Jobs for mates.

Same reason Pardew is your manager.

Sadly true. Though given I thought Pardew would have been fired by now on more than one occasion, regularly fucks up substitutions, and has to deal with a key departure at least once every two windows, he's doing well for himself.
I guess that's Jack Rodwell's career at City over then.

Did he have one in the first place?

I can't find the original article either but I have seen an Twitpic of the article headline with the quote, and further ones of Sky Sports News from earlier this month repeating the quotes. But if JFK has nothing to do with transfers, then what is the point of him being at NUFC?

Meanwhile, Grenier has said 'I can nearly say that I will not be going to Newcastle. I have lots of objectives I need to achieve this year with Lyon.'

Hardly a good omen, but apparently these were said before we bid. Maybe there's time to change his mind.

Luuk de Jong has signed on loan for the rest of the season, while Cabaye has left for £19M. Which feels a bit like we sold him on the cheap.

Dunno if Photoshopped or not but there's a Tweet going round of Luuk de Jong on the cover of the programme for Saturday's game.

It appears we have made a 'substantial bid' at least. All we can do is wait to see if Lyon decide to deal.

Pardew says we're not appealing and I suppose its sadly the way we're going to have to to do this. Like he did at QPR a few years back with Barton, Johnson exaggerated the headbutt's impact but that works as a tactic to get somebody sent off, and the FA law books will count it as a valid excuse. Hell, we've done that before when James Perch went down like he'd been shot after Reina aimed a head in his direction, and Liverpool (I think) had their appeal rejected.

Brilliant - Cabaye sold, Ben Arfa injured, Remy sent off.

This is absurd.

It's reported in France that Grenier would be interested in a move to Tyneside, and certainly it would mean side-stepping the Montpellier chairman given he seems to hate us.

Luuk.

A striker joining is overdue but of course we need a Cabaye replacement now as well.

Some tickets for the Newcastle-Sunderland game are going for 200 quid on viagogo.

I'm used to seeing gig tickets at least double-face value on that shithole of a site. But its amazing Arsenal are using them as inspiration by inflating the value to obscene and scarcely affordable values.

What I found annoying was the amount of stuff from PSG saying they didn't want him, be it players, fans and at one point, Monsieur Blanc himself. Throw in JFK saying "no players would leave" - he was quoted as thus - and it reeks back to the Andy Carroll scenario. In fact, 5 days ago, the press were saying Cabaye was happy and wanted to stay, and PSG would not bid.

The 11 hours figure earlier may well have been bullshit but it is certainly been a quick affair from what had been seemingly no interest. Quicker than anything our lethargic buyers can do by a long long shot.

Well it is incredible. Because you've just plucked some numbers at random.

Its football fandom. You tend to have moments of spouting unreasonably histrionic and wildly inaccurate bullshit at times. Though the 11 hour figure is on Twitter, and is probably down to what it felt like being at least. Chances are its been in the works for a little while, most likely when he was spotted flying to Paris on FA Cup 3rd Round weekend.

I don't have the confidence in us signing anybody, nevermind all 3. If we can pull off all 3 signings, we've had a better window than it looks now. I just fear it will remain as it now - same squad as we entered January with, sans Cabaye - which will see us coast to the end of the season locked in the top half and getting another derby defeat.

His attitude is always gonna be sh*t.

He was good at Roma and a consistent scorer yet was still hated especially towards the end, and there's a reason he ended up at Southampton (a good team but only high mid-table at the end of the day). Bad apple.

Pretty sure I red somewhere he got in trouble at Roma for punching Lamela during a match.

I don't think £14m is an awful start to negotiations. Would imagine Newcastle would deal at around £20m, I mean, I know the worlds gone mad, but Cabaye isn't actually THAT good.

We're reportedly unwilling to budge from £25M. But if Fellaini is £27M then Cabaye has to be on a par with that.

Tbh, I don't get why PSG want him - Cabaye has said on more than one occasion that he wants to stay, PSG don't really need him and their main players like Ibrahimovic allegedly don't want him. Which means I half expect that arse JFK to sell him for £10M on deadline day with 4 minutes to go.

I'm surprised how many are willing to accept Mourinho's line of events. I find it fairly bizarre they're so willing to sell a key player and one of the world's best in his position to a team that could bounce back and be a threat to them, whether its this year (unlikely) or in the future.

Stoke and Cardiff have announced a swap deal for Odemwingie and Kenwyne Jones.

Or a "swop" deal as the official Stoke City Twitter put it.

A friend of mine saw Wolf of Wall Street a few days before I did and when I was talking about it with him he described it as a softcore porn film with story attached.

Tbf, he did have a point. Lots of drugs, sex and financial jargon. I enjoyed it though.

Resigned because he wasn't being given what he felt was a competitive budget after finishing 13th. Karl Robinson guided them to the play-offs 2 years running after that.

That was it. Which kinda shows him up given Robinson was his assistant, I think.

West Ham already bid on Ross McCormack from Leeds.

Leeds reject bit from WHUFC for McCormack.

Makes a change from all of Leeds' key players going to Norwich I suppose.
