I don't know who this Rangers loan is worse for - the prestige of them knowing they need Ashley's hand-me-downs, or the fact we've left three defenders go at a time when we're desperately low on them.

I hope Carver hits Charnley.

Can't get my mind around the deal. Baffling.

I don't know enough about rangers at the minute to comment, but are they actually going to play a lot? I'd have thought they have a decent team for the level already?

It's not.

Newcastle won't be telling us directly, I doubt it's in the contracts, it will be coming from Ashley.

True I suppose, but still there is rules for this type of thing, obviously not set up with "guy owns both clubs" in mind

I'm certain I've read that Chelsea and Liverpool have penalty clauses in their loan player contracts? Clubs get fined if they don't play the loan players?

I hope we get Moshni in return. He looks great fun.

Not sure you can do that. I think the legal way is for the parent club to pay the player's wages when he is playing games, and the loaning club to pay the wages when he isn't playing.

Chelsea don't as fair as I'm aware. Wouldn't make sense considering the number of recalled loans we've had because x side hash't been playing x player. Has happened with Kalas, Marin, Chalobah and Feruz, to name a couple who all returned and then sent out again to other sides because they weren't getting game time. While the likes of Astu and McEachran for example have only played a handful of games this season too.

I know the club weren't pleased about some, but they're in no position to force a loan club to play a player they've been loaned.

Pretty poor game by both teams yesterday down to the fact that neither could pass a ball to anyone in the same shirt. We did create quite a few chances to be fair which you just knew was going to cost us.

Really frustrating goal to conceded, given that it started with us having the ball in the corner with Obertan, 5 backward passes resulted in Krul punting it (as he always does) and handing the ball straight back to Stoke. Abeid could have taken a touch as it went back to him, he had about 10 yards of space and a lot of time but he decided to play a short pass back to Williamson who did the same to Krul. If Krul had a little bit more about him (say he was De Gea) for example he could have taken a touch and defused the situation as the striker jumped straight past him. I'm not denying that he's a great keeper, he made some quality saves yesterday but he really needs a bit more composure on the ball.

I'm baffled why we went with the same lineup we did in the first half against Hull where we were dreadful apart from one bit of brilliance from Cabella.

I struggle to see what everyone sees in Ameobi - gave the ball away every time he got it yesterday and created absolutely nothing.

Amazing that even non-football men like Charnley and Ashley can't see that Williamson isn't good enough for the Premier League either.

Totally agree with you, especially regarding Sameobi. He's got a really laid back attitude to the game, especially in the way he runs. What's even more frustrating is that he goes past people easily at times but like you say, his end product is awful and we lose it.

Williamson is only good as a batter-ram type header winner and nothing else. He even laughed at himself at one point when he got the ball on the right wing and cleared it straight out for a goal kick with his attempted cross

Must be so frustrating for Cabella being hauled off when Ameobi plays 90mins every week without fail.

Maybe Mike Ashley is secretly Dave from Newcastle, and his love for all things Ameobi has manifested itself in Sammy?

Cabella should maybe target his frustration into actually doing something other than fucking up his final ball every time. Ameobi and Obertan were far more dangerous than Cabella.

Dangerous in terms of giving possession away leading to Stoke counter attacks, maybe.

But I'm almost certain you're watching another game.

Ameobi was at the heart of all of attacking moves in the first half. Obertan managed to get a ball over leading to a goal.

Cabella played alright, but he didn't really cause Stoke too much bother and fucked up his final ball.

Also, I've been a season ticket holder for 10 years, and I genuinely can't think of many better CB's than Mike Williamson Newcastle have had in that time. - Seriously he's currently 4th.

Woodgate, Colo, Bramble, Distin, O'Brien, Taylor, Hughes, Faye, Rozenhal, Mbiwa all better just off the top of my head. Only Woodgate and Coloccini were Premier League class with us though - it's been that threadbare Doesn't make Williamson good.

It's never been our strong point, though.

And our best 2 chances in the first half came from work by either Cabella, Sissoko or Perez.

He was good in his first half-season tbf. But in 2005/06 he was fucking diabolical.

For most of the time since the end of the 2011/12 season, Williamson has been dreadful. I say most because he was improved in the first half of the 2013/14 campaign, but for the rest, its been trash. Same though could also be said of Coloccini, who has delivered a lot of terrible performances in that time. I think some new defenders have to be bought or we're in trouble. Saying that, the fact Nottingham Forest have largely dropped Lascelles is not a confidence builder.

I think we have this conversation a lot but I still feel Cabella is a better use of a spot than Obertan, which was not least helped by his double fuck up at the end. The frustrating thing about Sammy Ameobi is that there is a promising player lurking, but he is so wasteful in possession and gives the ball away stupidly large amounts of the time.

Woodgate, Hughes, O'Brien and Distin all immediately excluded. from being sold before the 2005/06 season. Rozenhal and Mbiwa just aren't.

Completely forgot about Perez' shot past the post, which was all Cabella. But the other 2 chances Newcastle created Ameobi was involved with.

Cabellas header was sissoko-cabella, sissokos chance was cabella-sissoko and Perez' chance was cabella-Perez. 3 best chances of the half.

Rozenhal and mbiwa are better than mike Williamson too, both weren't given a proper go here.

Given we haven't lost to Palace since the game after Fake Sheikh Gate, the odds should usually be in our favour. But I have a very extremely uneasy feeling about that smug tosspot coming back to bite us on the arse.
