Patch 1.1
Welcome to our first official release of our database, a project we hope to continue right up until the transfer window and beyond. We believe it to be an ambitiously in-depth database which is one step above rival databases currently available to you at the moment. Complete with vigorous CA/PA changes which go as deep as the Swedish ‘Allsvenskan’ to bring you a fresh experience for potential signings. We believe the knowledge we bring to the database is what really stands us apart from our rivals.
Who are we?
We are Chris (eng) and Carlos (swe/chi), two friends who have been working on various football projects together over a number of years. We both have an incredible passion for the game we love and met through playing an online soccer game ‘International Online Soccer’ around 10 years ago! Chris is a fan of his local Everton, whilst Carlos’ loyalties lay with Real Madrid with a rich family history of supporting the club.
What made us create our own database?
Honestly, we decided to start up a game of Football Manager because we hadn’t played for a couple of months and upon looking for a database for latest transfers, we couldn’t find a database that represented players current CA/PA correctly. We started doing just the Premier League only to start a game, but one thing led to another and we just ended up doing a whole database! It’s been a massive project, much bigger than either of us had expected, but we have both enjoyed doing it greatly.
Why would you use our database instead of an already established database?
When we decided to do the database fully, we both agreed that we would only do it if we made it better than any database currently out there. After comparing ours to all the leading editors out there, we are extremely confident that ours, if given a chance, will prove a more enjoyably accurate experience compared to real-life.
So what does your database include?
So this is our first release so we have been playing catch-up to databases that are currently available. Still though, we wouldn’t release unless we were confident it was worth downloading. We also made an effort in stopping the same mundane transfers that always happen at the start of the game (Marc Bartra to Man City anyone?).
Below is a list of changes made so far:
2014 FIFA World Cup
-PA/CA Changes of teams involved
So we went through the 23 man squads of every team involved in this years World Cup and made CA/PA changes for players who made an impact (good or bad). For example, don’t be surprised if Costa Rica causes an upset or two now with slight buffs throughout their squad.
UEFA Champions League
-Registered teams with correct round entry
UEFA Europa League
-Registered teams with correct round entry
We found the above two to be incorrect in other databases so we made sure it was 100% correct!
Leagues (overall)
-Relegation and Promotion for ALL playable leagues in the game
-UEFA Coefficients updated
We spent literally hours going through every single playable league on the game and updating participants. Certain leagues have changes the amount of participants for this season which unfortunately we couldn’t change. Also, Ukrainian clubs from the Crimea area now cease to exist to represent the real life situation over there.
England
-Premier League (Transfers & CA/PA, Budget & Wages, Managers)
-Championship (Transfers & CA/PA, Managers)
-League One (Transfers)
-League Two (Transfers)
England represents our most in depth changes, as this is all our database was going to be at first for personal use. Every single position has been compared throughout the league and we are happy that if you were to make a list 1-10 best right backs for example, the database would reflect that. We also adjusted many managers CA/PA and changed things like Roberto Martinez using the loan system.
France
-Ligue 1 (Transfers, Managers)
-Ligue 2 (Transfers, Managers)
We plan on bringing France more love in our next update!
Italy
-Serie A (Transfers & CA/PA, Managers)
-Serie B (Transfers, Managers)
We have done a thorough CA/PA check on every player in the league with the assistance of our friend MeanMachine - a Serie A fanatic.
Spain
-La Liga (Transfers & CA/PA, Managers)
-Segunda Division (Transfers, Managers)
Spain should also represent an accurate feel to real life with our very own Carlos watching La Liga week in, week out since he was a kid. (Even more in depth CA/PA next release)
Germany
-Bundesliga (Transfers & CA/PA, Managers)
-2.Bundesliga (Transfers, Managers)
CA/PA changes made throughout the league again with the assistance of our resident German friend Tsubasa. Thanks buddy!
Holland
-Eredivisie (Transfers & CA/PA, Managers)
-Jupiler League (Transfers, Managers)
Again, CA/PA should be accurate to real-life thanks to more assistance from our Dutch friend who is called ‘Iranian’ for some reason!
USA
-MLS (Transfers, Managers)
American friends, we wanted to add the new teams to MLS but it simply isn’t possibly i’m afraid. We also want to bring you some love with some CA/PA changes but Europe was our priority for our initial release.
Portugal
-Liga Zon Sagres (Transfers, Managers)
-Segunda Liga (Transfers, Managers)
Belgium
-Jupiler Pro League (CA/PA, Transfers & Managers)
-Belgacom League (Transfers, Managers)
Boussu have been replaced by Seraing FC after a 21 hiatus and have been promoted from the amateur leagues. With a squad consisting of 4 players, we think this would be an awesome challenge! We plan on going into more depth in Belgium in future releases.
Sweden
-Allsvenskan (CA/PA & Transfers, Managers)
-Superettan (CA/PA & Transfers, Managers)
-Division 1 Norra (Transfers)
-Division 1 Södra (Transfers)
Thanks to Carlos, Sweden is complete and accurate. Hopefully a Swedish user downloads our database so his work wasn’t done in vain!
Scotland
-Scottish Premiership (Transfers, Managers)
-Scottish Championship (Transfers, Managers)
We do plan on doing CA/PA changes for Scotland for our next release, so stay tuned Scottish friends!

Installation Instructions
Installation is just as simple as downloading the database and extracting it to your ‘editor data’ folder in the following locations.
If the folder doesn’t exist, create it.
Win Vista/7: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2014\editor data\
Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2014\editor data\
Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2014/editor data/
*We recognise the .dbc file is slightly larger than others, we believe its because there's two of us working on it and we sometimes merge the databases together.

Facebook
So it seems all the cool kids have Facebook pages these days, so we have set one up to keep our users up to date with everything that we are doing with our database.

There is no way to change the start date in Football Manager
Bradley Smith
TheSixthDay
It's quite a hefty job and unfortunately we only have that feature in England so far. We will make sure we have at least the top 5/6 leagues done for next Monday though
Bradley Smith
Awesome, It doesn't have to that precise, just better than £0, ha.
TheSixthDay
Yeah, there is nothing worse than spending 30 minutes deliberating what team to go, only to have £0 to spend.
We have tried to be as acurate as possible with the transfers and wage budgets. We gave them a realistic base amount, then took off any spending/sales and the respective wages too. For example, Chelsea were like 400k up on there wage budget just from Cashley Cole and Frank Lampard leaving on free transfers.

Much appreciated buddy

Louis Van Gaal still set to retire end of season
Luis Suarez ban needs to have an 8 game international ban added as well
River Plate, Dinamo Moscow, Galatasaray and Blackpool all have managers the update hasn't

You must forgive us, it is our first release and first ever project on something of this scale so we are bedding ourselves in with our first patch. We will fix van Gall and Suarez for second release next Monday though!
Regarding manager changes, we haven't gone through those leagues just yet but we are working our way around to them. The Blackpool manager is not in the game at the moment, so we need to create him!
TheSixthDay
We did have this bug at one point during the relegation/promotions. Could you load up the Editor Data and navigate to the Chinese Super League... Then check 'teams' and 'teams for next season'.. i fear 'teams for next season' will have 15 teams, so add in the one missing out of 'teams'.

You should really split CA/PA up into a seperate file as with the way it is at the moment, that will stop a hell of a lot of people downloading your update, its a very touchy subject.
TheSixthDay
I don't mind if people don't want to download it the way it is - but we have taken advice of over 50 people on CA/PA updates in leagues all around europe. It's not just our opinion
By the way I can't upload v1.2 because the file is too large... Can you delete the current link and just make it external?
