Tbf 'Banning' doesn't seem to be accurate terminology. It's more a revoking of privileges. I don't think certain journos/papers being banned from the press room/asking questions has any real affect anyway. Just symbolic. And tbf to Newcastle they banned a journalist for apparently making up a lie, rather than for criticising tactics etc.

It's just a bit embarrassing how biased a lot of the journos are. (Bird, Caulkin and Douglas). Right up Sunderland's arse, and trying to undermine Newcastle at every opportunity. Seriously in Douglas' end of year review, he stated that Sunderland (20th at the time) were having a better season than Newcastle, he claimed Newcastle's season could be summed up in one word 'underachievement' before saying how marvelous Poyet is and blaming Di Canio for everything.

I can't stand them, I feel like they view themselves as rebels, but are really pandering to the lowest common denominator. Plus this absolute gem from Simon Bird (facking cunt);

Simon Bird @simonbirdmirror
Follow

@brianjnled a simple "thank you" to "the nationals" who bail Journal out with quotes every week would suffice Brian. Biting the hand etc.

European football goes through cycles. Teams go old and into decline, new leaner, hungrier, more innovative teams step up. This Bayern team are absolutely phenomenal, probably the best side ever.

English football definitely hasn't regressed. The rest of the PL has improved over the past few years. And certainly hasn't regressed in comparison to Europe, guys like Medel, Fer, van Wolfswinkel, Osvaldo, Giaccerini, Nocerino, Berbatov, Taarabt, Vlaar all willing to sign for bottom teams.

Yeah, Hart was poor imo.

No one seems to mentioning that Kompany was 5 yards behind the rest of the defence and playing Messi onside for the first goal.

This ban does not extend to the paper's sister publications, including the Daily Star, who made contact with the Club to check the validity of the story and accordingly did not publish it.

Since Arsenal last won a trophy - The Newcastle owner won a ECW World Title.

EDIT - Since Arsenal last won a trophy, The Newcastle owner reformed ECW, won the ECW World Title and disbanded the ECW.

Hope Vince jumps the rails at the Villa match - "you know who I am, but you don't know why I'm here"

Or Pardew starts claiming a 'higher power' is influencing team selection.

I wouldn't be the biggest supporter of Pulis coming in and as Poe mentioned I don't think he'd get the support of the general crowd if he didn't start well.

Laudrup I'd love, AVB I'd love too as I agree that less pressure to fight at the top would let them develop a bit more and maybe help us be one of those teams in 'the best of the rest' rather than mid table strugglers.

Redknapp would be my worst nightmare if I'm honest, despise him and the way he goes on and the way he just signs and signs and signs players means that he definitely wouldn't fit in with the current regime. He's turned us down already, remember.

For me I think we need to go foreign, we've got so many foreign players that we may need a manager with a greater understanding than just hard work. Someone to get the best out of the likes of HBA (if he stays, if the papers are to be believed) along with the likes of Anita and erm...Shola?

I vote Bielsa. Bielsa. Bielsa. Bielsa.

I would be far more worried about Laudrup/AVB not getting support that Pulis.

Yeah. Although Hannah hasn't been annoying at all this season tbf. In truth half way through, it feels like she's barely been in it. Adam's sister has dominated all of her scenes.

Zhosh is annoying but barely in it. And Jessa's episodes were annoying but she's barely been it in since.

Charlie is the most annoying character though. Why is Marnie so incredibly sad about him leaving? In season 1 Charlie was the nice guy, who Marnie didn't seem to like. Feels like an awful plot device.

Hard to say really. If it's true that he got a massive payout from Swansea, I think that would stop him managing in the PL for the next 18 months. My gut feeling is that he'll get a big foreign job in the summer.

Although I think the point is moo anyway, and Pardew will still be here.

I doubt AVB or Laudrup will manage in England again for the foreseeable future. I wouldn't really want Redkapp either, a bit corrupt and I get the impression that he can't really be arsed any more. Not to sure if AVB/Laudrup would fancy Newcastle as well.

I think Pulis deserves his shot, at a bigger club. Providing he has learnt from his mistakes at Stoke. I'm just impressed with what he has done at Palace, and would like to see what he can do with better players.

You're other wingers are average though. Surely the solution is trying to get van Persie, Mata and Rooney as a a trio. And besides loads of wingers these days barely put any crosses over. It's hardly the only responsibility of wingers these days.

Didn't Man Utd have a lot of success in like 08/09 by moving Rooney/Tevez out to the wings.

Who would they even hire to replace Pardew anyway?

Absolutely no idea. Ashley's previous appointments are;

Keegan - Left field surprise
Kinnear - His mate as an interim. Made more permanent as he was doing alright.
Shearer - Left field surprise
Hughton - Coach. Was doing alright so made permanent.
Pardew - His mate.

