I don't think he'll fit in English football. I'd rather have Darren Bent back.

Benteke is a better player than Bent and he would suit the style your lot play now. Bent wouldn't fit in a top team now but I would love to be proven wrong if he moves to Newcastle

Think he was talking about Soldado. Not Benteke.

Benteke certainly has more to his game but Bent will score goals wherever he goes, whatever team he's in.

His record is brilliant.

Darren Bent is the type of striker who guarantees goals, definitely worth £5 million.

Benteke has submitted a transfer request.

Doubt they'll be able to keep him and Bent won't want to stay, they'll be in trouble if that does actually happen.

I don't see why we'd need Benteke with Lukaku in the team anyhow. If we're gonna gamble on a young massive Belgian striker, why not use the one we have.

Because apparently Mourinho wants to sell both Torres and Ba so we cant just have 1 striker

Schurrle.

If he's only going to play one up top then you can't afford to have 3 strikers expecting to start.

I expect Schurrle to be used more on the wing the as a lone striker.

Also Charlie Austin has failed his medical at Hull

With the money they get for Benteke they could easily buy 2 or 3 top strikers.

Charlie Austin fails a medical at Hull City.

Does this mean "deal off" or would Hull - as idiotic as it seems - try and ignore that?

Steve Bruce said the deal was a 'non-starter' because of it

Yeah - just as I posted that I red an article that had these quotes.

Always can be a strange one - I remember Demba Ba failing his Stoke medical in 2011, and he hasn't really had much in the way of injury since.

Benteke is a good player but he's not proven yet to be a world class striker in Premier League. One good season doesn't mean anything (for eg Cisse). So I'd rather bring in Bent than Benteke, Bent is a proven goalscorer (Aston Villa, Sunderland) and for 5m he's a steal.

It depends what you want from your striker really. Bent isn't going to give you much in terms of build-up play, the rest of the team has to work for him. From what little i saw of Benteke he looked a lot more involved in build-up play and creating his own opportunities.

He's also unbeatable in the air. Benteke is miles better than Bent, Bent hasn't even been playing for the last 2 years so even £5m is a massive gamble

Darren Bent scored a quality goal as recently as the final day of last season, he's not a liability, he's just not Benteke's quality.

Suarez has been yapping in Uruguay again \o/

To Uruguay radio station Sport 890, Suarez said: “There have been no offers yet, but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want.”

He added: “My manager is in charge, he knows what I want, I am resting and relaxed. I am due back in about ten days, on the 21st of July (for the friendly with Melbourne Victory)… a phone call could change everything.”

On reported interest from fellow Premier League clubs, Suarez said: “Is good to know that I am still valued by teams like Arsenal. Friends call me up to ask if I am moving to Chelsea, to which I laugh.”

Suarez also warned: “Don’t believe everything you read or hear! I am sometimes off the grid. I don’t even know where my phone is sometimes.”

Most intriguing of all is the fact Suarez did not dismiss the links with Arsenal and Chelsea, which suggests, despite his protestations abouyt the English media, the Uruguayan could be willing to stay in the Premier League.

Benteke is more like a Target Man, Bent is likely to play as a Poacher.

Meanwhile West Ham considering a move for Downing lol.

Not the worst idea in the world to be honest. They are lacking someone on the right side. Him and Jarvis on the wings whipping balls into Carroll could be very fruitful.

All your Wigan belong to us.

Alcaraz is on a free and Joel plays for Athletic.

It's refreshing to have a manager come in and add strength in depth unlike dithering Dave who left his transfer till the last week of the transfer window.

Yeah, it's obviously a short term back up deal for Cech whilst Courtois is still out and about.

Common sense deal, really.

Apparently you're getting Deulofeu on loan as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Everton play this year.

Im happy with us getting Schwarzer really. Stops us spending wasted money on a keeper like Ruddy. Cant believe we bid 7 million to use him as a back up
