Meulensteen: "United's approach was straightforward. Get it wide, get it in the box. It can be easy to defend against."

Ouch.

Meulensteen was very lucky today. Can't see the sense on putting Darren Bent on at half time. And Parker on alongside Kvist and Sidwell was total overkill.

Gerrard is shite, only made 34 passes today, as are Liverpool who only had 43% of possession.

Howard Webb is awful. He just doesn't come across as impartial at all. If a Chelsea player drops and asks for a free kick, they will get it. Booked Sammy, Sissoko and Yanga-Mbiwa for very little, but let Chelsea players away with their tackles.

Chelsea deserved their victory today though, won with ease. Newcastle weren't too bad either.

Surely it begs the question of what on earth was the reason for him being appointed in the fucking first place. He never really seemed to do anything and there are all sorts of stories about the fact he seemed to be a repeatedly catastrophic fuck-up.

Although saying that, some fans seem already to be eyeing the bigger fish in the boardroom as the next out.

As a fall guy. He's now fallen. Poor Alan, he would have won on Saturday if Kinnear let him sign Darren Bent and Downing.

By resigning, he probably will get paid the same money, to officially not do anything, then he got to unofficially do nothing.

It is an unfair question tbf - they're trying to force a soundbite out of him.

If he answers yes, Newcastle can make signings. - Media have a go - why didn't the club make signings?
If he answers no.

None of the media ever praise Moyes for his refreshing openness and candidness.

Ki is brilliant.

We're appalling without Cabaye. No creativity at all.

Midtable obscurity and no cup runs seems to be the order of the day for the near future until Ashley leaves.

Mid table obscurity and no cups is an above average season for Newcastle.

That stat is bollocks. Accourfing to Opta Newcastle made 27 long passes, 9 of which were successful.

The fans create the negative atmosphere, which gives teams easy points. It completely drains the players of confidence, while the crowds impatience channels through to the players. If a player misses a chance, they won't want to shoot again. Crowd insist Newcastle need to play everything as direct as possible. Keeping possession and trying to control the game shows a lack of passion. And the crowd got on the players backs at 0-0 after about 10 minutes.

The sense of entitlement from Newcastle fans is beyond belief. A lot of them genuinely seem to believe Newcastle are entitled to be a lot better off than they are. A god given right to be challenging for the title every season.

Started properly agitating at about 10 minutes because Santon had a shite shot. Sunderland fans got right behind their team. Applauding effort and good ideas and encouraging the team. Newcastle fans were right on the backs. And complaining whenever anything is less than perfect. Absolute prats who are holding the side back.

Pardew blaming the fans. Because of course, the fans pick the team, coach them, tell them where to play and spend mot of their working relationship with them.

Dick.

Link?

Fans were fucking awful today. Feels like the vast majority are absolute pricks of the highest order.

Sunderland were shocking, they used tactics and discipline the cheating bastards. Everyone knows the way to win is with #Passion. Ki and Colback were shite with their controlling of the game. Cattermole has ten times the #Passion.

The tactics were shocking. Every Sunderland player had a job to do and they stuck to it. The fans were awful as well, getting on the backs of players and destroying confidence, and being totally against any form of possession or control in the play. They seem to be stuck in the ways of that the only way of playing football, has to be quick and direct, and have 'to get at them'.Incredibly easy to get Newcastle on the counter.

Also as for the Best fans in the worldTM. Only three pitch invasions, the first seemingly trying to fight Pardew, and the second seemed to try and get in Colback's face. As well as the hundreds of fans who leave early and spend the entire game making gestures at the away fans.

I really feel like the fact Tan is a dick has masked the fact that Mackay wasn't exactly doing a great job.

Did he deserve to go? I doubt it, but its not like they were safe in mid table.

I think Mackay has definitely got some friends in the media. Cardiff were overachieving under Mackay seems to be a popular theme.

Cardiff made 6 major signings in the summer and 3 of left the club in January. Arguably a 50% fail rate on transfers may be the real reason he was sacked. Odemwingie, Cornelius and Brayford on loan have left. Medel, Caulker and Theophile are still there.

I certainly don't want a panic buy, I want a player that we've identified as a replacement for Cabaye when he was promised he could leave back when he had talks with Kinnear in October.

