This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

STEP 1.
If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Here’s how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up “Go to Folder.”
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600
Once you’re in both the db/2600 and db/2620 folders, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.

Only Napolis name gets changed out the Serie A clubs now after this fix working for months with no issues, edited the file in the inc folder and thats done nothing

like Blu-neri = Inter

I like how the conversation goes, when a lot of people just keep saying that Napoli is not Napoli, and some of the clubs from Spain have incorrect naming, but in return they've got the same answer, that everything is fine for the new game, it is just us being ass-handed. It is hard to believe, but the fix fixes some of the naming conventions, but not all of them. Curious who can tell why.
I've never had any issues with updating folders in previous FM releases, only with this one. And yes, it is a new game, and yes, I watched the video, I read the instructions.

Because believe or not - if you follow all the instructions, it works.
When you load all the editor data files and replace all the necessary folders, it works. I understand, that you might be irritated, but some people just don't follow the instructions or have editor data files not loaded.
FM26 is a bit broken in the modding area, and we needed to create some workarounds. And yes, I have issues with some of the mods as well, but I've just re-applied everything and I have all the faces, logos, real name fixes, all additional leagues (yes, the ID issue is present, but that's the only one).
To be honest, I don't know what to tell you in this case. When I have the problem with Napoli name, I've found that I didn't have a club name change editor file selected.

Names in the editor always show up like this as they do not have the name fix applied, unless you load the name fix fmf file coming with the name fix update; but I would not suggest to work on that file as it gets replaced with every update.
Don't worry about them too much, as if you start your save with the name fix fmf it will load both changes, so one fmf changes the names and the other the kit colors, financial data for example.

Hi,
So I went digging a little bit before I saw your response.
I did find that it was using the Short name for the League and not the Full Name. I find it quite strange since I was sending a print screen of the Main competition page. But it is, indeed correct.
As for the rest, I've reinstalled everything and started a clean save, and it looks like all the names are correct. I also found that, during my testing, I tried using some name corrections from Steam Workshop and I had them subscribed, without even noticing it. It may have been the source of this issue.

So doesn't this get updated anymore? Brazilian clubs are now with the short names and I'm not trolling through 30 pages to find out whats going on

All you need to do is to read the installation instructions, and reinstall this fix every time an official update is released. The Brazilian club names probably won't be displaying correctly because you didn't do so.
Going by SI's Intended Approach to FM26 updates in 2026, an official update will be released in the next week or so, so it makes little sense to release a new version of this fix now and again in a few days, so I'm holding off for the time being.

The fix works. Every time people come in here saying that it doesn't, it's because they haven't installed it right. Forgive me for being impatient.

It was working perfectly. After a Windows update, I had to repair the game. I recreated the mod from scratch. Even though I did everything correctly, it didn't fix the problem. How can I resolve this?

With the exception of the 3 letter name (which is SLO), that's exactly the same as the default data. I don't think it warrants changing, let alone being a licensing issue 😕
