Charnley thought he would be the best man to mould the younger players Newcastle were aiming to sign into reaching their potential. While Charnley gets to keep playing Championship manager and signing players himself. Sounds great on paper as McClaren guides and coaches for example - a side of Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Shelvey, Townsend, Thauvin, Mitrovic to their potential, Newcastle rise up the table and the players are worth rises too - and a genuine dynasty can start to be built. All solid enough theory on paper.
I suspect Charnley-Carr always privately blamed Pardew when a signing didn't work out and haven't learnt any lessons.
I'm not as opposed to Garry Monk as I was to McClaren.

Let Gradel wriggle away from him for the first, stood watching for the second, and passed to Bournemouth for the third. And yes Bournemouth completely dominated us for 90 minutes. There is no two ways about it. You dominate from the centre of the midfield.

You're right. Shelvey hasn't been bombed out of his last two clubs. Shelvey wasn't criticised in public by his previous manager. Swansea directors haven't publicly called Newcastle mugs. He wasn't completely bossed by Dan Gosling yesterday. We weren't a point behind Swansea and in 18th when we signed him. We're not now 9 points behind Swansea and in 19th.

He's absolutely diabolical. Makes Sissoko look like a fucking workhorse. A true master of doing something extremely visible for two minutes - before being going AWOL for half an hour. - But yeah he's inspired us to safety - while Swansea have been in freefall. Dan Gosling and Andy Surnan rang absolutely circles round the clown.

I think our only hope now is Ashley steps in and sacks McClaren himself. I think Charnley is just pretending this ins't happening.

I've never noticed an agenda about Craig Hope. - Although in 2014 summer window - he seemed to be breaking our stories - but during our open training session last summer he was one of the few journos not invited.
Maybe McClaren's been watching video tapes, of Joe Kinnear an actual competent manager at work and decided to have a go himself.

Gouffran and Colback were average, Mitrovic was at least trying, Sissoko, Shelvey and Wijnaldum were all absolute dross
It's not about being attacking. You can have as many forwards on as you like, if you attack badly you won't score or create chances. Our creative players being unable to pass the ball at all is the problem in the away games.
The defence was fine. If it wasn't for a keeper error, Newcastle would have literally forced Stoke into 0 meaningful chances or opportunities. Stoke were just as bad as Newcastle mind.

Good to see McClaren eventually try something different. After 26 games of abject failure. But why always Perez who is dropped. He's been woeful, but so has Shelvey, Sissoko and Wijnaldum.

Absolutely laughing at their mid table mediocrity and probable Wembley appearance. Losers.
Fans of the irony may want to point out that arguably Palace's two biggest failings this year, was their striker problems. and Wayne Hennessey being a bit shit, and Pardew spent about £11m on Wickham and Alex McCarthy

That said, which clubs do you think are overachieving this year? I think quite possibly only Leicester. I think Spurs are at there level and aren't significantly better than their previous better sides, and Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd are all at they're most inept in recent memory.

There is nothing wrong with being negative imo, But you shouldn't be comprehensively outplayed and outclassed by Tony Pulis' West Bromwich Albion side even if you have 11 guys lined up on your own 6 yard box for 90 minutes.