Hard to predict what would be next tbf. Personally Pulis would be my pick...

I hear Kinnear's available...

Kinnear tbf to him wasn't that bad. Slightly worse than Pardew maybe, but not by that much.

Oh gawd.

While a full article appears to be lacking online for the moment, scans of the back page of the Sunday Express tomorrow are on Twitter and have the Pardew story as their back page splash so it will probably appear online at some stage. Though its likely the Mirror article covers the same basic points.

Ashley selling has been rumoured for ages in any case. Who knows why he hasn't done so already - the only benefit he's really getting from this continued relationship is a reduction in the SportsDirect advertising budget.

Basically, I think no one is going to buy Newcastle at the current price. I think Ashley wont sell for a loss. And the club still has £100m+ debts.

Besides literally every thing Ashley does now, is viewed by some fans as an indicator he's going to sell.

Can't find the Express article, but Mirror reporting that Pardew is 'on the brink'. - Coming from Alan Oliver and his 'inside sources'. I find it incredibly unlikely Alan Oliver has any inside knowledge of Newcastle considering he has been banned from the club for years, and Newcastle seem to have replaced most of their staff since then. The insider has also released two quotes. The first makes him look like he is not a player, the second that he is a player.

Still can't see Ashley sacking Pardew anyway.

Why are you so against playing Mata on the wing?

And Ninja's right about the obsession with tactics being arbitrary. Often the tactical lineups on MOTD seem to be decided by how progressive a manager is perceived to be. The 'Classic English 4-4-2' normally has a big man, a little man and two wingers. Could easily be describing the current 4-2-3-1.

In fairness to Clark. His Birmingham sides seem to always be awful, inexperienced and relying on loan players. Keeping them in the division looks like the best anyone can do in those circumstances.

I'm not an expert on the Championship but I can't imagine there being too many players at Birmingham, who would get in the Huddersfield squad.

Cabaye wont solve everything. Newcastle were far worse than this last season, when Cabaye was here. He's suddenly the new messiah. A total straw man argument. In the summer window, people were complaining about the failure to replace Danny Simpson and Steve Harper.

The Europa League isn't profitable. It's a fact. It apparently created £6m balanced out immediately by a probably drop in League place, ignoring any purchases required for the increased number of games. Pardew said in December, he wants to qualify.

The whole obsession with a cup run is again a total and complete lie. Newcastle had a good cup run last year. It was immediately forgotten. Souness was still in two competitions in mid-April, and is one of the least popular managers ever. Dalglish and Gullit were sacked 2 and 7 games after a cup final. Pardew went for the cups this year anyway. The fans didn't, 30'000 against Cardiff in the FA Cup. If the fans do really view cups in the stead they claim, then they would sell out all home FA Cup games. Likewise the Europa League last year got shite attendances. (Yet the fans are angered Newcastle aren't in it.)

Ambition? What is your opinion of ambition? Where should Newcastle be? No team has ever broken through to reach the top in the modern age. Spurs and Everton have been moving that way for a decade or so and haven't been successful, why do people believe Newcastle can do it? And why do they believe they would be doing it if not being held back?

Now, I'm only judging by highlights as I was at a concert while the game was on, but tactics, passion, commitment and ambition seemed like alien concepts, and barring a period at 2-0 where Lloris had to make three/four stops, the team looked consistently awful.

These last three months are just pointless. We're not going down, and the owners don't want European football, so just why should the fans care? Its not as if the players seem to give a fuck.

Yeah I wish Newcastle were in a relegation battle like 50% of the division... Ashley has never said he doesn't want European football. The players definitely give a fuck and they definitely gave a fuck last season.

Anyway the superfans stormed the club shop last night and intimidated some kids and staff.

Spurs were very lucky today. Some of their tactics were reckless. Can sort of see why Spurs (apparently) want to replace him with van Gaal or de Boer for the long term. Newcastle weren't very good, but they weren't that bad either.

But my God, I genuinely think Newcastle fans are too fucking stupid for success. It's absolutely fucking pointless replacing Pardew. Tactics are genuinely despised, with a preference for passion, commitment and ambition.

You know, when I complain about Newcastle fans and fangroups being absolute morons, and having no logical grievances, so basically just make them up depending on the situation.

That’s the class and quality of Newcastle United. When the Newcastle United Foundation is doing good work across the North East, there is no player, coach or manager to speak to the local press about the impact of this work and to publicise it more widely. When Newcastle United players visit sick children at Christmas in local hospitals there is no coverage of it from the local press and no photographs in the local newspapers. Welcome to Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United, 2014.

CLASSLESS. HOW DARE THEY DO SOMETHING DECENT AND NOT TURN IT INTO A PR OPPORTUNITY?

And the SuperFans definitely, definitely, definitely wouldn't complain if it was the other way round, about using sick kids as marketing tools, dressed in WONGA toon shirts.
