Messi doesn't look like he's running right on the sidelines. Gotta be really desperate to bring him on surely.

How was the 2nd Dortmund goal offside when Santana passed it in? When the ball is delivered into the box, 4 are offside, but how is Santana offside? Is it because the Malaga player is behind the line in the goal?

Offside isn't based on the GK it's just based on the number of players in front of you when the ball is played into you.

So because there was only one player in front of the scorer and he was in front of the passer then he was offside.

I'd say £12m is a fair price. Liverpool's bargaining position is severely weakened by the fact their intent to sell is known by all, and when you factor in his injuries this season, he might not go for any more than that. He could still prove to be a very good Premier League striker if he can stay fit and finds himself at the right club, so I reckon he's worth a punt for the right price.

That seems a more reasonable price.

I hope we get him cheaper than that if we are interested. He would be second fiddle to Cisse and given how we play now in the 4-2-3-1 the majority of the time he probably wouldn't be a starter for us. He needs a system built around him being the target man, West Ham are a pretty good fit for him really.

In some ways I think it's his intention to make himself the focal point, the bad guy, of the drama, to deflect the attention from a player he maybe thinks would struggle with a lot of media criticism coming his way.

Mourinho and Ferguson are similar examples of managers making them the focus of media scrutiny (although usually in less contentious situations) to shield the players from the media. Not that I'm saying Martinez is on par with those two as a manager. It just seems like this long after the whole thing he would alter his stance somewhat, if he was concerned with his own image, given there's been a lot made of how poorly he and Wigan have dealt with the situation and generally I think he comes across as a fairly intelligent man.

As much as he could have scored that one goal that would have kept us up. So could any other player on the squad, he isn't the sole reason we were relegated ultimately.

That article goes on about his price tag as well. By his last season at Newcastle I think everyone can agree that all the injuries meant he just wasn't the same player we signed anymore. Even if his contract hadn't expired we'd have got £16 million back for him.

As much as it was a shame we could recoup any of our investment in Owen, if I was him (i.e. at a club I had no particular ties to) I wouldn't have stuck around with Man Utd knocking at the door. It's as much the clubs fault for letting his contract run down so far that he could leave on a free, he's fulfilled his obligations to us.

I think we should all be over it by now, all in all there's a lot to be happy about at the club nowadays

But I dont see anyone in Europe that would pay Dario Conca 140,000 odd pounds a week.

I'm not really sure what point you're getting to? Although that might be because I don't know who Dario Conca is (which I guess might be the point)

Presumably there's no-one else in Europe willing to pay whoever as much as Rangers are willing to pay him.

There on a lot more money then what Rangers can even dream of affording atm though.

To be fair, a lot of them are of a much higher quality than Rangers can dream of getting at the moment as well.

So it stands to reason they'd be on more money.

My ipod broke, and looking fora new MP3 player, any suggestions? Looking for something a bit more cheaper, but there doesn't seem to be much choice besides ipods.

Also do non Apple products work with itunes? Any suggestions on what to use instead?

Depending on what size your looking for, I found about a year ago that at the larger sizes the ipod classic was pretty competitively priced.

I had Apple stuff before I got an ipod, they come with their own software for getting music onto it. For listening to music on your PC, I'd recommend Winamp, I think it's got a really good music library lay-out.

No it wasn't, it was a dangerous challenge. He owes it to Haidera not to go into a challenge like that because there is a good chance he can break his leg.

Just because it was dangerous, doesn't mean it was intentionally dangerous.

I've seen a lot of outrage, from various places, about this. But I think we should give McManaman the benefit of the doubt - fair enough he committed a dangerous challenge, but a doesn't mean he wasn't honestly attempting to win the ball.

He's 21, he made a silly mistake and for now lets leave it at that.

Their 'fit and proper persons' test is just a front, a stupid waste of time to make it seem like they're doing something. It has to be. I mean look at Portsmouth, how many dodgy owners have they had that have all passed the fit and proper persons test?

Wasn't the fit and proper persons test added/strictened in response to the Pompey mess not before it?

Exactly, the Wigan chairman. Leaves a bad taste. I'd say I was dissapointed by the FA but I expected it. Corrupt organisation.

Definitely dissappointed by the FA, and they may be corrupt in other ways. But in this case I don't really see the corruption in it - it's more a case of following the poorly thought out rules they've put in place.

I didn't think Martinez was too bad, I could see how some of the things he said could come off badly. But I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was just poor wording/lost in translation kind off thing. Whelan's a complete idiot though!

Having said that I hope we don't try and sue. I don't think it was a tackle with malicious intentions, it's part of the sport that in the heat of the moment players make silly decisions and if you want to play that's a risk you take. It'll start a precedent that could head down a slippery slope.

Though obviously if it's intentional like the Keane-Haaland incident then sue away.

Dignified interview from Pardew - I'd have lost the plot there

Yeah I was impressed, thought he might say something that would get him done by the FA.

Awful challenge by McManaman (I think), put his foot studs first through Haidara's knee (who's only on because Debuchy got injured). Straight red in my eyes, but the ref doesn't seem to have seen it

Stretchered off, and that'll be sub number 2 done

Strong starting XI for us, although it's a little worrying not to see Cabaye on the bench even. As much as I like Gutierrez and he does work hard, he's not in the same class as Cabaye in the centre of midfield.

Which would be unnecessary if not for the level of debt they piled upon us.

The debt they bought has been a millstone around our neck, the accelerated commercialisation has done nothing except tackle that debt. Little to do with our success (which has basically allowed the commercialisation, not been caused by it).

So, the added revenue of commercialisation only brings in enough money to cover debt repayments?

Perhaps the original ability to commercialise is based on you having success, but now all the big clubs are doing it and brings in plenty of money it's the reason (or at least part of the reason) you're remaining in competition with other sides

The 'millstone' doesn't seem to have had too much of an effect on your on pitch results, it's not like you've had any issues spending on players when needed.

Out of curiosity, what aspects of commercialisation do you have problems with?

They bought a club with money they didn't have, they then saddled the debt onto the club, have accelerated the trend of commercialisation and treating the fans like customers and are using it as their own bank.

Fantastic business men they might be, but they're parasitical cunts who are lucky they had Ferguson there.

The fans are the customers - football's a business first and foremost.

I'm sure United fans are happy you've managed to make the three CL finals and be so consistently successful in the EPL as well. The only reason you've managed to keep up with the competition is through accelerated commercilisation bringing extra revenue into the club.
