My guess is, as the press said yesterday, Vidal/Carvalho won't be coming. Blind will predominantly play DM.

As LVG said, he may keep an eye on Strootman to see how he recovers and go for him in January/next summer. Which is odd if we're unwilling to go for Vidal due to his injury.

The Vidal/Carvalho stuff was info from a brief.

Given that we're basically briefing lies all summer (i.e. not interested in Di Maria until we signed him) I'm not sure how much I trust that. We're one signing away from having one of the better teams in the league imo. Just need to get them gelled and used to Van Gaals methods.

-----Blind-Herrera
Di Maria-Mata-Januzaj
------Rooney/RVP

Can also fit them into the 3-5-2, but that looks stronger to me imo.

Yeah that is true, the press said on the night we got Di Maria that Vidal was next, then two days later changed their mind. But it's looking less likely.

In time we'll be okay, as long as the club/fans are patient. I trust LVG to make it work, proven track record and he isn't David Moyes.

EDIT: United confirm the Blind news.

Negredo to Valencia then Falcao to City, according to Di Marzio.

How good is Shane Duffy, Deano? Think we're signing him permanently.

Edit - just seen he's only played 5 times for Everton, so you may not know how good he is!

Gutted he's leaving tbh, along with the majority of Evertonians. Has the potential, and he can handle himself and his opposition very well. I can't remember what match it was but he started and bossed the game, played a few games after then was dropped in favour of Jags returning from injury which we wasn't pleased about. Never really got a look in since. £1.5mill though is a steal.

Agger has left for Brøndby. £3m. He's a bit too good for the Danish league

Never particularly rated him tbh, although I would have assumed you'd have kept him over Skrtel.

Bit of an anti-climax for him seeing as Barcelona apparently were interested at the start of the summer.

Only wanted to move to Brøndby. Last season we had 9 clean sheets in 18 when he started. Only 3 in 25 when he didn't.

That's probably because you guys were playing Sakho so often.

And Toure. And Glen Johnson.

Shows how good that strike force was really, because that defence was utterly horrid.

God I hope fucking Kolo Toure doesn't play and football for us this season, he makes Johnson look like a world beater.

Song to West Ham looks like it's happening.

Duffy should be a great signing he played quite a few times for Yeovil last year as well! Very cheap too and a centre back is what we need. Thanks Deano for the info

Injuries killed Agger in the end, him and Skrtel looked so promising when we first got them. Still remember the 1-0 win over Chelsea in CL semis when he scored, one of the best defensive performances I've seen, marked Drogba out the game. Would have preferred to keep him as back up, rather than Kolo Toure...

Indeed, I saw it and had to convince my mates he actually said it.

Please let this put Benzema on the market and his contract renewal was just to bump his price up.

Daniel Taylor from The Guardian: Manchester United are still in the market for a centre-half and another midfielder, even with Daley Blind coming in from Ajax.

Changed his tune from yesterday.

From the article he said that in:

This part of the year certainly makes strangely addictive viewing even if it is difficult to think that anything on Monday will ever trump that night, six years ago, when the Abu Dhabi United Group took control at Manchester City and introduced themselves by spraying out big-money offers for just about every superstar footballer who might be available – including, as mentioned here before, a £30m bid for Lionel Messi in one of the classic Garry Cook moments (after a comment about “it’s getting messy” was misheard on a telephone line from Abu Dhabi and Manchester and somehow became “let’s get Messi&rdquo.

Can that be true?

That story has been knocking about for a bit. A proper City thing to do and very believable with Garry Cook involved.

Chelsea effectively letting Torres leave for £0? Jesus talk about spunking cash away.

No real win win situation in it. The other alternative was to keep him in the squad, taking up a foreign slot and on massive wages, while also not scoring goals.

Chelsea have actually maximised the best possible situation they had. Loan him out for the rest of his contract, Milan effectively covering about half his wages and this then allows us to then use that money saved and invest it into another striker who can contribute more- eg: Remy.

Speaking of which, apparently Arsenal have made a late offer for Remy and activated his release clause- despite 'Arry basically confirming he'll join Chelsea.

I wonder in the alternative universe where we didn't sign RVP how it would have worked out for him here.

I'm still not sure he'd have made it, seemed to lack the bollocks to take risks.
