I would like to see the FA have a go though, I sometimes think the constant news on racism the past couple of years is because football doesn't want to actually tackle homophobia.

Awful to hear my club was one of the worst. Not that many clubs come up well in that log. I'm also sure that the log won't have caught everything.

I doubt half of the supposed homophobic abuse was actually homophobic abuse.

Besides the point really. If you're going to be that ignorant and use demeaning slurs like the ones listed, you deserve every punishment you get, irrespective of context.

Unfortunately, some people simply never grow up.

Shouting "Does your boyfriend know you're here" isn't fucking abusive.

Maybe shouting I want to kill you as you're from an area commonly regarded as full of willy wooftahs could be investigated by the police.

People do need to man up.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading those chants. Especially given that Leeds are just listed as "several different chants" meaning the box provided can't fit them all in.

"Jimmy Saville, he rapes who he wants!"

I was at a game when Leeds fans sang that. I laughed.

I think some people need to grasp that football stadiums aren't the same atmosphere and context as in a more general public place. I'm not condoning it, but a stadium full of 40,000+ men -- it's mostly men -- who might traditionally be more homophobic, is probably going to involve a degree of homophobic chanting.

I wonder if that means Shearer gets to add on the excitement he brings

I don't understand why they need to 'breath new life' into the show when they have no competition and people will watch in their millions anyway, regardless of how shit the pundits are.

It can only be positive even if they have no competition.

Meh, I don't watch MotD for in depth tactical analysis. Plenty of websites for that, so I'm not fussed. Liked it when Roberto Martinez was doing punditry during the 2010 WC (I think?) though.

They should hire Desailly back. If his reaction watching Ghana was any indication, he'd be awesome

I normally record MOTD on Sky+ to watch on Sunday morning, I just skip through the analysis between games.

SCHMEICHEL!!!!! \o/

Shame Shearer is still a main pundit, but Lawro given a reduced role is a good start.

MOTD is on BBC iPlayer this season I think.

I find if I record it and then watch it half an hour later, I've caught up with regular transmission by the last game.

They don't half badger on a bit.
