This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

STEP 1.
If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

DELETE only the dbc , edt and lnc folders

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Here’s how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up “Go to Folder.”
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600
Once you’re in both the db/2600 and db/2620 folders, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

STEP 4:
COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack
STEP 5
PASTE to \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\editor data
This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
Equivalent folder for Mac
Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.
Equivalent folder for Steam Deck

I may have done something wrong but since the latest update Atalanta are showing as Bergamo. The other Italian teams seem ok (Napoli etc.). Have I just installed it wrong or something?

They already show as Atalanta in the inc file. But still show as Bergamo in the game. Its for an existing save that was fine until the latest update. The I downloaded and applied this name fix on the 12th Feb.

It's a sequel to a game, not a new game. I never had a problem with the replacements when a new update came out and I replaced the files. Now why?

Cannot get it to work - doing everything exactly as per instructions but still seeing the fake names, logos, etc in game
The only difference in the process is the fact that my installation is on a secondary hard disk but I can find all folders etc there same as above
I remember on older FMs that there was a reload skin button to force the game to recheck the data but seems like this is no longer the case
Windows user, any ideas anyone?

I tried the first post workaround and the names are now correctly displayed - I was trying to start a new game though so no idea why it needed that
Logos are still not showing correctly though, still see the fake ones - any ideas?

If you're starting a new game and the names aren't displayed correctly by default, then chances are that you haven't installed the editor data folder correctly. You shouldn't need the workaround when starting a new game.
The logos aren't fixed via this download anyway, you'd need a logopack to get them sorted. Plenty of them here 😉

Stupid question maybe, but since i’m always just blindly installing this fix lol, what exactly does the bookmakers file do? Just change the names to real bookies?

Hi, after the update about an hour ago, I reapplied the file (in every single folder) and also used the Notepad method (as I always do), but I don't know why only Milan, Inter, Lazio and Atalanta have the wrong names, while Napoli, Lecce, and the others are all correct. Why? Usually, there were many teams in Serie A that were incorrect.

Can I see screenshots of all the folders this fix is installed in? File works fine if installed right, so it's just a question of identifying which part was not installed properly at your end.

Here are the screenshots of the folders. I followed the method by editing the file via Notepad. I've always done this since I started using this team naming modification, and it always worked fine.
Of course I also copied to the other folders, not only the 2600 one, but also 2300 etc.

Remember to delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders, and then put the one from this download.
Also, I'd need to see inside the editor data folder too now, to be sure you've installed it properly.

The editor data folder is under documents (as shown in the photo). I'm out of the house now and can't take another photo, but there's the config file and the four files created for the database. In the other photo I attached, I show the file that needs editing, which is inside inc (see the path address at the top). The inc, dbc, and edt folders are located in the game's installation directory (epic games), each copied into each game version (2600, 2400, 2300, etc.).
