@Footygamer Another thing that I think would really make being able to make edits easier is, on Team Pages (APOEL as an example), below the search bar, but above the team listing. It would be nice to have a series of buttons that can be toggled on and off, to filter the team page. Buttons I would like to see are:

  • Hide Staff Members;
  • Hide Players Without Validation Links;
  • Hide Players Recently Arrived;
  • Hide Players In On Loan;
  • Hide Players Out On Loan;

I don't think at all that aesthetics is more important than truth, to be honest. I have no problem setting fake dates but IMHO realism is an important thing.

@Lebohang Mokoena Just to be clear, I wasn't putting incorrect information to be aesthetically pleasing. I thought something was wrong? In actuality, this is REALLY bad practice from the Croatian FA allowing something like this to slide; contract end dates should be enforced for the player's nation, to prevent issues where due to FIFA rulings, they wouldn't even be able to sign for their own nation. If I'm not mistaken. Say the FA allowed a player to end their contract after the Winter Transfer Window ends (say Feb 28th), they wouldn't be able to sign (in the sense of being able to play) for another Croatian club until the Summer Window opens.

Having non-standard contract expiry dates also could lead to a very niche issue... I've seen some new expiry dates on TM listed as say, May 31st, in nations where the Contract Expiry Date for the Nation is June 30th. That then leads to an issue where, say a player leaves Club A on May 31st, and signs on a Free Transfer for Club B on June 3rd. If that club is outside of the same nation, there'll be an issue where the player will not be properly training, because they'll be without a club until July 1st, because of FIFA-implemented transfer rules that don't allow you to sign players that have been released between the Winter and Summer Windows and because of the Int. Transfer Rules from FIFA. Whereas, if they were at Club A until June 30th, there'd be a seamless handover between the two clubs.

@Footygamer I think it would make sense to change the direction on the edit page to “Please add all REAL DATES (except in cases where the day and month of their contract expiry does not match that of the Playing Nation in the Contract Dates section). Do not try and modify dates based on the game start date, the system will do that itself.” –- I think standardizing everything based on how FM does new contracts for clubs, is more important and aesthetically pleasing than realism, and that then also removes the need for people to unnecessarily add comments justifying the edit.

Would love to get @Footygamer's opinion on this too. I'll happily start using stupid dates from Transfermarkt, its of no issue to me, but I always thought that reference section was seen as paramount when facing a non-standard date that goes against the norm?

@Lebohang Mokoena So you want me to respect Transfermarkt's date of June 15th, and not the "reference for contract start and end dates for each nation". Thought you guys would be trying to standardise contract changes with FM, and not trying to actively work against it. 🤣🤣

Thanks mate that is some good work, a BETA version of the Saudi PL and club updates is forthcoming so all feedback you have is valuable.

All clubs in the entire nation of Saudi Arabia should:

  1. In Finances - Have a Foreground Rich Benefactor.
  2. In Finances - Have Rich Benefactor Increases Starting Finances selected.
  3. In Ownership - Have Stop Outside Takeovers selected.

That should give them a Rich Benefactor on a permanent basis that will make them more active in the Transfer Market and more willing to sign players.

For the Nation of Saudi Arabia:

  1. In Details - Reputation should change from 5150 to 6200 (+20% R+).
  2. In Information - Years to Gain Nationality should be 10.
  3. In Information - Gain Nationality Type should be Accumulative.
  4. In Information - Game Importance should be Very Important.
  5. In Transfers and Contracts (Nation Transfer Preferences) - Should be cleared. List should be:
    Iran (Rating: Limited. Scouting Knowledge: None. Min Age: 14. Max Age: 45. Aff. Frequency: Never);
    Iraq (Rating: Limited. Scouting Knowledge: None. Min Age: 14. Max Age: 45. Aff. Frequency: Never);
    Kuwait (Rating: Limited. Scouting Knowledge: None. Min Age: 14. Max Age: 45. Aff. Frequency: Never);
    Qatar (Rating: Limited. Scouting Knowledge: None. Min Age: 14. Max Age: 45. Aff. Frequency: Never);
    Israel (Rating: Limited. Scouting Knowledge: None. Min Age: 14. Max Age: 45. Aff. Frequency: Never);
  6. In Transfers and Contracts (Continent Transfer Preferences) - List should be:
    Africa (Rating: 14; Min Age: 14; Max Age: 45; Aff. Frequency: Rarely);
    Asia (Rating: 18; Min Age: 14; Max Age: 45; Aff. Frequency: Often);
    Europe (Rating: 20; Min Age: 14; Max Age: 45; Aff. Frequency: Often);
    North America (Rating: 16; Min Age: 14; Max Age: 45; Aff. Frequency: Sometimes);
    Oceania (Rating: 12; Min Age: 14; Max Age: 45; Aff. Frequency: Rarely);
    South America (Rating: 20; Min Age: 14; Max Age: 45; Aff. Frequency: Often);
  7. In Transfers and Contracts (Region Transfer Preferences) - List should be cleared.
  8. In Transfers and Contracts (Transfer Values) - List should be replaced with the Transfer Values list of England.
  9. In Transfers and Contracts (Sponsorships) - Is currently blank. Should probably more reflect the money that exists. One option is:
    0-10: £113,046;
    11-20: £146,742;
    21-30: £323,064;

    111-120: £32,308,724;
    121-130: £43,632,540;
    131-140: £46,017,405;
    141-150: £68,052,908;
    151-160: £73,577,196;
    161-170: £97,301,052;
    171-180: £101,685,177;
    181-190: £133,475,331;
    191-120: £141,535,317;

This should make the Saudi Clubs very active, as they are currently.

https://www.transfermarkt.com/dmitriy-stomal/profil/spieler/731213 - The database says he's a Non-Player, a Fitness Coach (Reserve Team) for Arsenal Dzerzhinsk, but his transfermarkt says he's a Player-Coach for amateur Belarusian side, Edinstvo Dzerzhinsk, and has been since January 1st, 2021? This would be a Player / Non-Player role. This is backed up by https://uk.soccerway.com/players/dmitriy-stomal/376987/matches/, which lists him as one of their defenders.

