There's nothing evident in season 3 thats not in season 2 though.

I though that meant there was no progression?

In isolation I thought the majority of the stories were quite boring in S3 and S2. The series is a lot better than the sum of its parts.

Normally they try and use some form of doublespeak to get their point across. 'family values' or 'pro-life' or whatever.

That advert is incredibly direct.

I can't believe we missed out on a 28 year old who is ranked world number 189.

I missed the tennis today, how many of them casual shots did Brown miss?

Christ, can you imagine Brazil line up for the opening game of their World Cup in the Maracana, with the intention to put the ghosts of 1950 to rest with a midfield with two Spurs players in it....

About 3 years ago, wasn't Parker near universally loved on here, and KM was the only one who actually said he wasn't very good?

I would have thought if Newcastle were that determined to sign Douglas we would have done it in January. Either by signing him permanently, like we did with Gouffran and Sissoko, or by signing him on an agreement for next season.

Llambias has apparently resigned over this. But Kinnear said Llambias had already resigned in his Talksport interview on Sunday. Llambias has also apparently been at his holiday home this week. There seems to no quotes. 'Just SSN understands'.

Because why would Ashley instruct the old management to make signings, if he's planning to make changes?

Yep, I'm sure he blocked the move last summer as well. Why would Newcastle be in the process of signing him anyway, if Newcastle were planning a change in management?

It wouldn't be constructive dismissal. Pardew's role is the same as it was. Basically Llambias' job has been split in two, with Kinnear taking over the football side of things. and Llambias focusing on the other aspects. It makes no sense to get rid off a member of staff, by appointing another member of staff.

Remember three days ago, when everyone wanted Pardew sacked. Now no one cares. Kinnear has completely lifted the pressure of the team. Just like he did last time.

Good to see the media have taken the high ground on this

He said he made a profit on Robbie Earle as well. That's the Robbie Earle who retired while at Wimbledon, the year after Kinnear left. He said he got John Hartson on a free when he was at Wimbledon with no money. John Hartson went to Wimbledon for a club record £7.5m. He said he signed Tom Krul when he was 15. Tim Krul signed when he was 18 and long before Kinnear had been involved with the club. Also he said he had never been relegated

Ha those are legitimate points. - Although I think some have been exaggerated.

But the media seem to have deemed the real story is an old man struggles to pronounce names properly. Ironic considering half of them are probably mispronounced in England anyway. And the media can't even pronounce the name of the club properly.

It hasn't been reported about him reducing his role, has it? iirc in January Ashley got personally got involved on the signings to get the deals done. So I'm guessing Llambias wasn't very good at it. Last year a lot of deals seemed to drag on and go nowhere.

I hope his duties include doing the team announcements.

Still can't work out why Kinnear signed Tim Krul for Newcastle, before Kinnear had any association with Newcastle. And I'm very impressed he can remember James Perch from his previous spell at the club, he didn't sign for 18 months after Kinnear left.

I hope I can give him the benefit of the doubt, and he is talking about Perch at Forest and maybe he recommended the club focus on Krul or something.

Nothing that wrong with interview imo. Bigged himself up, but you'd expect that. Some excellent pronunciations as well

Finally got around to watching The Fall on the iPlayer, anyone else watched this season? Really enjoying it.

Yeah, just watched it. Was really good. Fucking could not stand Gillian Anderson. She came across as smug and shite at her job.

Could have done without a lt of the B plot, I don't really get why all the police seemed to have to be possibly corrupt. I thought it distracted rather than added to the plot.

I've only heard of four of the Nigeria squad. Mikel and Ambrose. Plus Enyeama from FM and Ideye as Newcastle have been linked with him recently.

Bit strange as only a few years ago, half of their team seemed to play in the PL.

Shepherd left massive debts and an overpaid squad in decline.

Ashley was a disaster for the first couple of years, but has got his act together since then. Sacking Hughton is the only real clanger since then. I'd love Hughton back at some point.

But that is nowhere near as bad as sacking Robson and getting in Souness. And Ashley isn't even in the same league as Shepherd for PR disasters.

Last May, all the fans were saying that the priority was keeping HBA, Cisse, Tiote, Cabaye etc. Ashley kept them and only allowed a couple of fringe players to leave and signed a Dutch international. I really don't think not strengthening the team was a mistake.

As owners go, Ashley's pretty good. Newcastle are living within their means and have improved the squad in the last couple of years. Ashley also doesn't charge interest on the loans to the club. Which are about £130m or something, so that's a saving of, I think around £5m a year.

And I don't like Llambias, but I have no idea if he's good at his job or not. And he's quite cheap. I'm not quite sure why Kinnear has been appointed (mate of Ashleys I'm guessing), but on the bright side, if he is working with Llambias, it means there will be a footballing person working with Llambias. And if things go badly at least he will take the pressure off the team a bit.

Current regime is miles better than Sheppard imo.

I'm not having a go. I enjoy their comments.

JFK will have our fitness levels soaring again NOT!!!
I’m almost close to tears as my beloved club is being destroyed by Ashley and co.

This makes me sick to the stomach. Any sympathy i ever had for Ashley has been shredded. How is this even allowed to happen.
2 dark age dinosaurs in our manager and D.O.F with a total creep as chairman and the tackiest sponsor going? It’s jobs for the boys and it absolutely stinks.
Any hope Torq and Proud had given me about a technical adviser from Belgium and PEA and De Jong coming have all gone up in smoke. Never ever been this depressed. It’s a new all time low.

Only thing is boycott and hit them in the pocket. only thing that will ever change what these vile individuals are doing to my club

Thats it… Ashley has lost all faith that remained… He must go as well now

sack percy and bring in joe kin ear
sell the whole f–kin squad
bring in schwarzer-gallas-dunne-upson-squillaci-bentley-arshavin-santa cruz-cole-petric(nile ranger) all on a freebie and that’s what the board mean by restructuring.
surely you guys didn’t expect anything else did ya

If we continue being pi55ed on from a great height then follow they loyal Manure brigade and Wimbledon model and start afresh from the bottom with a 2nd club in the city run by fans?

JFK is a big fat sweaty peado with dirty greasy hair like a nonce – new all time low, just when you feel he cant humiliate us any more than the last episode Fat Ash yet again takes us to the new depths and squeezes the last remains of any dignity there is left from being a fan of this club. You wont win though we own this club, it is our life until the day we die.
HWTL

All in the first fifty or so posts. There's about 1000.

It's a behind the scene change. I doubt Kinnear will be doing much anyway. I would take anything he says with a massive pinch of salt.

I don't really know much about publishers putting pressure on reviewers, or how common it is, but the above statement also applies to Gamespot, and they sacked a reviewer for a bad review (Kane and Lynch). Eidos were sponsoring Gamespot heavily at the time. It seems possible, that metacritic could give a higher weighting to friendly reviewers.

I have no idea if any of this happens. But when they millions of dollars are at stake, I suppose it wouldn't be unthinkable.

Also, Metacritic and Gamespot are both owned by CNET. Tin foil hat time.
