Aye, one of those that is probably just about too good for Championship but no one in the Prem seems to be willing to give him a fair chance. Don't see him playing more than the cups for Boro this season.

Is it a testimonial or just a way to generate some income over the international break?

Did anyone sign Jordan Rhodes in the end? Always thought he would end up at Newcastle one day, don't know why.

Fair play to Lee Charnley and Rafa Benitez, they've managed to rake in the cash, Slash the wage bill, sell of the bigger name players and smile while doing so.

It's absolutely phenomenal - Newcastle fans have claimed for years that we must get rid of the likes of Gosling, Williamson, Routledge and Simpson, and that is was an insult to witness them play football. - now they're actively celebrating the idea of signing average players.

Newcastle were considered immoral for not paying through the nose for players who didn't want to be here. Now Rafa understands the fans. And the fans want a squad that won't survive in the Premiership.

You already had that. Hence why you're here.

Sunderland sign Didier Ndong Ndbungalow.

Can't say I have ever heard of him, £13.6 mill though! Not sure another midfielder was what they needed.

Surprised no Premier League clubs have taken a punt on Curtis Davies, a bit of a liability mentally but still think he has been solid for the past few seasons. Currently helping Hull to a clean sheet against Man United and the mighty Zlatan.

Thought the same thing.

I'd even be very surprised if he went somewhere like Everton, surely he'd be aiming higher having been a title challenger + CL regular for the last few years.

Domestically, where else is there? Chelsea aren't in Europe this season and are probably happy with Courtois. United have De Gea who is better and I don't see City selling to United! Arsenal? Wenger probably has a nosebleed from what he has already spent this window (assuming Mustafi and Perez go through). Spurs have a competent goalkeeping duo in Vorm and Lloris. Is Leicester worth the risk? Champs League football but far from a guarantee they'll get it again. Don't see what other options there are domestically. I suppose abroad is always an option...

Yeah, one thing our fans seem to be doing well is getting across our plight to opposition teams' fans before a fixture. Fortunately, most seem to sumpathise. I expect a draw, going 2-2.

What a game already at Hartlepool, a goal each and Hartlepool have a man sent off with only 4 mins gone!

Still too many scabs

Did a double-take at first as I thought you were managing the mighty blue Brazil of Cowdenbeath (maybe in the future, eh?)

Can't believe people are talking about Hart moving to Sunderland just because Mannone is injured. Surely not even the wildest Sunderland fans can see any likelihood in that?

Liverpool seems to be the best and most likely option for him in my opinion, and it appears Garth Crooks', but don't see Klopp doing it. Koeman has said he doesn't want him but I would have liked to see him at Everton too.

Do we think he will go and if so, where?

Listening to the game on 5 live, Vorm seems to be having a cracker. Though when it's Coutinho having the shots against you they're normally either quite easily savable or entirely unstoppable. We all know which ones he does more...

I think you underestimate Southampton's group @DNZY, some tricky away fixtures there and I am not sure they have the squad depth to cope.

Some good games potentially in Man United's group, though I have never heard of Zorya.

Unlucky Northampton there with the home draw, I'm sure they'd've rather had the away draw for the £££.

I swear Brighton and Reading play each other a hell of a lot, or maybe it just feels like it. I know they're in the same league so that accounts for two games a season, but still...

Aye but he only played a few games after joining us, a reported fee of £5m as well ffs. Due to the recent flops, I'm hoping we're done signing players from Ligue 1 as apart from perhaps Yohan Cabaye, the rest of them have been expensive and disastrous.

Now you'll sign dross from La Liga instead, courtesy of Rafa.
