McClaren just said that was a good performance

Section him now

Sixth away defeat in a row, 17th in 21, yet another game without a goal, and on the back of 18 days without a game and a Spanish jolly, and its yet more of the same.

Fucking hell this club's a joke. 2 1/2 weeks off... think I'm going to need a few more.

(Gouffran was our best attacking player)*

*Aside from Doubia who looks like he has a bit about him.

It took us 90 minutes to trouble Butland by the sound of it. It looks like we came for a 0-0, just like at Everton, Watford, West Brom and all the rest, and once again we couldn't do it because we can't defend for shit.

The Donald Trump lookalike is taking us down, almost as quickly as SportsDirect's fall out of the FTSE100. Its all a fucking mess.

Arsenal 1-2 Swansea

Why is that not surprising in any way?

It baffles me why we'd stand off an out of form Everton and an out of sorts Stoke but attack an inform Chelsea.

Stoke are here for the taking if we actually want it

Yeah. Its a bit perplexing and nonsensical.

Then again appointing McClaren was also perplexing and nonsensical.

Not watching as I can't get streams to work (something about Flash) but Sky's pundit reportedly said we're playing a "low energy game", and Elliott has twice played it to the Stoke end without anyone getting a touch... not a great sign.

Shevley being a captain is an odd surprise. Meanwhile, Wijnaldum only plays at home (which considering he's our top scorer is not helpful), Sissoko has been garbage for most of the campaign, and Gouffran is Gouffran. One wonders why sign Saivet or keep Aarons and De Jong if they can't get ahead of this bunch.

Yeah given they have the tightest Prem defence, dodgy is a strange word to use.

If you want a more accurate team to refer to, then Newcastle is your best bet. And with the added protection tonight of Sissoko, Wijandlum, Colback and Gouffran - none of whom do anything in away games, while our only away game winner this season (Perez) is benched again. Oh goodie.

Toure should have been off for that.

He's such a fucking penis its unreal, but lol at Lallana squaring up to him.

Toure was basically picking Lallana up at one point. Bit of a mismatch that one.

And that's true Sam, Newcastle fans on here did predict this would happen with Palace/Pardew.

To be fair, we can't really throw too many stones at that glass house right now given how fucking useless our choice of replacement has transpired to be.

But yes. Palace's form pretty much reminds me of our form over the last two seasons - reach top 5/6 by December, primarily useless afterwards. Even if it was Pardew's coaching staff who inexplicably managed to get one point from 11 games at the end of last season, mind.

Great seeing all three English teams through! Now time to avoid each other next round

I think you might have jinxed that tbh.

Dortmund v Spurs has the air of a very good looking tie on paper. Will be interesting to see which way that goes.

You genuinely have to wonder why a living brain donor in the WBA end at Reading felt the need to chuck a 50p piece at Chris Brunt's face.

I thought Spotlight was a very good film, but I honestly preferred The Big Short.

The Revenant is probably going to win the Oscar for Best Film though.

We're more negative away from home than at home, but we're playing very badly, and it all comes back to the spectacularly shit call to appoint a self-delusional moron that we should've seen as damaged goods when he destroyed Derby's promotional hopes last season.

There's reports in the morning papers saying he's signed up for a big US TV show and is quitting the role.

So the three title favourites are now Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs... wonder what the odds of that was.

I get the feeling a quickfire double defeat to the Foxes and now this is putting Man City's title hopes in major trouble.

Aye he's pretty lethal.

I hope Hodgson just accidentally forgot Sturridge last night when he mentioned people like Walcott and Welbeck as striking options for the Euro's apart from Rooney, Kane and Vardy.

We're gonna be playing Rooney as a lone striker and Kane might get thrown on if England are losing 1-0 to Wales in the 88th minute.

Probably.

I would say the penalty was gamesmanship, but a correct award as Monreal stupidly stuck a foot out and Vardy went over it.

Saw a few saying Simpson should not have been shown a second yellow, but nah, it was. Arsenal don't seem to be doing well at testing Schmeichel for the moment, mind.

McClaren seems to be in denial. Time for him to fuck off.

Everyone in black and white stripes (except maybe Townsend and Doumbia) was awful, and we looked beaten from the moment Costa opened the scoring. Thank fuck we have two and a half weeks off from these clueless wankers.

Presumably it will never actually be used because they'll get a new sponsor for the new season (they're only changing it to remove the Barclays themed branding) and they'll use one that fits in with that instead?

They've said they want to do something like the NFL, in that the Premier League brand is kept alone and they instead have a series of partner sponsors rather a title sponsor like Carling or Barclays have been. So no.

As an app logo it looks excellent but I think it only really works as an app logo. On the shirt sleeves, I agree the font looks shite. Its not as bad as the 2012 Olympics logo was though.

I thought Rotherham sacking Neil Redfearn after only four months was insane - this takes an even greater amount of piss.

I also read the statement by Mel Morris about "the Derby way"... the fuck is that about?
In addition, it also makes reference to the previous 2 years without referring to the architect of that... would they like Newcastle to return him?

On the results, blimey nora - Leicester for the title might actually be happening. Still think top 4 is the limit, but they're indisputably in with a shout now.

Good to see a Newcastle win, although it helped that West Bromwich Albion came for a 0-0 and didn't change that ambition even after Mitrovic's goal. Also, what odds on Tiote getting another goal disallowed for an offside teammate blocking the keeper? Thank Christ it didn't end like it did against Man City 2 years back.
He's gotten an awful Palace side safe from relegation. They're closer to Man United and European football than the drop zone.

Pochettino and Ranieri are proving to be genuine world class managers this season, I'd argue the next crop this year would be Flores, Koeman, Pardew and Billic. - and maybe Eddie Howe.

He's a victim of massive overachievement this season. Palace player for player aren't exactly a million miles from Norwich or Villa, and Palace have spent relatively little, Bournemouth have spent twice as much, Watford three times as much.

I guess its easier for us to mock given Palace fans seemed adamant they wouldn't go on a repeat on some of the shit runs he managed at St. James' Park, and they're now on a similar run of 8 without a win. Pardew's also now the first PL era manager to lose five in a row with 3 different clubs, and they've sunk from top 6 to bottom half - sort of like what we did in 2013/14, only quicker and shitter. I'd say Palace are better than Norwich, but Villa isn't the worst comparison, although that's more a hallmark of how much Sherwood and Garde have ballsed up.

I think he'd be a good manager if he sorts out these recurring fallibilities.