Wasn't aimed at you, more at football in general. People don't seem to realise that a lot of the clubs in the relegation zone are in there because of their transfer policies. Teams like West Ham and Sunderland have spent loads on shite, struggle, can't offload anyone, sign more shite as short term measures,

Aston Villa are still struggling because of the MON era, when they spent massive amounts on 'ambition'. Fulham have been forced to spend £12m on a striker today, as the four very expensive strikers at the club have failed miserably, leaving them in the relegation zone.

According to Twitter he pissed at least 2 agents off due to being drunk and offering staggeringly low wages to players.

It's amazing he's allowed anywhere near the footballing side of things really. Then again if he wasn't I really dunno why he'd be here.

C'mon really, you're believing ITK's know?

Although I do like the idea Kinnear is the finance guy at the club.

I think most football fans actually want their clubs to panic buy. I think fans prefer transfers to football now. And when their panic buys turn to shit, and they are in a relegation struggle, they get more transfers.

I like him, but he's not what Newcastle need imo, need someone to play higher up, a more natural AMC who can move the ball quicker.

Not sure if Noble is good enough for Newcastle. Although universally rated by West Ham fans is a god sign. I think they hate every player apart from Noble/Adrian/Reid and Carroll.

Regarding Djuridic, yeah I know that much, can't even be arsed to go on his Wiki page to find out how he plays, unless he signs. Never seen him play, or know how good he is.

Apparently we're targeting Mark Noble.

Fuck's sake.

Almost certainly bollocks. Very unlikely West Ham would be willing to sell their key player whilst in relegation battle.

Interesting twitter reaction, universal polar reaction, Newcastle fans are angry about the prospect of signing Mark Noble, West Ham fans very angry about selling Noble. Newcastle fans would much prefer Holtby (done very little at Spurs) or Djuridic (who?).

Nocerina being punished in the strongest possible penalty - being sent to West Ham

Hibee, I'm guessing you're not expecting much from Nocerino/Borriello?

And you're just going to have to accept every scandal will be linked to Calciopoli and every defensive Italian side will deemed Catenaccio.

Absolutely silly to be saying these things, when overall it's not his decision. Personally I don't really care, I'm aware there's always a reasonable chance that a player will be sold. At least Pardew learned his lesson, not to talk in absolutes anymore.

Do you know where that quote came from? I can't seem to find where it was originally published.

I still don't think JFK has anything to do with transfers anyway.

Its football fandom. You tend to have moments of spouting unreasonably histrionic and wildly inaccurate bullshit at times. Though the 11 hour figure is on Twitter, and is probably down to what it felt like being at least. Chances are its been in the works for a little while, most likely when he was spotted flying to Paris on FA Cup 3rd Round weekend.

Newcastle turned down an approach in the summer for Cabaye. And it's probable there has been interest in other transfer windows for Cabaye and several other players. HBA, Saton, Krul, Coloccini, Debuchy, Cisse, Tiote etc. have all been linked with moves away.

The inconsistency of our business annoys me. In the summer we said we wouldn't sign anyone unless we sold Cabaye for 10m, which we'd use to get a striker and a replacement for Cabaye. Now that it's 20-25m we're still no closer to a replacement for Cabaye (who, let's face it knew was going to leave so we should have had someone sorted) - and we're getting a midtable German clubs reject striker on loan.

If he just came out and said my aim is to keep Newcastle in midtable so I can extract as much money from them as possible without large investment until I sell the club it would make me happier than listening to Pardew and Kinnear's bullshit every transfer window.

The "we can't bid for a replacement until Cabaye is sold" nonsense is infuriating too, it's not that we can't - it's that we don't want to.

  • Newcastle were never going to sell Cabaye for £10m in the summer, that's why they rejected it.
  • Newcastle have apparently identified Grenier and are currently trying to buy him. And have signed Anita and Sissoko in the time Cabaye has been at the club. Funny how the twitter megaminds forget about this when complaining about how replacements should be bought before selling (Also see Cisse/Ba)
  • Remember 6 months ago? When the ambition was 'just' to stay up every year? Maybe in a couple of years the ambition will be 'just' to be in the CL
  • [*] Has anyone actually even said that quote?
