If he was ethical then why not previous sponsors? Does the Qur'an have a section saying what type of money is good and bad while saying alcohol branding is fine?

Muslim's aren't supposed to drink at all, so how alcohol is branded is probably irrelevant to them.

Then again there are claims Cisse is a regular at a casino on Tyneside, and gambling is another Muslim no-no. If true, it doesn't help.

The problem is that there's all sorts of misinformation and reliance on second-hand sources given the club never open their mouth for anything apart from special offers on our new training kit. Until then anything could be true.

I have absolutely no idea what the situation is given nobody official seems interested in telling us the truth.

Leaves us with Twitter, which apparently means he's either injured, pissed off with the Wonga deal, wants more money, been seen in casinos, had a bust-up with Pardew after the Sunderland home game last year or is being kept on a separate training schedule due to Ramadan. Take your pick.

That £10M+Mata deal would've been a great deal. For Man United. What on earth were Chelsea thinking offering such a retarded deal and on what on earth were MUFC rejected it for?

Assuming this is all true, of course.

I wonder what else makes Wayne Rooney 'angry and confused'. It must be a long list.

Why Sir Alex Ferguson has suddenly just got paler and grown ginger hair.

1 game, 1 win for NUFC from pre-season.

We're doing better than last season already.

Newcastle are apparently considering Norway goalkeeper Rune Jarstein as a challenger to Tim Krul for the no. 1 spot.

I really do not think there would be much point to such a deal.

We seem more interested in signing goalies then we do for the parts of the team that actually need strengthening.

There's a lot of doping stuff around at the moment from all angles - as well as this there's cycling, the Fuentes thing in Spain and the Australians had a doping scandal earlier this year.

The schedule will be tampered with a lot, no doubt. It'll be interesting to see who broadcasters want, given that BT have 18 first-choice matches.

There are 3 or 4 first choices in this selection (most notably the Merseyside Derby, Spurs v Chelsea and Spurs v Man United) but generally speaking, I think BT are holding their first choices until later on in the season.

Some of Sky's moves to put derby games (Manchester, Tyne-Wear, North London, South Wales) as Sunday 4pm kick-offs is interesting given the recent trend for lunchtime clashes in these matches. Though I daresay the relevant police forces may come along with opposition to these plans before long.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't shack up with Birmingham as they are closer than Northampton and have a similar sized ground to the Ricoh.

It's not as if they get that close to filling the Ricoh though - I think the venue was closer to being sold out when Muse and Bruce Springsteen played there this summer then it was with most, if not all, 2012-13 CCFC games.

The fact Northampton have to expand their ground to make this work is also pretty unhelpful, although I daresay there won't be that many Coventry fans making the trek anyway.

The FL have officially confirmed Coventry are going to have to ground share with Northampton as their financial situation has forced them out of the Ricoh arena. Football League

Guessing it must be a relief for Walsall fans not to be the ones lumped with the basket case club.

What really baffles me is the fact that the current owners of Coventry City have set up a subsidiary group which is now the preferred bidder to buy the club. Surely if they've been in charge during a period of heavy duty fucking the club up, they shouldn't be allowed back in.

Steve Bruce said the deal was a 'non-starter' because of it

Yeah - just as I posted that I red an article that had these quotes.

Always can be a strange one - I remember Demba Ba failing his Stoke medical in 2011, and he hasn't really had much in the way of injury since.

Charlie Austin fails a medical at Hull City.

Does this mean "deal off" or would Hull - as idiotic as it seems - try and ignore that?

5m for Bent is good business, wish we'd hurry up and get it over the line

Maybe about to hit the skids - Benteke has handed in a transfer request so Villa may want to keep him.

Apparently we're prepared to offer £6M+Steven Taylor for Loic Remy. If we did £6.5M+Mike Williamson, maybe...

I don't have the eyesight to play tennis The cash in it looks awesome though - almost as crazy as football wages.

Still, well done Andy. I thought it was all gonna go wrong at one point or another but he made it through everything to come out the other side with the trophy and the cash. So yeah, kudos.
