This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

STEP 1.
If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

DELETE only the dbc , edt and lnc folders

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Here’s how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up “Go to Folder.”
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600
Once you’re in both the db/2600 and db/2620 folders, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack
STEP 5
PASTE to \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\editor data
This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
Equivalent folder for Mac
Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.

i definitely installed it correctly i even went back and made sure everythings where it should be and everything that should be deleted is deleted. it does work, Sometimes. when using quick start setup it doesnt work but when using advanced it only works sometimes, and again sometimes it works but some names arent fixed and some are. its kinda hit and miss

After the new patch i have installed it into the folder 2620
now the names are back as before - but the german national team is now fictional names
i dont understand why? when i started the save the german national team was real players?

FM26 annoys me so much. I've ran the update and carried out instructions above. Most fixes work but now the club crest in changing rooms has gone, and Napoli name isn't won't correct. Add to that the extra faces I'd pulled from this database and added to the config file have gone and images not showing. Anyone else had this happen?

Yeah I had a save 3 seasons in with all the correct club names. Now only the spanish ones and Napoli have went back to the fake names Inter and brazilian teams are correct. I have replaced all versions from 2300 all the way through to 2620 with the new files and it wont change them back.

Because it was a very old file which I don't have the time to keep up-to-date, and superior equivalents already exist on the scene anyway.
I've no idea what it is that you're asking me here 😕
However, if you are in the middle of a save-game when you added or re-installed this fix, national teams will only be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately.
And have you applied the workaround in the first post, as pointed out in the thread title?

Have reapplied the name fix in all folders etc, but Napoli are still called Parthenope, as far as I can tell all others are fine. This is an existing save that prior to the update all names etc were correct.

Yes it works; it's you who most probably haven't installed it properly. Let's have screenshots of the folders in which you've installed the fix, showing clearly the full path please. Do you have an issue for an existing career or for one started anew?
They're working fine; the issue is at your end. Can I see the same screenshots as for the above user?

This is on a current save in season two. Napoli and Sociedad etc have reverted. All the rest are good including brazilian teams.

I asked for screenshots - please provide them. I asked for info as to whether this is for an existing save game or a new one - please provide it.
I have been told so many times in the past that the fix has been installed it correctly only for screenshots to show me it hasn't.

Hiya. I'm having similar issues. For me, Atalanta appear as Bergamo, La Liga has reverted to Spanish First Division and Germany and Japan have gone fake again. I know I can sort Atalanta with the workaround etc. I thought I'd done it all correctly, I've used your files for years and never gone wrong before, so don't what I've done!
Here's a couple of screenshots from my Mac. The 2620 folder is in the screenshot, the 2600 folder isn't shown but it's exactly the same. Editor data folder there as well.
I've been trying with a new save but keep seeing this. Grateful for anything you can suggest, cheers!
