This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, youâll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

You have to click âshow packaged contentsâ on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Hereâs how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up âGo to Folder.â
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:

Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (â) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you donât see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database â Editor Data Files.

Thank you so much for this fix, I was getting annoyed to play Serie A with fake team names. However I found a few teams that don't get a name fix, they actually change their name that would be correct without the inc file.
For example Napoli without the real name fix is correctly called Napoli, but as soon as I extract the files it becomes Parthenope.
Same with:
Real Betis â Real Hispalis
Real Sociedad â Real San Sebastian
Deportivo Alaves â Alaves
Osasuna â Atletico Pamplona
Rayo Vallecano â Vallecano
Celta Vigo â Celta
Real Valladolid â Valladolid
It is weird because in the inc file they are actually called correctly, but then when I load my save the names are not written as in the file.
I did the workaround and fixed all of them removing the # (in some cases I added the short name and 3 letters cause they were missing) and fixed the issue. I didn't try it on a new save, so I can't tell if it's only an existing save bug.
By the way great effort, despite this very small issue I'm very happy with the fix.

I have installed the real name fix now every time their is an update as it stops working if I don't. It all works fine except for Napoli and Real Madrid. They continue to have their fake names of Parthenope and R. Madrid. Why is this happening and is there a fix for this?

It's not a competition as such, but this is set as just âWT7" which is really odd in the league list and doesn't follow the naming of the above tiers.

Ok, I just wanted to say that with FM26 Real Name Fix v2.0, all team names are correct except one: Napoli still has the name Parthenope. The correct name "NAPOLI" appears in the notes file, but the game probably isn't reading it. All other names are fine.

Some clubs have the same name, it's because SI create the same club two times âŠ. ! (2000340811 & 2000252739 or 2000252735 & 2000252734)

Just re-did this after the latest patch and while it fixed the Serie A club names (AC Milan, Inter, Atalanta all fine), it screwed up La Liga (which is the save I am doing). Real Betis is now Real Hispalis again for some reason, Osasuna is Atletico Pamplona again. It was fixed before, even after I installed the newest update yesterday. Now that I've reinstalled the real name fix though to fix the Serie A clubs, it reverted these La Liga teams.
Edit: Looks like there are more screwed up as well, the La Liga teams all have gone back to fake names and Napoli is the only Serie A club which wasn't fixed. Weird stuff

Got the same problem. Also, some u23 teams got wrong names. Inter U23 is back to Blu-neri u23, while the first team has the correct name

By the way, I noticed that you can rename the long and short names of reserve teams that already exist in the database and were created by SI, but you canât change the short name of a reserve team if you add it yourself to an existing club.

Those are in the PGE on the first tab of the club. They removed this functionality from the ingame editor, so you always have to start a new save for this.
There is also a LNC command for competitions to change colors, not sure about clubs:
