Not sure how likely it would is. But, Nigel Adkins would be my manager of choice if I was a Reading fan.

Not when he clearly had no idea there was another player there, you see people raising feet very high to try and control the ball all the time

Just because he didn't know someone was there, doesn't mean that it wasn't an obvious risk to injury.

Still, I don't think it was a red card, probably a yellow.

Ticket prices need to be high to get the money from Sky/BT.

If tickets were reasonable, people would go to games rather than watch them on TV.

That's rubbish

After a quick search, it appears the league average %age attendance last year was over 90%. In addition the big teams that tend to get the most TV time have average attendances even closer to 100%. So they wouldn't be affected much by dropping ticket prices.

Plus, I'll take a stab in the dark and say the average viewing figure for a PL game is far far higher than the empty attendance in whatever stadium is hosting the game. So the amount of extra people that would go to the game thanks to cheaper tickets would have a small effect on the viewing figures.

Thought that was a good result, and a decent performance for us. Hopefully we can get a win at St. James' now

We could almost do with them pressing forward more. I think our only real chance of creating good opportunities is a quick counter-attack to make the most of our good passers and Ben Arfa

Served him right for trying to do such a flashy clearance tbf.

It was that or concede either a corner or throw-in in a dangerous position

It was a good idea, and execution, just a shame the landing wasn't as good.

It appears Ben Arfa's playing as the focal point of the attack tonight, I assume it's to give us a more defensive approach tonight. Great to see him back in the side regardless.

Unfortunately Coloccini's apparently out for anywhere between 3 and 7 weeks after he broke bones in his back! Good job we bought Yanga-Mbiwa.

The ref just cost a lot of these players their last chance at winning a European trophy, against the run of play. A team reaction to a decision depends a lot on the circumstances, if we were being caned and then we got Nani sent off I doubt it would even be an issue, but that decision completely turned the game. Didn't your manager shove a linesman over a much, much smaller and inconsequential decision earlier this season, by the way?

Don't be ridiculous; Giggs is signed on for another season, so apart from Scholes (who wasn't involved) then every player has another chance at winning a European trophy

I don't have too much issue with the complaining to be honest, Rio's clapping was pretty funny. It'd be a bit boring if everyone was a good sport all the time - nice to have some (extra) controversy thown in

11. Luis Suarez became only the third different player to score 20+ goals in a Premier League season for Liverpool (after Fowler and Torres).

Wow! I'm shocked Owen didn't manage 20 PL goals in a season

Great article about the Benitez situation.

That wasn't great - had it's moments of sensibility, but there was plenty of contradictions/shite in his reasoning

I reckon the demise of Rangers had a big effect on the Off Topics. There used to be loads of Old Firm fans about, but now outside of Telegram Sam and Flash there doesn't seem like there's any about regularly.

Don't all clubs publish their accounts?

I thought only public limited companies were obliged to publish their accounts and private limited companies didn't have to?

I don't know how many clubs are PLC and how many are LTD though.

Cisse could have had 5 or 6 tonight, missed 2 sitters and scored 2 perfectly good goals.

Poor display from the linesmen.

The second one looked really close. Couldn't make mind up on the poor stream I was watching.

Disappointing result, especially given the bad decisions

I think this week goes to show the fans want new signings regardless of who they are. A backup LB and a I doubt Gouffran is any better than Marveaux/Obertan.

Sissoko was excellent in the first half tbf, but was anonymous in the second before going off injured.

Sissoko-Cabaye-Tiote could be a MONSTER midfield.

Maybe there are fans that just like new signings. But what we've done this window has all been good, and I think fans should be pleased with the moves we've made. With Ryan Taylor out and Gutierriez being in and out of the squad we haven't really had cover for Santon at LB and after losing Ba we needed a forward player who's happy playing out-wide/behind Cisse.

We've had depth problems all season so adding squad players is something we needed to do.

With regards to the match, it was great to pick up 3 points and have Sissoko perform well. But it's a bit worrying we've been poor in the second half in back-to-back games. I didn't see the game last night, but it sounds like Villa were unlucky not to get a draw.
