Sky are claiming we've re-opened talks with Gomis and also want to re-sign Demba Ba on a season long loan.

I'm guessing the only way we'd get one is if we sell Ameobi so we'd have a replacement. Though it's more likely we'd only get one - nevermind both - if we sell Cabaye.

I'm sure that's happened with Yeovil before.

It did way back in 2004 according to SSN, albeit in more ridiculous style when a Yeovil player tried to return it from his own half and somehow lobbed the opposition keeper

EDIT: Also, after their opening game with Watford, Lee Clark said that had Birmingham scored from a similar scenario that he would've let Watford walk it in. Though as Brum didn't I guess that point is moot.

Yeovil-Birmingham seems to have descended into farce - with the score 2-1 Brum at 90, their keeper kicked the ball out after one of theirs was injured. Yeovil duly took a throw in and scored.

Then, after Yeovil scored in extra-time, they started the 2nd period by letting Birmingham walk the ball into the net.

Apparently we were offered Jordan Rhodes by his agent and said no. It also appears Andre Ayew is not a target despite Kinnear being at a recent Marseille game to watch him play.

Nah Newcastle played pretty well, probably shaded the first half and improved after the break. Dominated the final twenty minutes. Newcastle didn't ever really look like scoring. Although West Ham had two really clear cut chances, they didn't create much else.

Pardew deserves credit for actually shaking up team selection, and making better substitutions, such as taking Cisse off and leaving on Shola on.

Fans were a lot better than last season, but still a few moments of negativity, such as booing substitutes (Sammy looked a lot better than Marveaux) and booing possession. Newcastle fans really hate having the ball. But they actually got behind the team for the final 20 minutes.

Anyway it's amazing how many fans are determined that Newcastle are in TURMOIL and are almost certainly going to be relegated, yet scoff at a point against a well organized West Ham.

Also unveiled this banner, again displaying conclusively Joe Kinnear is more intelligent than a sizeable segment of Newcastle fans.

All the reports I've red from NUFC fansites and the media say West Ham had the best moments of the game. Though it says a lot of both team's attacking abilities that there was 1 shot on target in the whole game.

Tbf a point off West Ham is 1 more than we got in the home match with them last season, which I guess is a start. Three woulda been nice though. We also sounded better than the shambles at the Etihad on Monday, although it would have been an achievement to have been any worse.

We still need some new signings though. Fuck knows where from though. Apparently JFK was watching Marseille's Ayew but given all the false dawns for signings I'm waiting for any deal confirmations before getting excited.

I was out but apparently we played like drains again, save for Sammy Ameobi and Gouffran somehow failing to score.

If we don't beat Fulham next weekend then it could be a problematic campaign.

Newcastle United supporters can now order food and drinks direct to their seat on a matchday via a new mobile app.

VenueMenu is a new app that is free to download and available for Apple, Android (4.0 and up) and Blackberry devices.

The app, which will be running from the Magpies' Premier League fixture against West Ham game on Saturday, allows supporters to order food for immediate delivery to their seat.

Food can also be pre-ordered up to 24 hours before a fixture or until the gates open on a matchday for delivery at half-time.

Imagine if all the 50,000 people in the stadium try ordering at once. That should be fun.

Yes that was confirmed more or less as soon as I typed that sentence.

Pardew has said the Arsenal bid that came before the Man City game is the only one we've had for Cabaye so far.

By that logic Newcastle have improved by the same magnitude as Man City. We've improved by £70m from last season.

We're gonna improve by £20M anyway given this new TV deal - apparently 20th earns more than the Champions League winners.

Suarez bid was not 'insulting', it was smart. And the Cabaye bid was made on Sunday, Pardew just mentioned it on Monday to deflect from the fact that he was gonna get hammered by City anyway

Aye considering we got beat 4-0 by City in March with Cabaye in the side, its not exactly justified using it as an excuse this time round.

We still could have done without it on the verge of the game, mind.

I hope that's true, because it's fucking hilarious.

I really don't get why PSG or Monaco want Cabaye - to them he'd just be a back-up player as they're so overstuffed with attacking midfielders already.

Saying that I also think that if we feel strongly on Cabaye that we should just refuse to engage with Arsenal. Something I doubt if they dangle a £22M carrot in front of Ashley's nose... although in fairness that does sound like what we're looking for.