All players were born one year later than their original date of birth. For example, Messi was born in 1987, but in the game he was born in 1986.

This is part of sortitoutsi.net FM23 Data Update - Updated Ages and Contracts by 1 year.fmf, the contracts of players are pulled back a year, and their Year of Birth is moved one year back as well. IIRC, this is because FM does not handle starting in the 2023/24 season that well, especially with issues like wrong clubs winning playoffs and such. Those changes effectively mean you can play the 2023/24 season in the 2022/23 season, and that the ages, contract expiry dates and Free Agents match the current climate, despite it being the previous season.

The information posted is official and from an official source and, for some reason, they disabled it, as only transfermarkt was the reliable source of transfers

Possibly the club released the player in order to make a transfer possible, so for a short amount of time, the player might've actually been a Free Transfer? Or somebody incorrectly entered the information into transfermarkt! The transfermarkt details would've probably been considered the more reliable information, because its one of the sources connected to the player's profile here. Regardless, transfermarkt now matches the information you've provided, so there's no issue?

Wouldn't it make sense as part of one of the general updates / improvements, to maybe push the reputations of the Saudi Competitions up higher to reflect the perceived desirability of going there caused by activity in the transfer market since FM23 came out? E.g. Saudi Professional League: 128 >> 154 (would put it between the Eredivisie and Brazilian Top Flight); Saudi King's Cup: 91 >> 118; Saudi Super Cup: 78 >> 101; Saudi First Division League: 75 >> 97.

I would like to see Sydney van Hooijdonk (UID: 37070319) to increase from 112 CA to 130 CA, to reflect two very good seasons on loan with SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie and how he plays, as well as him being the son of Pierre van Hooijdonk. I've listed above how I would distribute that CA to make him more of a Set Piece Specialist, and highlighting his high work rate, speed and his fitness (he has rarely had an injury in the last few years). I would like to see his PA move from a fixed 127, to a dynamic potential, -8, 130-160.

#749291 Data Update Submission Process Thoughts
CTxCB
6 years ago
1 week ago
3,436

Wanted to give some thoughts on part of the Data Update Submission Process, and how I think it could be improved…

  1. I think the form needs to include the Release Clause Section from the Pre-Game Editor, which is: Minimum Fee Release Clause; Minimum Fee Release Clause (Foreign Clubs); Minimum Fee Release Clause (Domestic Clubs); Minimum Fee Release Clause (Domestic Clubs in Higher Division); Minimum Fee Release Clause (Clubs in a Continental Competition); Minimum Fee Release Clause (Clubs in a Major Continental Competition); Relegation Release Clause; Non Promotion Release Clause — While I think they should all be hidden away with a checkbox that you have to tick first, I think its a necessary addition. Namely, because there are times when Release Clauses change, and not allowing them to be changed is a shame, because its one way that a gap between what the Data Update can provide and reality widens. An example being that, it is widely reported from a lot of different sources that alongside Lukaku's loan move to Roma, Chelsea and Lukaku have mutually agreed to change the terms of his contract to insert a roughly-£38M Minimum Fee Release Clause. Not having that Release Clause in the game would be a shame, because the AI for Chelsea is likely to demand more in the region of £70-90M.

  2. I think the form needs to include the ability to change Squad Number and Preferred Squad Number — When a player moves to a new club, they often get a new Squad Number, allowing users to change this to reflect their new move would add an added touch of realism. From what I've seen of AI and Squad Numbers, they seem to respect Squad Numbers already in place, mostly.

  3. I think the form needs to include the Extension Options from the Pre-Game Editor, which is: Contract Extension After Promotion; One-Year Extension After League Games (Final Season); One-Year Extension After League Games (Promoted Final Season); One-Year Extension After League Games (Avoid Relegation Final Season); Optional Contract Extension By Club — This is another situation where it would add more realism to include it, because there are situations in transfers where extensions might be part of the new deal (or in some cases, are unwittingly carried over from their previous deal); An example, as part of Leonardo Bonucci's proposed move to Union Berlin, its rumored that the deal could be a 1-Year Deal until June 2024, with Union Berlin having the option of a further year: If this were to be the case, there's no way currently to include that in the Data Update, from the Submitter's end.

  4. I think the form needs to include parts of the Additional Clauses Section from the Pre-Game Editor, namely: Match Highest Earner Clause; Will Leave At End of Contract; Will Explore Options At End Of Contract — An example of this being Mbappe, it would make sense for him to have the Explore Options clause ticked, because it currently reflects the situation IRL with PSG and Mbappe.

Also, could a mod move this into Pending, since the source is literally the player himself:
