The Mirror sounded confident. And David Sullivan's son claimed he turned down West Ham in favour of Newcastle. But he now says that Heitinga turning down West Ham has nothing to do with Newcastle or any other club. A strange one, but from the confidence I thought it sounded like he was signing was imminent.
Also apparently making enquiries about Remy Cabella,

There was another highlight after the yellow, where about four Spurs players closed him down from all angles and he managed to get a pass off and stay on his feet, despite contact.
Seems to be an increase in players trying to force contact in the box to get the opposing player sent off instead of trying to score this year - like Oscar and (imo) Vydra yesterday. Ki against Everton. And imo Remy has done it a couple of times this year.

As in he claims that Kinnear pronouncing players names wrong is a bigger low point than two of our best players apparently trying to walk out the club, losing to Sunderland and finishing 16th. And he mentions the interview twice in a short article. Definitely not bitter.
Although I just read Mark Douglas's in the Journal, even worse. Claims that Newcastle have underachieved this season..... and seems to be implying worse than 12months ago.
Also put Kinnear in his villain of the year, for trying to 'settle personal scores' before proceeding to settle scores by indiscriminately criticising Kinnear.

Anyway depressing that according to that league table on here, that Fulham have more points over the past 10 years than Newcastle.

League Position: 8th
Star Man: All of them. The core squad of 15 or so have all been very, very good,
Most Improved: The obvious one is Mike Williamson. But I think Williamson is the same player as he always was - just the team around him has improved dramatically - such as the defensive shape, organisation, focus and discipline.
Best Youngster: Santon if he counts. If not I was really imressed with Bigirimana last year - but he has disappeared from the team.
Most Disappointing: Obertan I suppose. Which is a shame as I think he'll be a very good player, when it all clicks.
Best Game: 0-1 at Old Trafford. Mostly because it took 40 years.
Best Goal: Moussa Sissoko against WBA.
Worst Game: Losing to Sunderland - although it it unlikely Newcastle would have found such a high level of form if they won or got a scrappy draw.
How's the manager doing? Good. After the defeat to Sunderland I lost patience and wanted him sacked (I didn't want him sacked last year) but credit to him he eventually found a winning formula. FourFourFuckingTwo. Although I am worried that a lot of his tactical switches just don't work.
What player do you want in January? A bit of a cliché, but I think keeping hold of our players is probably far more important. A backup young RB and a backup target man striker might be nice. But I doubt they'd get many minutes. If Newcastle were being super proctive - sign next seasons first choice striker now. Like make sure on July 1st we know who is going to be the main striker at the club. Remy or whoever. My super secret hopes and dreams are is that Mourinho refuses he was wrong and sells Lukaku, but refuses to sell him to a title/Champions League rival, leading Newcastle to be the club who can afford to pay the £25m or whatever to sign him.
Where will you finish? 8th?. Going to be very hard to overhaul any of the teams above. A small possibility Man Utd will go into a tailspin or Liverpool will do what they did under Dalglish. And maybe a decent chance Sherwood will be shite at Spurs. Or Everton will lose a bit of steam and Newcastle will catch them.
Overall Grade: A. Almost hard to believe Kinnear isn't leading us into a massive relegation 6 pointer on Wednesday. Almost.

If by 'soft' you mean dive then yes. Cazorla and Giroud were shocking for it yesterday. They were both receiving treatment for ages yesterday and Arsenal didn't even have subs warming up.
The Assaidi goal. Debuchy is marking Crouch - so Assaidi has too much time and space to get a shot away. A great strike but looks preventable imo.
I think Remy wasn't challenging because he can't beat Mertesacker in the air so is much better off trying to peel away to create some space for the second ball.

Think Debuchy stands far too centrally though. Any LW's who play against him get far too much room. Reckon Brady/Brunt/Assaidi all scored goals from Debuchy being far too narrow.
Although it helped today as Arsenal never really went wide down the left flank.

Almost definitely bullshit. I think Mackay must own a PR company.
People are acting like this is totally mental. It's not that different from the Holloway, McDermott, Warnock, Adkins, Hughton and Di Matteo sackings in the past few seasons. All aside from RDM (who struck lucky) all had to move down a division and start again. Whereas Mackay by the sounds of it will move sideways at the very least.
And people just pretend Tan wan't there for the promotion. It wasn't his money that Mackay spent to get promotion.

Do you have any preference?
Easier said than done. No one springs to mind. Slade, Ferguson, Parkinson or Pressley maybe? Or the Wallsall manager Dean Smith seems to be doing pretty good. But I don't know anything about him. I doubt Ferguson or Slade would be interested either.
At least I think Coyle or McLeish would probably steady the ship. Their track records aren't that bad.

I've seen it. Enjoyably dreadful pish.
I like how several episodes are dedicated to a love triangle between very minor characters. And whether those two who pretended to be gay, are actually gay. plot twist.

True. But 2 points more and a League Cup. That being difference between the sack and getting a big promotion, seems a bit daft. Especially considering, Laudrup seems to have more control over transfers, and has spent a lot more in the summer. WBA also had a really bad summer imo.
And yeah that stat WBA released justifying his sacking seems to be totally misleading. It's obvious WBA will slump towards the end of the season. Them (and Swansea) were miles off Liverpool and Everton above them, and comfortably above the mid-table/relegation battle. It's extremely likely their form will trail off, couple with teams who do need the points will often be desperate for a point against WBA.

Can't see Spurs going for an interim, I don't think they're ready to give up the season. Only 5 points of fourth.
Why do people keep saying AVB set Spurs' record points tally. It is a complete meaningless statistic. It's high because only Man Utd had a really good season, and their were two really bad sides at the bottom. And I would say a poorer than average mid-table.
Amazing if Laudrup gets a big job in the same week Clarke gets sacked. Shows how daft football can be. Laudrup has taken 3 more points than Clarke in the past season and a half. Talk of Pochettino is bizzare, he has been at Southampton less than a year and hasn't even done anything yet.
Anyway if Spurs want a manager who can work besides a director of football, has European experience, can mould a squad of technichal foreigners into a cohesive team and mount a challenge for the top of the Premier League. There is only really one manager that Spurs can turn to;
