The big campaign map is a bit like Civilisation, then there is a battle map that is real-time strategy.

I'm playing as the Scipii, right now I control the western half of North Africa, Sicily, the Iberian peninsula and Brittany. Building a large army to attack Egypt but I'm slightly worried about the Roman civil war potentially breaking out while I have all my armies out in the desert on the far side of the map.

I'm also having an issue as a few of my cities have grown to the point that they are close to unmanageable.

That's why I hate the Scipii. Thapsus and Carthage seem to grow far too fast, and it takes ages conquering North Africa. And by the time you've done that the Brutii and Julii will have divided up Greece and the Balkans. And Egypt are probably ready to invade from East Africa.

I don't think I've ever completed a full campaign with the Scipii.

Captured the African part of Egypt now, there's an absolute fuck-tonne of money to be had from sacking Alexandria and Memphis.

I almost never use the battle map, too time consuming.

I bought a PS3 because disposible income. £170 for the one with a big HD and The Last of Us.
Any recommendations? Not played any console games pretty much.

PS+ Best £40 you'll ever spend on anything gaming related.

The Infamous series is immense. It actually gives you the feel of playing a villain or a superhero if you want as opposed to just playing a game

I don't think I can imagine anything more frustrating than having computer issues. Decided to play a little Civ 5, naturally the damned thing refuses to even launch.

Aye it should be great. Couple of things I'm concerned about, still can't dampen my excitement for it though.

Btw Fallout 3: GOTY Edition and Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition are £3.74 each on Steam.

Someone I went to uni with works for The Creative Assembly what makes Total War games. Apparently it's really good, but he would probably be fired if he said it wasn't.

I think he'll probably attack from the West.

That trailer is so excellent, but I'm not sure if I'll buy it. I have Napoleon Total War, but I've barely played it, as I struggled to get used to it. And I'm sort of worried that with each new game it will get more and more complex. Where as I still really enjoy RTW and can get away with playing it quite simply.

Really looking forward to ROME2 aswell. Haven't really enjoyed Total Wars since Medieval 2 thoguh, as Shola said, they're just became more and more complex

I haven't really played any of the Total War games since Medieval 2 either, never really had enough interest in the settings of Empire, Napoleon or Shogun 2 to play them.

I'm not so scared of the potential complexity though, I've sunk plenty of hours into Paradox Interactive's grand strategy games (Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, etc.) in the past and there's no chance of Rome II rivalling those games in terms of complexity.

That'll do me fine! I think the size of the map did my head in a bit with Empires , scrolling through 3 pages was annoying.

"Here’s a sneak peek at something you won’t have seen before – the brand new Total War Launcher that’ll be shipping with ROME II. It brings a couple of cool new features, including the ability to “continue campaign”, jumping straight back into your last save game while skipping the intro cinematics. It'll also bring the latest Total War news and videos right to your window!"

That's pretty good. I need a console for the new GTA, really tempted by the PS3 (already had 2 or 3 360's). Put off by the tiny controller. Really does feel like it was made for a 10 year old girl.

Apparently there is a third party controller that is about the same size as the superior 360 controller

There's loads of 3rd party controllers that are basically the 360 controller, just google it or look on amazon

I worry that it'll be too much like Assassins Creed in thwe way you run, climb, and the general animations.

Might pick that up from the bargain bin at some point if I decide to get a next-gen console.
