can tell you that the New Year celebrations were quite wild. It turns out Debrouwere & Malam aren't just a formidable force on the pitch, but they can rock out on the dance floor and knock back a fair few shots. Myself and the coaching staff were watching proceedings from the balcony of the club we'd rented out for the lads. An entertain evening and morning for all! They weren't so chipper when they had to do hill sprints on the 2nd of January.

RESULTS:

9th January | SK Sint-Niklaas | Home | Nationale 1 | Loss

Maybe all the partying had a bad effect on the lads as they put in a stinker of a performance. We went behind within 5 minutes before Debrouwere pulled us back level with a superb half-volley. HIs performance went downhill and he was sent off for a reckless challenge on the stroke of half-time. They dominated with the extra man and went on to score 2 goals and win the game 3-1. Not great for us.

12th January | Charleroi | Home | Croky Cup Quarter-Final | Loss

Two wins on the bounce, but this one was more expected. We had already surpassed expectations in the Croky Cup having made the Quarter-Finals. Charleroi quickly showed why they were a better team than us and raced out to a 3-0 lead. We couldn't really muster anything of note but Debrouwere managed a consolation goal in injury time. I'm proud of the run we put together.

17th January | RAAL LA Louviere | Away | Nationale 1 | Draw

This month has been a bit rubbish so far, but at least we're improving slowly. We deserved to win this one, and after a drab first half we only just managed to take the lead at the death through Lietaert. We extended our lead through a penalty from Nekadio. We really should've seen this one out but let the lead slip in the 86th minute before letting them level it up in the 90th. Our first point of the month.

23rd January | Zebra Elites | Home | Nationale 1 | Win

A much better performance and our best performance of the month so far. We actually put everything together. Once again, the action was in the second half after a 0-0 stalemate at the break. We went behind before Bery headed home an equaliser, and we pushed for a winner. We left it late but Gosselain & Nekadio added late goals to give us the 3 points.

31st January | Verbroedering Geel | Away | Nationale 1 | Win

2 wins to end the month is a fantastic way to finish. Once agan we were pretty good value for this win. Lietaert, Debrouwere, Nekadio are all getting on the scoresheet. Not much more to say other than, we were pretty good.

LEAGUE TABLE:

The 10 point gap between ourselves and 2nd placed Dessel Sport is still there and we're motoring towards the league title. Our goal difference is massively better than theirs as well so that's always a promising sight. With around 3 months left to play, we're in a very good position.

Am a bit late to the party on this one mate, not been active online for a while. You've had a good number of great saves on here over the years. Definitely following!
