If that were true he wouldn't be at fucking Bournemouth.

Why?

Do you genuinely think Drinkwater is a better player?

Doesn't help that you have a genuinely mentally insane person as the chairman either.

Whar about Christian Atsu makes you think he is better than Riviere?

Riviere isn't a winger?

Yeah, its all an estimation of course, but we're operating well within our means is more the point I was making.

We could go out and spend another 20-30m if we sell Sissoko and that'd still be the case, and even then thats just profit/loss on transfers - we'll make more than everyone in the division in other ways too - we're nowhere near breaking FFP.

We've actually made 1.3m of profit this summer - and are yet to sell Sissoko.

McManaman and Atsu in by the end of the window and maybe a centre mid.

We've had a good window by all accounts.

Looks like Tiote has failed his Galatasaray medical though.

Brighton fans seem to know loads about FFP if Twitter is anything to go by

We've spent less than them and earn way more - why on earth would we be anywhere near failing to meet the criteria?

Good riddance?

He's been a great servant - in his prime he was one of the best DM's in the league.

His performance in the 3-0 over Man Utd

This thread is turning into Newcastle fans actually contributing and discussing.

Gone are the days, where we'd just piss our heads at other clubs being tinpot and random fuck ups in the Football League

There's probably more Newcastle fans regular on these boards than any other club tbf and we've been kicked out the Premier League thread

As for Gouffran - he's not amazing but he works hard. He stopped working hard for a bit and was quite rightly criticised for it as he's not good enough to do that.

You not at the match?

Hayden was good today - Shelvey was actually quite decent as well (he even ran around), although I still think neither of them really know how to control the midfield. Tbf I said Hayden was out of his depth, since the Reading game he has actually looked settled, and he looks much better for it.

Lascelles and Mbemba playing well is a big thing as well. We should walk the division if they play like that all season.

Dummett having Knockaert with ease today, who'd of thought?

Working today unfortunately.

I thought Knockaert was their main danger - wings with him and Ritchie would be great.

We controlled the midfield excellently for about 15 minutes after our 2nd goal.

Hayden is superb btw, no idea what Shola is on about.

Anita at right back is great too and another good shift for Gouffran.

Best performance so far.

This ref is awful.

Nice to see shelvey driving from midfield though, actually doing something for a change

That game is going to be 3/4 days after Wolves go to St. James' Park for a Championship fixture.

Is there any point in them going back after the first game?

They probably won't. Hire a pitch up here and train or something. Happened a few times.

Janmaat and Saivet out and Yedlin in - busy day for us today.

We still need 3 or 4 more, or we're going to leave ourselves understaffed AGAIN which is surely not an option with all the extra games.

LB, LW, AM and CF and we're good to go. Could probably get away without the LB.

Yedlin from Spurs is up here for a medical.

Anybody know anything about him bar he was below average for Sunderland last season?

I thought the first 30 minutes was excellent. Played right on our front foot

Yeah I think Shelvey and Clark will drop to the Bench for Bristol. Unsure who'll come in. I hope it's Hanley and Tiote. Hayden seems to offer something going forward.

You threw a hissyfit when we were in 8th in the Premier League. We're now in the lowest position of my lifetime.

Shevley is an absolute hindrance, and Hayden is massively out of his depth. If he was a youth teamer rather than a new signing people would be demanding he go out on loan. It's very early days for him, but I can't see the logic in bringing in someone who barely played for Hull last year, as a first team starter in the most important position.

Because we were shit, and still are. Same old problems not being addressed other than we've actually signed some defenders. Still crying out for a left hand side which we have been since Enrique left in about 1746.

Shelvey isn't in the best form but he's clearly better than being the worst in the division, and yes Hayden didn't have the best of time against Huddersfield but he was solid against Fulham - and has still only played 2 games for us.

We're still to make signings anyway, I'm convinced another CM will be one of them.

Newcastle are in real, real trouble - we've very possibly got the worst central midfield in the division.

Nowt like an overreaction is there

I thought Huddersfield were way better than Fulham were - I don't think Fulham were particularly impressive but Huddersfield looked incredibly fit and the pressing was excellent.

We lined up wrong and we're desperately short down our left side but the team that was put out was still capable of getting a win and it didnt due to Huddersfield's game plan, I haven't heard many people lacking in praise for their performance around here?
