It's fine. The problem really is just terminology. Being transwhatever is a very broad term and there aren't really any specific terms and if there were, noone would really care.
So it's like. If you take the word footballer. You could call someone who plays Sunday league a footballe or it could just be a term saved for professionals. But playing Sunday league isn't the same thing as playing for Man Utd and so you wouldn't call a Sunday league player a footballer, they'd be a person who plays football.
The same is true for being trans. Someone who was born as a male who takes x amount of tablets a day, goes to support sessions and shits herself everytime she has to talk to someone she doesn't know in case they go "HEY YOU'RE A DUDE AREN'T YOU?" could be called a tranny but then so could someone who likes going out at night wearing a bra because it gives him a hard on. The difference people don't differentiate between the tw so a lot of people assume it's some weird fetish and that's where the stigma comes from.

Socially, at whichever point she decides to live as a woman. I mean, there is no difference between a trans girl and a cis girl unless you're trying to have sex with them. I'm not going to lie and say some of them don't look incredibly ropey but people find out at different stages who they really are or however you want to frame it. If you're lucky, you would be on HRT before puberty really kicks in. I mean, the average age for sex change operations is suprisingly high, can't remember what it is off the top of my head. Either way, I'd be willing to bet money that you've met transgenders before without know anything about it. Some of them look awful, some of them look fine and some of them look genuinely beautiful. Doesn't matter though. If you're a transsexual once you're a transsexual for life. Not everyone is accepting and some people would never let you live it down.
But yeah, in the eyes of the law, I believe it's when you have your sex change operation but I've actually never asked. The biggest problem is there's basically one place in the country which can decide whether you can have a sex change and, by all accounts I've heard, they are cunts.

Either way, take comfort in the fact you can never be as boring as this guy.
Saying the word nigger is not offensive in and of itself. What's racist is the implications that the word has and the way in which people say it. Take it from someone who's nickname at school for a year was gayboy. Never gets old. Until someone starts saying shit about your boyfriend and you punch them in the face. Then it gets old pretty quickly.
