I reckon Jonas has been alright. In a 4-3-3 I reckon he's fb as the runner. The Sissoko rumours have been denied, but that doesn't mean much I suppose.

Managed to complete the countries of the world quiz after about six attempts tonight. Kept slipping up on the likes of Palau, Sierra Leone, Burundi, El Salvador and Burma. Managed to do it, finally.

Welcome to the cool club. Although the Sporcle one is a lot harder to complete.

Ref got that spot on, definitive dive. He tried to cheat the ref, exaggerate contact to get Evans sent off. Ironically if Cleverley had done that Torres would have been sent off much earlier with an extra two game ban.

I think the offside is near-impossible for the linesman to actually see it properly, so much movement..

Also what happened to Robinson/Flanagan/Danny Wilson?

Yes, and some secularists will do more than Christians. The ability to decent things isn't defined by how you affiliate yourself religiously. Whilst I'm very aware that not all Muslims are West-hating terrorists, and that not all Christians really believe the Earth is only 6,000-years-old, I'd ask that you not band all secularists in the same pot of arrogant liberals who think they're better than everyone.

That's exactly what I meant by 'some Christians do more than secularists' - That being a good person isn't linked to religious affiliation.

And I'm only having a go at ivory tower secularists, who feel the need to spread their usually moronic propoganda as often as possible. - And I'm well aware they're a very small minority. Considering 99% of people I've ever met lead secular lives.

You've completely missed the point I've been trying to make. I liked how you implicitly accused me of bunching all Christians together before then doing that exact thing with non-believers.

One thing I can't fucking stand is how some - and there's extreme emphasis on the word some - people who are religious believe you have to be religious to have any sort of moral code. How can you sit there, straight-faced, and talk up Christians doing good by the disadvantaged whilst accusing secularists of doing nothing to help? If we're going down this route, I'd even argue the point that it's more noble for an atheist to do something to help others than it is for Christians, seeing as an atheist doesn't do any good whilst fearing the wrath of God and spending eternity in Hell if they don't. That doesn't apply to all Christians but there's definitely that element to it.

No I'm saying that some Christians will do more than some secularists. And the secularists I'm having a go at are the ones who are 'enlightened' and have a go at religion, and are often very ignorant, and seem to view themselves as some sort of rebels, fighting the all powerful evil churches of the world.

Basically what Ehmo said.

I get that, but I find it odd that some people truly believe that God helped them complete pretty menial tasks throughout their day, yet did nothing to intervene to stop millions of people dying of easily curable diseases (as an example). I find it difficult to comprehend how so many people believe this shit.

Do you know anyone believes God helps them find their car keys? I don't think anyone has ever done that.

Besides from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught that prayers should be privately, meaning your prayers should be your private communication with God, and not trivial.

Matthew 6:5-6: "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men....when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret...."

But yeah I'm sure many religious people will see the starving and believe it is their Christian duty to do something about it, and try and stop poverty and get involved with CAFOD etc, rather than sitting in their secular homes making images to attempt to discredit God and blame religion for all of the world problems, rather than doing anything about it.

Skyler gets the house because she knows about Walts drug dealing, so she could be a witness against him. And Skyler has hardly had it easy, Flynn blames her for the divorce and Walt is the hero, who Skyler forced to leave, despite it being Walth's fault.

Since the first episode Walt has wanted to cook meth for the thrill, not any noble reasons.

You should probably spoiler that.

I think Tiote was trying to pass the ball, and Colback was holding him back thus allowing Fletcher to get there first. Even so there was little to distinguish between Tiote's reckless, calculated challenge and Larsson's innocent studs up kick to Ameobi's chest.

Hazard got 3 assists yesterday ffs

9 for the season in the league alone.

Do you actually think Hazard got three assists yesterday? A badly cleared corner leading to great volley isn't an assist ffs.

That pass was excellent though.

I don't think the Thick of It is the kind of show to offer justice or redemption. Loving this series though. I prefer Mannion and Stuart to the established characters, and I really liked the Lib Dems in the last episode as well.

Yeah Chiles is at it now. Absolutely unbelievable. 'They're lacking confidence from being in a poor run of form' - No they're playing ulta-defensive because they are a bunch of semi-pros/amateurs, England could have turned out an all League 2 team and won comfortably.

I thought San Marino were actually pretty good at surrounding England and restricting England as much as possible, - without being dirty like some minnows can be.

Nah, I'm fairly sure Brendan Rodgers is in a much better position to talk about the dynamics of a football team than Alan Shearer. Just because he hasn't won a lot it doesn't mean his footballing ideas are worthless. Besides, despite comparatively little success he's achieved and learnt far more about coaching than Shearer ever will.

Why?

By Abbott | Permalink | On 11 October 2012 - 20:49 PM
Rodgers is perfectly entitled to defend Allen from Shearer's old fashioned, ill-informed opinions. And as far as I'm aware Rodgers hasn't been 'mouthing off' about his philosophy being better than others, he's just got conviction in what he wants from his team - and that's absolutely fine. And he clearly does know quite a bit about football, and the only reason people are criticising him for it is because most other managers don't like to talk about tactics and style of play as much as him. Most others prefer to talk about trivial things like referees and if players are upset.

"I saw someone recently criticising Joe Allen for not playing risk passes. Unbelievable. So-called pundits who don't know the dynamics of a team and how it functions, Joe's role is to keep the ball and that, in Britain, is a special talent.

See this is why a lot of people think Rodgers is horrendously arrogant, he's going on about how he understands dynamics when he still hasn't gotten Liverpool firing, he's taken 1 more point from his first seven games, than Alan 'doesn't understand how a team functions' Shearer did from his first seven games in charge of a miserable Newcastle team.
