LvG's press conference lasted five minutes, in which he answered two questions, said he had assurances from Woodward, Fergie and Gill and then walked out.

Not handling the pressure well anymore, usually the stories in the press don't affect him. Tbf it was the club's fault, they should have come out and said something by now.

Despite I think he's taken us as far as he can, I love the guy and feel sorry for him now.

Van Gaal hates the press and has done so for his entire career. I wouldn't read anything into his comments.

They used to be and some hope to still be, that's the depressing thing.

Honestly, that's the only reason I used the quote. When it comes to former footballers, if they really knew the game they wouldn't be working as pundits. Clubs would be on their knees begging for someone with Michael Owen's achievements to work for them in some capacity if he actually understood football.

Amazes me that pundits that are allowed to speak on television are still questioning whether Ozil is a good player or not.

26. Had a nice quiet one, birthdays are pretty tame these days! Got Fallout 4 mind, so that'll be the reason I fail my January uni exams...

Hate to break it to you, but you've already been closer to 30 than 20 for a whole year.

I see Real Madrid had a narrow win today.

Getting two men sent off against Real Madrid isn't advisable.

On second thought, if PSG do decide to hire Mourinho, any chance of Blanc going to United?

Pep is going to go to City and Ancelotti will replace him at Bayern. No idea who will end up getting the permanent job at Chelsea, but Brendan Rodgers would be fucking hilarious.

Zidane is Real Madrid's man in the long run, but they will probably appoint another lame duck to keep the seat warm while he gets more experience.

I'd love to see Mourinho in charge of Roma. Never going to happen though, best they could hope for is Spalletti coming back, though I'd put my money on Mazzarri getting the job and just fucking everything up.

Mourinho will probably end up taking a sabbatical, unless he really fancies the PSG job.

United will keep Van Gaal for a third year, then they'll appoint Giggs as his successor, just to make everything even worse.

I think Shearer hit the nail on the head with his comments about Liverpool saluting the fans on MOTD. If Klopp really felt yesterday was the best atmosphere he's had at Anfield since he took over then it was right for him to make a gesture to the fans to acknowledge their efforts.

The imbalanced tournament format is in their favour, and they have an easy group. If they don't slip up and win theirs as they should, they won't face another group-winner until the semi-final, and that will likely also be the first strong team they'll face in the entire tournament. They'll face a 3rd placed team in the round of 16, and should they get to the quarter-final they will meet the runner-up from group B or F, both weak groups.

At the opposite end I feel pretty certain that Italy and Belgium will have a poor tournament, based simply on the format.

I'd pick the middle one if I were you, unless you already have an external harddrive that you can store stuff on. 128GB will get filled up *really* quickly.

Pongolle was 17 when Liverpool first signed him. Players who break through when they are in their teens often end up seeming like they've been around forever, especially if their careers decline early.

Not sure what you base that on Franck? He just isn't a winner. Each season is getting worse. The 0-2 Atalanta game reminded me of Zeman's final game in charge. Where you just know it has to be the end.

No way will Roma finish above Juve or Napoli unless things change, they'll be the top two (not sure which order). Inter looking a good bet for third although long way to go yet.

It's not so much that I believe in Garcia, I just don't think Inter, Napoli or Fiorentina look like potential champions. To me Roma have the most talented and balanced squad in the league, over 38 matches I think that'll separate them from the others.

FM Base is really only tactics discussion though, isn't it?

Anyway, our site is basically the prime resource for Football Manager graphics, it's just that most of the people who come here merely hit and run, at the very most they might make an angry post about how some graphics pack they have downloaded doesn't work.

I guess being buddies with Peter Lim has its benefits.

I would've put my money on Phil getting promoted from assistant though.

Roma can kiss the Scudetto farewell if they sack Garcia in the middle of the season. I still firmly believe that they'll end up winning the league this year if he stays, I get that the relationship between him and the city are so poor that he can't stay but the squad is built around his 4-3-3 and all the disruption that would come from sacking him and brining in a new head coach would certainly end their title bid.
