This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

STEP 1.
If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Here’s how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up “Go to Folder.”
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600
Once you’re in both the db/2600 and db/2620 folders, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack
STEP 5
PASTE to \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\editor data
This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
Equivalent folder for Mac
Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.

I prefer screenshots of the editor data folder to be sure. I'd also like screenshots of your dbc, dbc/permanent and edt/permanent folders, since there might be a chance they also weren't installed correctly.
As for your lnc folder, this:
is not the same as the one in your screenshot. You need to delete these three sub-folders:

I just got home and am attaching all the photos.
I saw your suggestion to delete those folders (all, greek, and platform). They were created after the last update. I didn't want to touch anything I'd never seen before.

Okay, I removed all the extra files that were installed in the last update from the folders, comparing them to the original files.
By deleting several files, the four teams are finally named correctly.
Thanks, but something like this has never happened before.
It seems that by cutting and pasting, it had kept the extra files.
I'll be more careful from now on!

The installation instructions are quite clear on this. You should delete the existing folders, and replace them with the ones from this download…

I have a problem with the name fix update, as some LaLiga teams don't have their real names, same goes with Napoli.

Hey guys, I see that the name for the Serbian Super League has been fixed, but there is still a typo with the second league. It should be Prva Liga Srbije, right now it says Prve Liga Srbije, which is wrong. 🙂

Hi there,
I have no issue installing the fix but I do have one after there is an update to FM, currently this is what I'm doing:
First I update FM, then I apply the fix according to the steps described in the post and finally I launch the game.
The issue is that by doing so, the game will not launch, even if I check the files integrity within Steam and install the fix once more. So far, the only way I manage is by uninstalling and reinstalling the game and the fix but there must be a better way…. what am I doing wrong? I'm on Mac if that matters, thanks!

I have not met anyone suffering the same issue, and I'm not aware of anything which could cause this. Can I see a screenshot of all the folders shown in the main post after you have installed this download?
And when you say that the game will not launch, what does that mean?

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. What I mean when I say that the game will not launch is that I'm getting a “this application is damaged” message.

For what it's worth, I'm running MacOS 26.3 on an M4 Mac mini and I haven't added any other 3rd party file

Hello, my problem just like some guys before - Napoli and all La Liga teams just not working with new version of fix. I install all like you says (and like many times before i install your fix) in instruction but this change only some teams like Inter/ Lazio etc. Start new game not helping solve this problem. Here some pics for your understanding.

I try english just now, same problem (and always yours fix working in russian localization from FM 2016 if i remember correct)

And have you changed the user data folder to point to that one? It's not the default path, after all.

I use some guide in Google (dont remember which one), because this folder weight (with all faces and kits) too heavy for my Desk C. I change path before play this game and FM24 and FM26 before last update work normally with name fix and all another stuff(faces/logo/kits) what you can see on pics (normal logos including Napoli)

But i dont understand why this time i have problem like that. 100 times before i do all the same way, but now i need change some files from fix by myself? And why this work ok for some teams, when another dont change on real names?
I hope this will be fixed in future versions of fix.

The workaround is for existing saves, normally, when you install the files correctly with the instruction (and select all the editor files when creating a new game), there's no problem with italy/spanish names.
All you have to do each time is delete dbc, edt and lnc files and paste them from the fix.

I have an older version of real names fixes. In the game it works but if I want to change a few things myself, where do I find this?

The default database has the correct Brazilian club names. For licensing purposes, SI add a file (I forget which one it is) that adds the fake names. This fix works by simply removing that file. This fix doesn't actually edit the names at all.

Can you show me all 4 in your screenshot? I'm seeing only the Club Name Changes, Bookmakers and Brazilian kit changes files in the screenshot.
If you're running both the Ajax staff file from this download and that from the FMEditor fix, then that'll be the reason why you have the Ajax staff duplicated, because you have two files doing the same thing…
