So given how much both teams moan about their respective options there and Arsenal's reported mountains of cash would you be happy if you signed Rooney in the summer?

He'd undoubtedly become your highest paid player and you'd assume would cost about £20m.

He's playing like a pub player at the minute and most United fans seem to see it as evidence of terminal decline based upon the fact he hasn't looked after himself well enough and has so many miles in his legs so it would be a huge gamble, but would you be happy to see Arsenal take it?

When we were linked with Rooney about 3/4 years ago I would've absolutely have taken him. He'd have been a completely different player than he is now.

Arsenal will play a Major League Soccer All-Star team in a pre-season match in California on 28 July.

The match will take place in San Jose, before a fixture against Mexican side Chivas in Los Angeles on 31 July.

Manchester United, Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham are among other English sides to have played the All-Star XI.

"We are pleased to welcome Arsenal, one of the most successful clubs in the world, to compete against the best of MLS," said MLS commissioner Don Garber.
