Kean resigned, apparently because he was being told what players to pick.

Aye, too many football chants go in the tune of "Score when he wants, he scores when he wants" - it's fucking annoying.

Ilkay Gundogan was absolutely excellent tonight. Best player on the pitch by a mile. Gotze, Reus, Grosskreuts and Lewandowski seemed to be trying to outdo each other at finishing badly.

Dortmund should go and win, might not be able to keep a clean sheet, but I'd fancy them to win by a couple of clear goals.

Has anyone (aside from Rhodes?) came out of the season with any credit?

Where do you reckon Blackburn would have finished with the same squad and a competent manager (Appleton?) in charge all season?

Is Palacio a key player for Inter? Every time I've seen them Palacio seems to be their best player, but he seems to be on the bench a lot? Guarin as well.

Very, very similar goal to the one he scored against Man Utd last year.

I knew he was there but didn't know it was that high a role - I thought it was honorary board member or some bollocks like that.

Still going down though.

VC is normally just a title I think. Didn't his dad flee from the Nazis?

A bit surprised at the backlash, it's not like he has been 'outed' or anything, it's old information.

If it is an April Fools Day, then they're a bit overzealous.

I'm never going to get tired of that John Terry .gif.

Unfortunately for Sunderland, he's shown exactly the form he showed for City. Lazy, inconsistent and often invisible.

It's why Sunderland have brought in a new Right Winger.

Yeah, you could tell you were down to bare bones. I just think Krul and Tiote left the biggest gaps. There's no way Krul would have conceded Yaya's goal, for instance, and Tiote would have provided an actual barrier in central midfield.

I didn't even notice Jonas was playing until the 41st minute.

I just thought the scoreline flattered us a bit.

Robbie Elliot still played pretty good tbf and the damage was done by the time he let Yaya's in. If he's going to make a mistake, I'd rather it be 3-0 down than make one next week against Fulham, although Krul may be back by then.

Yeah I though the scoreline flattered you a bit, it felt more like a convincing 3-0 defeat, rather than a proper rout.

Bit surprised by the MON sacking, didn't seem to be too much pressure. That said I doubt Ellis Short takes prisoners. And will most likely be annoyed at MON spending £30m + wages on 3 players and Sunderland being even worse than last year.

And HBA, Coloccini, Debuchy, Santon and Jonas playing in midfield. And we could have done with Haidera and Ryan Taylor.

I know Man City weren't that good, but they looked as if they had another gear, like in the 5 minute spell before HT.

PS: As of Thursday - eleven days after the incident - Alan Pardew confirmed that nothing in the form of an apology had been forthcoming from either Wigan, their manager or their player.

Martinez has done the exact same as Dalglish did, backed the player 100%, not apologised and claimed to be the victim. Well apart from the t-shirts.

Sissoko has never played CM either

He's normally just behind Cisse, and is closer to being a striker than a midfielder. Although tbf he seems to have not selected any midfielders, in a pioneering 4-0-6 formation.

Gerrard maybe? Has he been good this year?
Yaya Toure? I know he's had a quiet year but I'm sure he's still done more than most players. Destroyed Newcastle.
Dembele?

Martinez being an odious cretin again;

"I don't think it was a challenge of any real intent. The incident which happened was unfortunate, but there has been too much talk about it and I think it's a bit unfortunate that a young man has had to suffer that."

"I did have concerns straight away," he said. "All of a sudden you are at the centre of a nationwide debate. You find yourself in that position, but you need to understand he has grown into the football player he is now over the last for years.

"I think he's had enough experiences to know how to cope with it."

"Callum has a bit of an ankle problem," he said. "The next two days will be important and I'm hopeful he will be fine."

The contrast with Nice, who've dealt with a similar situation much classier.

You have to make sure never to give England a compliment ever. (It's rule 1).

Also, if England ever appear quite high up the FIFA rankings, argue with mathematics and suggest that gut feeling should be used instead.

Why would the 'English media' be so bitter about a player? They wrote about him because he was a character, who gave them a lot of easy column inches?

MARIO BALOTELLI was last night hailed a “true champion” after this stunning strike for Italy against Brazil.
Balotelli crashed home a thunderous leveller for the Italians, who came back from 2-0 draw to salvage a draw in Geneva.
And Italy boss Cesare Prandelli said: “I know how he really wants to be one of the best in the world but he has to remember how he can get there, and that is through team work.
“That is what he did tonight, like a true champion.”

Balotelli, 22, has been in sensational form since quitting Manchester City for AC Milan in January.
The forward has found the net seven times in just six Serie A games for the San Siro giants.

You said it wasn't an accident. It can be dangerous and accidental at the same time, they aren't mutually exclusive.

ac·ci·dent
/ˈaksidənt/
Noun
An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.

A serious injury isn't unexpected, when a player enters into a challenge like that. It's not really an accident if McManaman was negligent.

Don't want another ipod because my last two have broke on me and I don't really want to play another £180 for something that doesn't last long enough.

Looking at a SanDisk 8gb player on Amazon. for £35.

I didn't say it was intentionally dangerous. Just dangerous. He's putting a risk on a fellow professional's career, by going in dangerously.

McManaman may be 21 and made a mistake due to over-enthusiasm. But Haidera is 20 and yet to make his full Premier League debut and didn't go into the tackle dangerously and will now face a long time out. Whelan and Martinez have acted disgracefully in basically denying that he did anything wrong.

No it wasn't, it was a dangerous challenge. He owes it to Haidera not to go into a challenge like that because there is a good chance he can break his leg.
