Matri was linked with Sunderland too.

Although I think they've been linked with every Italian player/person/pasta dish/ice cream since Paolo Di Canio arrived.

Bit like us and the French connection we have.

I'm not saying that Naples is all that good - I'm almost certain they had a big riot there, and its in the bit of Italy getting it most in the neck from their economic problems. But I'd have thought that, having sold Cavani and Lavezzi in consecutive years, Napoli would wanna keep hold of a key player or two like Insigne. Plus I'm pretty sure he'd just move to Turin or Milan soon enough.

Quagliarella is probably a better bet.

Aye it's shit how promoted teams all spend a fortune these days.

They should be forced to sign players from a list of Premier League back up players and relegated teams better players. One big money exotic signing only, who is likely to flop and be loaned back to their native country in January. (Someone like Mauro Boselli). At least Steve Bruce gets it.

The amount of wealth in the Premier League in general is absurd anyway. It just happens some are more willing to flash the cash than others, particularly Championship sides promoted who panic by thinking survival can be achieved by forking out huge sums when QPR provided the perfect argument against that theory.

Not that last season completely disproved it for new boys given big-spending Southampton stayed up and a Reading team that spent very little went instantly back down.

It's the foreign owners and their short-termism.

The same thing will happen if Leicester/Forest get promoted, or worse.

I can't imagine Crystal Palace forking out £8.5M on Dwight Gayle is that good thinking. Though who knows.

Agreed on that second point though, assuming Leicester ever get promoted given they seem to have managed big-spending mediocrity in the Championship. Forest maybe a better bet for that.

Apparently Cardiff are about to sign Gary Medel (who's a total nutcase, for those who don't know) from Sevilla for €13m.

Deal confirmed.

Is this a weakened City lineup?

According to their Twitter, their starting 11 read Hart - Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy - Fernandinho, Toure - Silva, Negredo, Dzeko, Milner

So, not really that weak.

Yes, but it's probably the TV money that he's spending.

True.

Its probably the combination of wealth as much as anything.

Is the Cardiff owner that rich?

They've already forked out £17M on Caulker and Cornelius (the latter of which is already injured) and he's cleared Cardiff's debt so I'm guessing he must be loaded.

Hull Tigers is a ridiculous idea. Surely people will follow the team if they're successful, not because they have a snappy brand name.

Obviously they wouldn't do that, would they?

From the derby in April:

Always seems to happen at SJP - normally games at the Stadium of Shite see us wear our away kit or home shirts/white shorts.

How on earth would that work for Newcastle, Sunderland, Stoke & any other team who play in stripes?

Yes I don't think that bit was thought through.

Watching us play Sunderland is usually confusing given we both wear stripes and black shorts. Its previously been quite confusing to see which side is which when we've turned up in both, as both sides did in the game at SJP last season (given the result/performance/riot that's the only thing I want to remember about that game).

For £40m to Arsenal? Not a chance. Arsenal will have to pay £55m+ to get him.

I guess that's the market.

A thoroughly preposterous market where Bale is worth £120M based on semi-fictional speculation, but a market nevertheless.

Middlesbrough have been desperately poor all 2013, well done Stanley though.

3 wins all year, right?
They've fallen off the fucking cliff. It feels ridiculous to say this 2 games in but Mowbray can't have long left in him.

Brighton being beaten at home by Newport County is also ridiculous, even if Brighton had a guy sent off.

It's actually not bad. Better than the other uses of that template, like Swindon and Swansea's terrible kits with that one.

Not heard anything about it, but we will be having one.

Suppose you kinda have to given the amount of blue on your main away strip.

Why don't Liverpool just let him go? I'm sure they can spend that £40M on players and put the extra £1 towards a decent barber for Raheem Sterling.

Tbh I think it's the first time we've done it in a long time, if even ever that I remember. The only upside of it could mean that we would play in our 3rd kit a couple times more.

Have you seen your 3rd kit, or heard rumours of what it may be?

I really don't get why some teams have away kits that have a substantial amount of their home colour as an away strip.

Admittedly this is from someone whose team has had white and black away kits before.

Suppose we had to sign somebody eventually. Should be a good signing too, albeit 7 months later than planned.

His 'music' group are currently touring America. Might be tricky.

Bet someone goes in 2-footed if he plays.
