No kits should have neither a league patch or anything similar. This is because we play over several seasons, and playing with a league patch etc after season one can look a bit silly, especially if the club is either promoted or relegated. 👌🏻

A Great Mage
There is a league patches pack that you can download that will apply league patches and even apply league winner patches. I am unsure if it is out yet but it does exist for FM24 so I am sure we will have a similar thing for FM26.

anyone able to troubleshoot why third kits aren't showing up for some teams? Everything else is working fine, the files are are there, but a handful of clubs including both milan teams I can't seem to show the third kits

This is because you need to download the 3D kits. We make the 2D ones you see in the game skin.

For Milan, you must have used the Sortitoutsi nofake. For the others, it's a database issue where they're not included.

Which nofake do you use?
Do you use any Serie A 3D kit packages, and if so, which ones?
I checked the config and everything is associated correctly.
Try deleting the package from the folder, redownloading it, and reinstalling it. Then launch the game.
Unfortunately, this year there are issues with the game not distinguishing between different files if they have the same filename.
