I'm not sure its that clear cut and its certainly not £70m so. Money which, presumably, would be put towards a signing like Pogba.

Pogba signed a new deal in October until 2019. So unlikely he'll be sold for anything less than something ridiculous.

Would like to see Torres back, he didn't become a bad player overnight when he left us. Would work well with Sterling as well and he'd be the focal point up top which he never really was at Chelsea

Also apparently trying to sign Cech, now that would be something to get excited about

Absolutely no chance we sign Bale or Pogba.

I can see Liverpool getting Cech on loan. Mourinho will think he will be able to do a job against City to enhance Chelseas title chances.

Yeah it was a gradual process beginning months before he left you.

He's absolutely shot. People were saying that Milan would be a good move for him to go out there, get away from Chelsea and score some goals but he can't even do that, and now we're talking about a situation where they want to end a two year loan deal less than 6 months into it.

He'd scored 9 goals in 22 league games before he joined Chelsea, not exactly a terrible return given how poorly we were doing in the league

I wouldn't even take Torres on a free. He's fucking gash now.

Can't see Cech coming to us either. Even though we're nowhere near the top atm, I still can't see Mou letting him come to us.

He wasn't playing well though, and the signs that he was on the decline were already there.

He clearly had lost some of the pace that made him the player he was for you, and that seems to have now affected him mentally where even the absolute basics are beyond him let alone some of the goals he scored for you (that volley against Blackburn I think stands out). Its not an unusual story, and the same thing happened to Owen as well. Explosive players that get injuries tend not to age well.

Torres is pretty much a ghost at this point. He's got no business playing top-level football.

Aye, he seems completely washed up now.

As good as he was for Liverpool, they shouldn't even consider getting him back now.

Absolutely baffled why Pardew wants to sign another striker - at the best of times he only plays 1 there, very rarely plays 4-4-2, mainly 4-3-3 and 4-5-1.

We have Cisse, Gouffran, De Jong and Perez capable of playing there too, Gouffran is shit I suppose but that's still 3 players.

Meanwhile we have 3 centre backs, 2 of whom are absolutely dreadful and 1 of which is injured every few weeks.

We're also crying out for proper wide players as he's decided Cabella is just like Mbiwa - brilliant but not good enough for Pardew.

I don't understand why the club got rid of Romain Amalfitano. World class that lad. Pardew jealous of his magnificence.

And Boumsong, when Pardew decided he wasn't good enough for Newcastle and then went on to play for Juventus, the top class defender.

Realistically, Torres hasn't been the same since his knee injuries at Liverpool. There was always that hope he'd recapture the form he once had but that certainly long lost now. He doesn't have that yard of pace or acceleration he used to have that would get him in behind, which has resulted in his overall game having changed to adapt to this. While he's not slow, it's not enough to really cause a defender trouble if they're positioned well enough. That's not the say he can't be useful, he can, just not at the same level that his past reputation produced. He'd probably do better in a 2 striker system and at a mid-level side where the pressure/expectation to score every game or two isn't as great.

I do feel sorry for him, can't fault his professionalism though.

Fazio really is one of the worst CB's I've seen in the Prem. He's almost Squillaci level at the minute.

I actually laugh at some of the things he does, hes that bad. Madness that we sold Dawson to bring him in.

He somehow got away with a horrible tackle in the box as well today.

Was a stonewall penalty.

Dawson is the slowest man in history though.

Dawson is also a good defender and a natural leader. We are lacking both of those things in our defence at the moment.

Yep, so Milan have got the best deal I think, just think Torres is finished compared to what he was.

It's actually a decent business move tbh. There'd be no other real way for AC Milan to get Cerci without giving something back, so to effectively sign Torres to then use him as a bargaining chip to bring Cerci back to Italy, where he last played well, is a good deal for everyone involved really. Though, this is effectively Torres' last chance.

In a way, it's kinda like some trade deals you see in the NBA.
