@Footygamer i wanted to ask you for a feature implementation, provided it is feasible - and give you some background info beforehand:

 

i research match officials / referees and their ids currently, in order to source portraits for them.

 

as an example, i pick a certain country and then go through all the competitions to see which referees are listed and which ones are missing portraits, like so:

 

germany - bundesliga:

the officials for the competition are listed underneath the participating clubs.

 

the problem arises when there are officials who have not been assigned to any competitions, like in these two cases:

 

zambia - premier league:

there are no officials listed. however, if i enter either the name diana chikotesha or her id 2000291847, i get a hit, including a portrait. she is listed with no competitions (she’s an active fifa, caf and pl referee).

andorra - first division:

only mário daniel ribeiro novo (id 95080046) is listed for any of the andorran competitions, but there are eight andorran match officials in the database - i’ll add two for demonstration purposes:

is it possible to add a search option for referees by nation in order to show all the referees included in the database, say i want to see all mexican or zambian referees, even if they are not linked to any competitions? a user told me that there is a total of 300+ mexican referees alone, to give you an idea.

 

genie scout does not have the same search option for officials as it has for players and staff, unfortunately, which means that i cannot extract the ids and instead have to rely on combining the portrait browser and fmref, but it’s impossible to close gaps that way when it’s based on guessing the names.

 

Just working through my todo list. Officials now appear when looking at a competition.

 

I haven't added officials to nations yet, i'm not 100% sure how to do that, Italy has 922 officials, which is too many to show on one page and the app has generally been designed for search rather than pagination.

as an aside, i have also begun using the fm in-game editor as a browsing tool in the meantime, which helps filter them by nation. combining both will greatly ease research.

@Footygamer just a quick question regading display limitations – i am currently working through the italian referees and it seems that the maximum number of displayed referees is 200, that’s where the listing ends - serie c and serie d. is that assumption correct? cheers.

Hi, I'm trying to find the ID numbers for a couple of teams down in Level 12 of English football which I downloaded via a lower leagues pack, so I can add their logos etc. I've tried the ID lookup tool, but it doesn't loo like it goes quite that far down. Is there anyway I find these ID numbers? Many thanks 😊

Yes, you can load this file in editor and check the id's there.

Our tool won't include custom ID's for packs you've downloaded for kind of obvious reasons.

 

You can also turn on unique ID in game in the preferences, but the ID may change every save if you're using multiple files that all create players and teams.

 

Click “Show creen ID's in title bar” in the preferences

Alot of people use the guides and graphics sections of the site to quickly find ID's for nations, competitions, teams and people in Football Manager. However this isn't the intended purpose of those pages and this task can sometimes be slow or cumbersome.

 

So i've spent some time putting together https://fmref.com/ to help people quickly and easily lookup IDs.

 

It's designed to be quick to use with results appearing instantly (if you have a fast enough connection) and no need for a mouse with a few easy to use shortcuts letting you search, navigate and copy ID's to your clipboard.

 

I'm open to adding new features if people have some suggestions but advanced searching for things like “Left Backs with expiring contracts” will not go in as this will significantly impact the speed and cost of the application.

 

Right now it does a query on every single keystroke, for some people with poorer connections this may not be ideal, i'm waiting on feedback before implementing any improvements in this area.

 

I hope to use what i've learned developing this to improve the quick search found around the site when adding data update submissions and other areas.

 

I'm going to tag some people who I can see in the logs search alot so they see this and hopefully give some feedback 🙂

Wow, this sounds like a fantastic resource! It's great to see someone taking the initiative to search for IDs so much faster and more efficient. I can understand the need to keep things streamlined, especially with the query on every keystroke. I appreciate that you're open to suggestions for new features while keeping performance in mind. I'll definitely check it out and share my thoughts. Thanks for putting this together—I'm sure it will be really helpful for many of us!

One thing that would be very useful if it's feasible is to include some kind of indication for clubs/competitions that are marked as extinct.
